Have you not played Ground Zeroes? Oh wait, now I'm second guessing myself. Could you do it in GZ?

I'm pretty sure you can't do that in Ground Zeroes. He'll lay on his back but once you start crawling he'll face the appropriate way automatically and start crawling forward on his stomach in the direction.

You could totally do this in MGS4 though.

another huge plus for this game (I know it's in GZ too) is the almost zero HUD. It's so clean. Only if you aim or mark stuff otherwise there is no other useless shit on the screen. Freakin brilliant.

Edit: No wait, in GZ is the weapon icon in the bottom right corner always there, in TPP not! FUCK YES!
Eh, I kinda miss the big ass ALERT/EVASION text in the top right corner.

You could lay on your back in GZ but you can't crawl backwards... someone pick the game up and try right now. I'm almost sure I'm right.

I would rather have 30FPS with better draw distance, foliage, lighting, and less on the muddy textures than this draw back on performance just for "That 60 FPS".

Also, why is it that when Big Boss first lands at Mother base he still walks like he's on a sneaking mission? They can't add a normal walking animation?

Finally got to watch it. This game looks freaking fantastic. I want a release date and I want it to be tomorrow and I will call in to work for the next week and just play this freaking game.

I know a lot of people have already mentioned Mother Base possibly being Outer Haven. I know it wasn't like that in MG1, but they could change it, and I think it would be interesting if they did change it so your save carries over and the next game is a remake of MG1 and Mother Base/Outer Haven is the way you laid it out. Probably won't happen, but that would be neat.

For those who claim that the game is downgraded, notice that while Ocelot has a talk with BB the lighting is close to the E3 2013, and then there is a tutorial, that they skip. Notice then that when they skip cutscenes just like in Ground Zeroes ACTIAL TIME passes on. Tht is why when they skip, you will notice that suddenly the background color tone changes, because time progressed.

Seriously there is no graphical downgrade, in fact it looks upgraded, the background geometry is much better and the environments are richer. Compared to e3 2013 p, where the background looks like a wasteland and the mountains in the distance are barren. In this demo everything looks better.

Oh and pls stop because you are going to make kojima never post early demos... Ffs..!

Yeah, I wasn't feeling the fulton system. I stopped watching after a dozen or so. In a series that introduced us to the tiniest of details that even the AI pick up on, enemies floating away and supply drops go unnoticed? Sure it makes the game more accessible but is it even fun? I didn't get any sense of threat or difficulty watching that. Kojima please!

Looks really great though. I hope to see more varied or challenging gamplay soon.

You could, but only while aiming.
In MGS4 you could crawl on your back, even with no wepon selected.
In GZ BB can only crawl on his back while aiming with a gun / submachinegun. For grenades and empty mags, BB turns automatically.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
This might a weird thing to say, but I think this game (and GZ I guess) has one the best running animations in a game.

Agreed, I love it so fucking much.

That looked absolutely stunning. Like a perfect mix of MGS & Red Dead. I can't wait to play it!
The animations are really something else, his crawling animation to transitioning to his back to shoot was just incredible .

I just thought of a good solution to what some are claiming is a problem with the Fulton system (although I would like it fine as is).

What if you put a percentage or meter next to a downed enemy that represented their potential personality clash with other members of Diamond Dogs?

This would encourage you to not take everybody as some could harm your morale and efficiency on board Mother Base.

I don't think that adding a whole other level of statistics/programming for the Mother Base meta-game is the solution.

There needs to be direct, in-mission consequences to it.

Enemies need to be more aware/observant and there should probably be greater limitations on its use.

I was mildly interested in this game until the 2nd video in the op. I've completed mgs2, mgs4 and mgsgz, but I have no idea whats going on in this story. No idea why Snake, who's apparently Big Boss, has shit in his head. Why he's all cool with a younger looking Ocelot. None of it makes sense. But, it looks like fun. I enjoyed ground zeroes more than I expected. The fulton looks like it'll make exploration worthwhile. The base building thing looks kinda cool too. I feel like I'd lose a lot of time to this game. PEACE.

Yep. Go prone, pan the camera around and aim. I use this all the time!

(edit) loads of people don't seem to know this, lol.

No, I remember now. You can get on your back, did it plenty in backs of trucks, but crawling backwards wasn't a thing. You would auto flip back on your stomach. It's a small thing that wouldn't matter except in the most minute situations, but it'll be a nice addition.. fbgamer is right.

Stealth camouflage Fultons. Problem solved.

Seriously though, I agree that enemies should be made more aware of the use of a Fulton, as the noise it makes when being deployed, along with the enemies yelling while being hoisted up in the sky, both seem like they could interfere with the overall stealth immersion. I'm sure Kojima is still tweaking the whole Fulton concept, though.

Play MGS3 and Peace Walker, since those explain Naked Snake's history and everything you mentioned.

eh, yeah you can crawl backwards in GZ, you just have to be aiming your gun like in the video.

One thing they can consider is changing Snake's animation as he gets closer to a guard like in Chaos Theory.

That was a nice detail any stealth game could implement. If you watch the hospital GDC gameplay and heard Kojima's comments about Last of Us, you can tell contextual animation is a higher priority.

I have numerous times, exactly how did you make it through last gen? Because 30 FPS all the way through was just fine and it certainly beats having objects and shadows pop in 5 meters just before you while horse riding. Yeah I'm gonna stick with the "slideshow" for now.

that doesn't even make sense, of course he had a accent. everyone has an accent. Ocelot had an American accent in all the MGS games

This is semantics. In America you hear "so and so doesn't have an accent" as a way to say "so and so talks the same way we do".

Haven't watched the entire thing yet but is that the shadow of the grate being cast on dust particles floating through the air?

Yeah he tries to fulton the POW inside a house, the balloon explodes, dust everywhere.

I figured for the Fultons, perhaps it would be cool if it took the current wind direction into account? So say you were going to Fulton a guard away, you'd want to make sure the wind wasn't going to push him to float over the base and set everyone on high alert. That would be a tactical way to do it I think.

Conversely, you could Fulton a sheep and make him float over a base for an effective distraction to sneak in while all the guards watch the sheep float over.

Just an idea.

well this is an international site. that's just typical lazy thought process by the general population. like how people call items by certain brand names instead of what it actually is.

and there are a bunch of different accents inside the US. if someone from Boston talked to a guy from Georgia would either of them deny the differences in their dialect?

Overall, the demo is like PW and GZ combined, so I'm looking forward to it. But I hope the game isn't too concerned with micro-management of the base, that could get tedious.

That texture doesn't make sense.

It does if you imagine a very thin slice of smoke instead of a cloud. The effect looks much better outdoors though.
