Plus, don't think Homefront has the pull in itself. Not really what one thinks of for a "big" franchise. Not saying TS is, but the nostalgia for that game is pretty large.

1.2 million units sold on a system that only sold 10 millions units worldwide is pretty huge.
And it's not Shenmue's fault that the second episode bombed on the OG Xbox. It was a combination of poor choices on SEGA's part. The European Dreamcast version of Shenmue II was massively imported in the States and the original Xbox was a console the Europeans didn't want.
Besides, a lof of gamers who didn't play Shenmue at the time have since discovered it through emulation or acquisition of used copies.
Saying that Shenmue didn't sell over and over again doesn't make it any more true.

Splinter Cell conviction arguably lead to the decline of the mindshare of the entire franchise because it was permanently constrained to the 360 and PC. Whatever it is, it'll be timed.

Shenmue 3 didn't even chart. Less than 20k units across all platforms.
That's another big misconception. SEGA France's old PR Manager used to say that there wasn't a day where people would not asking him about Shenmue 3. Gamers a not all on NeoGAF (especially those who don't speak English).
You're assuming there's even one true big third party exclusive, I'd say you're trying to act as if you have inside information. BruceLeeroy is mod-sanctioned, do you have any proof otherwise?

I hate timed exclusives.. it's a slimy tactic to use to prevent a game from showing on a competitor's platform for a period of time. I rather they fund and co-develop like Sony has with Project Beast. Or contract out a 3rd party developer to design a game with one of their older IPs like Killer Instinct. Would love to see Perfect Dark developed by Crytek.

Yeah this exclusive is probably just something for holiday season to boost line-up. If all good titles are coming in 2015, like everyone says.
