Seems interesting is this for E3? They could potentially be talking about new classes as opposed to 1.0 because summoner was added when the game relaunched. Still interesting.

Expected. Would be nice to see the progression to Ninja and if they are going with it's unintended FFXI role (evasion Tank) or as a DPS. And also if we're getting more than just ???->NIN.

If they churn out an interesting tank class I might resub. Dark Knight could be a pretty good tank class if implemented correctly.

It's probably just thief -> rogue though.

they would also have to churn out interesting encounters for tanks.

Well thief > ninja are all but already confirmed some type of gunner class too I would hate to see both just be more dps though

Well, those following the game already knew that new jobs were coming. They were teased in the new storyline added in 2.2.

Are there any hints in there about what those new jobs are?, I might die if they add NIN, BST or RDM(probably redundant D:)

Yeah. Thief/ninja were teased in the Leviathan story. And we're supposed to get some sort of gunner job as well.

:O I haven't played FFXIV for a while. Please tell me we're going to get a thief class?

Edit: Oh I see it. I see it! Yessssss. I'd come back hardcore if this is true.

Its pretty amazing how fast they churn out this content even if it is a sub MMO. Meanwhile GW2 is still slow as ****.

Does marketing use class and job interchangeably? I'm hoping we get both new classes and new jobs for existing classes.

yup, was teased since the beginning in the coral tower. would be a shame if they weren't the first to show up.

I still have a pic of my Lala from 1.0 holding the gun they gave you to practice shoot in a cutscene. I was super surprised when SMN was the first new class to the game and not Musketeer.

Hope we get to see Yugiri's race soon.

The highest level marketing has used them interchangeably, because of what 'class' means to players of other MMOs.
But thief will undoubtedly be a new class.

I hope this content comes much sooner then fall. The game is stagnate right now, and novus isn't helping.

Cool; I've been expecting gunner to be archer-based, so if they use job and class interchangeably I can stick with that for now.

I think we will get new class: rogue and some gun toting thing

New jobs: Theif, Ninja, and gun job.

Theif - rogue 30 glad 15

Ninja - rogue 30 ach 15

Gun job - new ranged class using gun 30 rogue 15

I wouldn't call new end-game raid dungeons every half a year an amazing amount of content.

Each patch has been pretty meaty so far. Even the patch this week that didn't have any content at all actually had a lot of quality of life stuff. It's certainly a lot faster than what I'm used to for WoW. Game can go an entire year without any new content.

Not just for the majority, but for the VAST majority coil is not the only thing that counts as end game content.

3 Dungeons, one 24 player raid some hardcore players will find too easy but that's great content for 99% of the userbase.

World of Warcraft is the exception to the norm in regards to MMO updates. How that game gets away with entire years without updates is beyond me.

At any rate, FFXIV's patches vary. Patch 2.1 had a lot, but Patch 2,2's content didn't last as long as anyone would want or hoped. That said, the team gets kudos for being dedicated to an actual content cycle.

I fully expect Thief and a Gunslinger style class to come, but I'm kind of hoping for more. >_>;

I only played WoW vanilla plus one expansion. FFXIV ARR launched with far less content than WoW had at its beginning. There was only one end-game dungeon with 4 bosses at launch. The first major patch they had after launch (~3 months) actually padded content between end-game and the casuals which meant people that cleared the end-game had nothing new to do except gearing alts. Then another 3 months later people the new end-game dungeon was added and people have cleared it in less than 1 month. I haven't been following the game much lately but an expansion is sorely needed, most of the people in my guild have half-quit the game. There's nothing to look forward to again for a while.

And let's not ignore that most raid encounters are basically a fight on a platform. If you're an end-game raider, paying 6 months of sub for 4 fights is a poor deal even if the fights are pretty engaging.

Well if you're the type of player that can play 3 months in an MMO without touching the end-game content, then you don't really demand much out of the genre. Which is fine but that's not an argument for an amazing amount of content.

i just hope the new classes/jobs have different requirements to get their upgraded relics, or that it's made easy to catch up. just imagine doing all this zodiac stuff in a couple years on a brand new job. no thank you.

Tomorrow I may buy more time for my FFXIV! =)
I was in a bad time for buying it, but I may come back in activity now that things are better for me!

WoW launched November 23, 2004 with Molten Core and Onyxia available. Blackwing Lair was not added until 1.6 on July 12, 2005. Let's not act like WoW got rapid updates for raid players from the start.
