Sony E3 2014 Conference Thread

someone from NeoGAF was on my bus back from the sony conference, so funny to see someone from GAF.

Ill be there all week covering E3 if anyone wants to meet up

Not only that, but the ammount of exclusive content they have on 3rd parties is mindblowing. MS went for timed exclusive dlc content. Sony went for exclusive features, game modes, etc, for several games. The Far Cry 4 announcement was godlike. You can play co-op with anyone on your friend list and they don't have to own the game?

Unbelievably stupid move by Ubisoft, but an amazing feature.

Yeah, I wanna see how that will be done, but looks great!
But to be honest, I didnt like that much of games with exclusive contents, I would like to see the developers delivering the games equally on both platforms when it comes about content, its sad how they played it in my point of view. But yeah, that will move almost eveyone who has both platforms to buy the PS4 versions.

It's on PC as well. Grim Fandango seems the same way but needs confirmation. I just think you've missed a ton of stuff from both pressers if you want to include that content. The lists would be much longer

I have a feeling that Grim Fandango will also appear on PC and iOS but no other consoles

What happened towards the end? What a disgrace. That 15 minute segment for tv and movies could've been given to Vita... I'm not saying the tv segment was not interesting, it just wasn't the right channel or the time to present it.

This is happening every year after release. Why did Sony even bothered releasing the Vita? Now, it's just a cross-purchase or remote play device with the ability to play some indies.. *sigh*

IGN did some math and according to them MS showed 20 games and Sony showed 19, they didn't break down how many were gameplay vs how many were just trailers (although I think sony might have had more gameplay and ms had the trailers, but it might just be the little bit i remember plus what someone considers "gameplay"). Regardless, I think both companies had good overall presentation, MS def had the better pacing/produced show (the horrible director for Sony that kept doing crowd shots instead of focusing on the games, I hate that) but I was more interested in the games that were shown off at the Sony conference. That half hour of numbers/powers/whatever else was just a pacing killer for Sony.

In my personal one, because all of these ratings are entirely from each person's view point of what they want and what they like. Stealing shinra-bansho's conference run down.

I honestly have no clue what you're talking about. I agree that Sony's Conference was better than Microsoft's. I cannot agree that EA's conference was better than Microsoft's. Microsoft's had decent games and great pacing. EA had concept art and shit pacing. Neither conference made me want to buy any games, but I could actually watch Microsoft's conference whereas I spent more time refreshing Neogaf than I did watching EA's conference.

We can argue all night but I think we can all agree on one thing, that was the worst possible first impression Layden could have made. Like, I honestly hope he's not on stage next year. Just give the whole event to Adam Boyes.

In fairness, he wasn't given good stuff to talk about ie games. I'm sure he'll learn. He had a bit of cross between Kaz and Reggie going on with his speeches

Well, I'd give the edge to whoever has the most releases this year instead of 2015.

The Last of Us
DriveClub
LittleBigPlanet 3

Sunset Overdrive
Forza Horizon 2
Halo 1-4

Seems even, unless I missed something.

Xbox One
-Forza Horizon 2
-Crackdown 3
-Phantom Dust
-Halo Collection
-Ori & the Blind Forest Not exclusive
-Project Spark Not exclusive
-Sunset Overdrive
-Fable Legends
-Scalebound

Sony
-Destiny (lots of content) are you serious?
-The Order
-Little Big Planet 3
-Bloodborne (Project Beast)
-Uncharted 4
-Magicka 2 Not exclusive
-Grim Fandango (timed exclusive) Not exclusive
-The Last of Us Remaster
-Let it Die (Suda 51)

Those are from today. But also there is Halo 5, Quantum Break and Gears of War for MS. And Lilly Bergamo, Deep Down, DriveClub and Rime for Sony.

Overall, I prefer MS line-up. But Sony line-up is not bad at all, and tbh, my most wanted title will be on PS4 (Uncharted 4).

Ps.: Is "No Man's Sky" exclusive for PS4? Or will it be released on Xone / PC too?

.

The Far Cry 4 announcement was godlike. You can play co-op with anyone on your friend list and they don't have to own the game?

Unbelievably stupid move by Ubisoft, but an amazing feature.

Or possibly a brilliant marketing move, if it can get people to try the game and decide that they'd like to be able to ply it single player and on their own terms with their own progress and what not.

I'm not saying it's going to work for certain, but I think it's a worthwhile experiment.

A friend of mine is talking shit about how MSoft destroyed Sony in exclusives today, and I'm just drunk enough to dispute him, because at first drunken recollection they both seem pretty close

MS:
Sunset Overdrive
Crackdown 3
Halo 1-5
Scalebound
EDIT: Oh snap Phantom Dust. Microoft wins by 1?

Sony:
The Order
Project Beast (Bloodborne, was it? Can't remember the final name)
Little BigPlanet 3
Uncharted 4

What exclusives am I missing from today?
Who plays only exclusives? Let's stop being fanboys and judge the conferences as a whole. Sony killed it. Microsoft tried too hard. EA was boring besides BF and Ubisoft keeps,on surprising me.

Ok

Ori Blind Forest, Arcade DR, Phantom Dust, Scalebound, Halo HD collection, Sunset Overdrive

vs

Drake 4, Somethin Sky, Ratchet movie, Project Beast (AKA CGIville)

Xbox wins hands down, I sa this as never having owned an Xbox and been Sony since PS1

You're a joke.

I was really disappointed in the Vita showing. Was really looking forward to something but nope. nothing.

I recently sold my original Vita in order to put it towards the 2000, nothing here makes me want to buy in again.

If anything, I'll probably get the PlayStation TV. I always found it a cool little product, so glad to finally see it confirmed.

Oh, I see, I thought Magika 2 were exclusive, my mistake then.
I know I didnt include on the list some indies from both sides as well as the Kinect games for Xbox One. I included just those that I think it seems to be the most expected indies (besides, tbh, Magika 2 is not one of them anyway).

Will "No Man's Sky" be exclusive? That game was looking so awesome!!

Anyway, its complicated to do a full and fair list. Some games are exclusive only on consoles, some are timed exclusives, some are really simple indie titles, and so on. I just compilled this list myself on my PC about what seems the most important for both platforms, including only the indies that appeals to me the most. Am not intending to start a war with that, since I am not really intending to make the PS4 list bigger then it actually is.. I myself prefer the Xone revelead titles to date more overall.

So just got back from the Conference on the big screen. Dear god all I can say is that was the exact opposite of last year. I really wish I hadn't bother to have went. Didn't help that the "Swag" everyone got was a lanyard with a code to access a beta and some other stuff and a fucking cheap ass poster like you'd find in any gamestop.

I'm not sure what you were expecting. It's the Vita.

Dead tired, I will sleep and wake up to watch Nintendo conference. I'll give Sony a score of 6.5/10. Had I seen Microsoft conference, it would likely to be the same score based on the announcements of games that actually caught my interest.

Listen, xbox fans will say ms had the better conference, Sony fans will say Sony had the better conference.

Truth be told, Sony had a bunch of megatons while microsofts conference was leaked and did not have the same impact.

Sony had a fantastic e3. Absolutely killed it. MS did well also. Impartial media seems to give the win to Sony. But it doesn't matter. E3 was about games, and that's awesome. Let's all agree EA sucked.

If we're doing entire conferences, you have to include the difference in pacing quality

Sony really went downhill in terms of conferences this year: It was too long, lacked focus, had numerous mic, lighting, and sound cue problems. Then it deiced to shit the bed and have a 20-30 minute segment of bullshit that nobody cared about. That was Wonderbook level of awful at times.

I sold my vita on Sunday. I see no reason to purchase another at this point. :(

Are you playing it? Why is it bad?

I was planning on getting this while I wait on the Digital Event tomorrow

there's no gameplay, other than some annoying flying through rings that penalizes you excessively and makes you play more of its bullshit, and then it turns into superman 64

also it's laggy (which makes no sense since it looks terrible in its attempt to be 'artistic')

Is there a good list of what they announced for the Vita? Wasn't able to watch the stream unfortunately, and the first post doesn't have much Vita content outside of Grim Fandango.

I'm not sure what you were expecting. It's the Vita.

I was expecting a game or two,

I'd be fine with a San Andreas port that mobile devices got at this point, seeing as Rockstar has a good relationship with Sony right now. Was kind of expecting that.

Did you think it was an Oprah taping or something? Morpheus headsets for everyone!

Fable, Forza I think as others listed. Honestly though, it is tough reading the MS list at only 900p compared to the Sony list at 1080p.

Entire post history, ladies and gents.

Voicing my opinion apparently makes me a shill or a troll. Isn't this a forum for gaming fans to state their opinions and have open discussions?

Don't believe in his lies.

I need to start saving up for Destiny, No Man's Sky, and Bloodborne! The coming year is going to be spectacular, and I'm looking forward to finally purchasing a PS4. Sony making me a damn happy gamer right now. Looking forward to Nintendo's conference too.

How does GAF feel about the ridiculous amounts of moneyhatting Sony is now doing? They feel worse than MS now. I cringed everytime they announced a multiplat and just had to mention some exclusive content blah blah blah they had secured.
I hate it. I wish both would issue a cease fire. They have no affect on the version I get.

I don't know if I would say Sony killed it. I think they had the stronger group of games for my tastes but they still ended up a 7/10 for me.

Now, if they would have showed TLG and the new Guerilla game, they very well would have killed it.

What megatons did Sony have? As far as I know the only truly new games at their conference were Entwined, Dead Island 2, and Little Big Planet 3. Well there was also Grim Fandango, but that's a remake.

lol list wars. you guys are sad

List wars are kinda silly, but I think if people posted what they are actually going to buy (or maybe buy) from the showings at E3 it's not a bad thing. It's one thing to just dick wave and compare the two lists without enough context and just go Sony has X games and Microsoft has X games, but I think they're fair if people put their money where their mouth is and say: "Hey, I'm actually going to buy all of this or all of that."

If you post a list of each side and compare the two, but aren't actually interested in those games then that's pretty silly.

I'm always pretty confident in what I like and generally know if I'm going to buy something well before release and E3 plays a part in those decisions. This year's especially so. My ratings of E3 are heavily influenced by that.

New account, was just approved a few days ago. Last account was perma-banned a long time ago with no explanation (but I assume it was because I stupidly made a personal dig at someone).

Voicing my opinion apparently makes me a shill or a troll. Isn't this a forum for gaming fans to state their opinions and have open discussions?

Did he just admit his last account was perma'd? Oh my god.
