Half-LIfe 3 ... That would make me sell my PS4 and get on the Xone train.

j/k right? If half-life 3 is an exclusive (which I doubt) it would be a Steam one long before it would be an Xbone one.

Also, I wonder if this game iwll be Xbone exlcusive or "Xbone exclusive" as in also on PC where it will run and look better?

I hope all this speculation doesn't cause someone in the know to come out and spoil it. I want some part of E3 to at least shock/surprise me. With all the leaks we have been getting, I'm worried that there will be nothing left to truly blow us all away.

Lets face it, E3 just isn't E3 without a true megaton or community meltdown.

This is standard MS. They buy 3rd party exclusives for the first 2 years of a console start then rely on their established franchises to carry them the rest of the way. For 3rd party exlusive, I'd say its coming from Activision.

People always get so nervous when these rumors start, afraid MS will buy that one game they were looking forward to getting on their non-xbox platform.

Dear glorious Xbox master race ,

Don't take my game away from me.

Sincerely,
Dirty Playstation peasants

Isn't it a given the Xbox One and PS4 will each have exclusives at E3?

The rumor in the OP doesn't communicate any information.

Yep, well also, it would take a lot of money to pay off a third party exclusive considering the almost doubled installed base on PS4.

Yeah, has more then that also advertising things like that. I don't think it's as simple as here some money keep it off PS4 for this amount of months.

I'd say it's more likely to get leaked than not so you may want to steer clear of GAF until after the MS conference lol.

Seems like we are in the same cycle as last year when there was many people that thought MS was going to moneyhat battlefield, COD, Madden, Fiffa, ect. Man looking back it is still fucking unbelievable that people thought that could happen.

I presume you've already sold your PC then!

I´d sold my PC back in 2006. Got a mac instead and the only game that thing is capable of handling is Star Craft 2.

I considered building another PC when Diablo 3 came out. thank god i waited for the definitive PS4 versión

Timed would make a shit ton of sense considering that their position is a lot different now then when the xbone was revealed and they could get third party exclusives.

Are people really Happy with that ?

So you think it´s a cool thing that Microsoft pay so a game won't release on other consoles ?

Please Microsoft stop paying to prevent people from playing games..

How is this any different than them making a first party game? They are paying to make games you can only play on MS systems. Are you equally mad that Sony spent money on the development of games like Infamous and Killzone that are only available on Sony platforms?

Not likely going to be anything from EA. I think they've realized that they've got burned by betting on the wrong horse, and will avoid doing much in the way of exclusivity deals.

I'd guess its probably Crytek's new game, because they seem to have gone all in on Microsoft. So that would suggest Homefront 2 is a likely guess IMO.

It don't matter the developer that MS moneyhatted, it don't matter what game it's going to be. It don't matter how many truckloads of cash MS payed the dev.

The only certain thing here is that the developer that accepted the cash will not be able to make the amount of money they could have made had they developed the game for the PS4 as well.

I'd like it to be shenmue just to watch the meltdown and denials of exclusivity on the message boards. Anything that isn't a 1st person shooter and ill be happy.

Timed makes a whole lot more sense.

At the same time, you'd wonder what IP is 'small-ish big' enough that publishers are willing to sacrifice lost sales due to it releasing 6+ months later.

There's no way it's a holiday season mega-seller IP that relies on it selling 6+ million copies within the first 3 months. At the same time, it cannot be just any smaller scale IP as well because that'd make it not that much different from PvZ GW last year.

How is that certain exactly? If the game would have sold a million on PS4, and MS gives them fifty million for it, then it's certain it won't have lost them money. It depends what it is, and how much MS paid.

Big third party makes me thing they got epic's new franchise, but that would be expected. I don't think platinum would be too surprising or big, so I guess I will join the shenmue 3 camp!

Why in the world would developers sign a deal that was certain to make them less money?

I'll be thoroughly impressed if this is genuinely a big, active franchise they've managed to secure, given their market position right now.

Paying for a game like Fallout to be truly exclusive would cost an astronomical amount of money.

For that reason I suspect any third party exclusives Microsoft secures will be on the order of other third party exclusives they've had recently. Games like Dead Rising, or Garden Warfare, or Titanfall. Either old IP that aren't exactly massive sellers, or new IP that might be big eventually. Those are far more affordable, and realistic deals to be making.

The other long shot is seeing a big IP become an exclusive to XB1, but for a very short amount of time. 1-3 months. That also seems within the realm of possibilities.

How big of a deal would cyberpunk 2077 be?

Knowing the company, they'd never do it.

There is no way that there would be enough sales on the platform to make up for it being exclusive (for Bethesda that is). Bethesda would be committing suicide if they did this.

As someone who doesn't care about Shenmue and is pretty sure it wouldn't be a system seller or a sales juggernaut whatsoever because it's not a relevant franchise, but who also enjoys people flipping out on GAF, I'd enjoy this. Ideally they'd be able to work someone saying that Super Mario RPG is better than the Paper Mario games into the announcement too.

How many times does this need to be gone over? No matter what games Sucker Punch or Guerilla make , the studios are owned by Sony, and will always be for their platforms. You can't moneyhat a first party.
