Well, there is a rumor about dlc characters so people are going to use the leak/rumors excuse to further the characters speculation way after the release dates.

I'm expecting cut characters, and maybe some characters that didn't make it due to time constraints. AT characters were dismissed from the beginning.

Any more news about how Amiibo will work with Smash? It's super vague, it almost sounds like they'll be able to be called into a fight on the fly to play as a support character?... And what about stat increases and leveling up, those won't apply to standard fights, right? Just side modes? That's what I assume.

Actually, there's a really strong chance Lucas is cut. And I think it's because all customization isn't allowed, and maybe because you can put Hitler in the game.

The assumption is that Nintendo doesn't want a bunch of Hitler vs. Jesus matches going down online, as that wouldn't exactly fit Nintendo's family-friendly image. It's like how they discontinued Swapnote because everyone was just drawing dicks.

I don't expect character DLC, I think it'll be Mii fighter costumes or something like that.

So far none of the assists shown so far were big enough characters. I wouldn't doubt a Melee pack (Dr. Mario, Pichu, Roy and Mewtwo) or a Brawl pack (Lucas, Wolf, Ice climbers and Snake) along with a Newcomer pack.

With DLC they could expand the roster indefinitely with free characters/stages used to promote upcoming games too. Splatoon launching? Free DLC character for Smash! Yoshi's Woolly World coming out? New stage based on the game. New Zelda releasing? Impa is now playable as a heavy Sheik clone.

They could also do limited add-ons- like, you buy the Star Fox eshop title and get Wolf free. I also won't doubt some Amiibo stuff showing up down the line.

I can see three types of characters as DLC:

Returning Veterans
Lucas
Squirtle
Ivysaur
Snake
etc.

Old Characters (newly relevant since the planning period)
Toon Zelda (The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD)
Dixie Kong (Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze)
Plusle & Minun (Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire)
etc.

New Characters (didn't exist during the planning period)
Captain Toad (Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Super Mario 3D World)
Inkling (Splatoon)
etc.

Assist Trophies and stage hazards don't stand a chance, though.

I might have to stay away from Smash GAF then. I just know someone is gonna reveal the entire roster.

The only way while stay is it Nintendo reveals the entire roster before release. Which I feel they might do since they've already revealed 33 characters lol.

RE: Amiibo - Oh, yeah, that's a good point. I've seen a handful of offensive Miis in my time...
 
Whelp I was wigging out on calling out from work with a sick day to go play Smash bros, but there was something weird in my work pants that got this nasty goop over them and I need to wash them again, gonna call it divine intervention. Will let you know what I think when I play it

I think it's likely he will come back especially since they have shown him with Pacman.

I never mentioned Ness or Captain Falcon. And I put G&W in a group with ROB and Ice Climbers, saying that I think just one of them won't make it.

Besides, as far as we know, if they are not officially confirmed, they could be cut.

LOL. The amount of misinformation about Brawl in this thread is crazy. It isn't surprising though, comments like these are probably coming form people who don't even play the game competitively. So their "info" is " I heard from a friend who knows someone who plays Brawl". Or even worse the "I've seen a few videos and here is what I think".

I'm sure gaming sites like ign or gamexplain will reveal full roster as soon as JP version released, right behind those who get the game a few days early.

Is it me? Or is this Mii thing going to turn into "you want this character? well you can make him as a Mii and play as him anyway!" thing?

I had two, the first set got a massive rip in them in the crotch the other day and I had to throw them out, I am going to buy a replacement the next time I went into work to get back to two pair.

The lack of original 3dses and 2ds at the smash demo booth makes me worry that Nintendo even think their screens are too small for smash gameplay

I was hoping we would get Meowser from 3D World as a Final Smash. It would have been cool to play with. Seeing many videos though, I think most of the FS are the same as in Brawl. Although I wish they kept Kirby the same. I liked the Cook smash way better than Sword.
 
On a bit of a tangent, let's talk about a mechanic I noticed that I don't think enough people were talking about. Did anyone else notice that certain spikes/meteor moves (Mario's fair most prominently) cause a forced ground bounce on a character struck with it during the invitational?
