So smooth... *drools* x_x

this is the perfect gif

I'm now pondering whether I should play Revengeance.

I've decided that before Phantom Pain comes out, I'll replay MGS3, GZ, and MGS4, and Sons of Liberty and Peace Walker for the first time. Wonder if I should play Reveangence. I tried the demo, didn't like it much. Worth playing?

Hell yeah. It's fiendish fun. It's a character action game rather than a stealth one, though. Luckily, the presentation is definitely Metal Gear, albeit with a huge dose of Platinum stylings.

In Kojima Station they already stated that even before they cast Kiefer, they had already made a conscious decision to perform a "show, don't tell!" approach to the story, which is why there isn't nearly as much dialogue (during cutscenes).

Of course it's also been confirmed that Kiefer plays 3 characters. BB, The Medic, and Ishmael (probably Decoy Octopus if I'm guessing right).
Not gonna lie there's a major disparity between what's known as show don't tell. And the cutscene from the gameplay video. BB isn't really making any noteworthy or subtle expressions, at all. He's just blankly staring with a brooding face. I'd even go so far as to assume that Kiefer Sutherland wasn't even part of that scene at all and that BB face was entirely keyframed. When watching it I was reminded of the conversations in Metro LL. Hopefully BB actually does more often respond during conversations instead of what he was doing in that scene. Troy Baker's Ocelot sounds pretty cool though.

The menu's for doing stuff in mother base from Peace Walker are going to be replaced with actually walking around your mother base to do even the most boring stuff arent they?

Thats going to be tedious

Man that sample has me pretty excited for what's to come. Here's hoping the story delivers while having the open world gameplay.

I think I've had a revelation about Snake's dialogue in TPP. It's really exactly the same as every other game, only now he doesn't do this stuff that everyone always complains about. Now it seems like Kojima's response to those complaints is to just leave those lines out.

Card keys? A woman? Second floor basement? Prison? Codec?

You're right. There's an interview somewhere where Kojima uses an example along these lines as to why there's less dialogue. I still would've liked Snake to reply to Ocelot instead of saying nothing at all though.

This is just a placeholder mission, so who knows how it'll go in the end (he probably still won't respond).

Holy shit that is freaking hilarious!
hilarious?
. I've played MGS about five times and I never noticed the degree to which he did that shit. That video is gold.

^Fucking lol

God damn.

This generation's Chaos Theory?

If Chaos Theory and Peace Walker had a baby, yes. Add a dab of Snake Eater sauce, a pinch of Sons of Liberty spice mix, and the tiniest hint of Zoo Tycoon crushed herbs and voila!

I finished my gameplay trailer, made from the walkthrough footage. It's set to the song Sail, and I like how it came out. It's not perfect, but what can you do. I hope you all enjoy it!

Anyway, I own an xbox one, and after seeing the walkthrough, I think I need a ps4. Just so I can shake the controller to close the Idroid.

Game looks like fun but Fulton is OP and the game is kind of unrealistic.

Same here, and people are going to get ridiculous and spin it to make it sound like we're saying MGS is or should be realistic.

In a game where stealth is a heavy focus, sending a guy flying up into the air without any of the guard noticing seems kind of lame.

So will every single Diamond Dog soldier look unique, or will there be a fair number of generic balaclava dudes?

In GZ they are. Plus you can see in the E3 demo, assigning jobs on the iDroid that the captured soldiers have different faces. I think we're gonna see a lot of scanned faces but unique voices not so much.

I came think that Snake just got back from a coma and not really enthused to be chatty like Hayter would.

I just watched this trailer for Metal Gear Rising.

Bought. Bought so hard. I don't even care if I couldn't stand the demo, that looks baller as fuck.

Yes it is. Do a thread when you're done, one of my fave games in the MG universe.

keep in mind:

a) there is a cost to using Fulton, so it isn't unlimited
b) Fulton-ing crates and vehicles require an upgrade that isn't at the start of the game.
c) the percentage isn't just a fail rate, but chance of getting caught. I'm sure the high percentage (80%) was for demo purposes

I agree. Hopefully they balance it more! Still a ways in development left.

Yeah, it still looks incredibly fun though. Loving what they did with the cardboard box, didn't see any of that coming.

Sounds good.

I'm pretty sure it's just a fail rate. That's why it was at 0% when indoors. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

I wonder how active or massive mother base assaults will be. I can see defending them, if you're at MB, being more active, but what about sending a force to another person's base?

Obviously I don't know, but I imagine it's more like the MB app where you just send whatever force you can create and then you get a mission report about losses, GMP gain, etc. I don't imagine you'll actively take part in the missions? But who knows. (maybe someone knows)

Sorry if this has been answered already, but can we pick the location of our base? Or is it always on a big rig in the middle of an ocean?

It's always a rig in the middle of an ocean.

Story-wise, however, this is building up towards the eventuality of Big Boss establishing Outer Heaven. That's located in South Africa.

It's said in the presentation you can send your personnel on missions without you. Just like in Peace Walker. Invading someone's base, however, I think is done by your Big Boss.

Pretty sure it's always an offshore base in the ocean. But you can customize the color and choose what to bring back via fulton balloon.

It's canon, but it's so far in the future of the timeline that it has basically no relation to anything except MGS4.

It isn't canon. I believe Kojima referred to it as an alternate story or something along those lines, plus he's not so subtly implied that the only canon games are the ones he's written and directed.

(And thank God since Rising's story is awful)
