I went to bed angry last night. I felt your pain, my American friends.

Football has the biggest swings of any game and this World Cup is no exception. Was hoping to see endless footage of 'muricans going crazy celebrating their victory today.

On to the next one!

My predictions for today:

NED 3 - 2 CHI
AUS 3 - 1 ESP
CRO 2 - 2 MEX

You forgot BRA - CAM

It's a big mistake to write off Belgium. They have so much strength by virtue of all that talent and they have a bonafide superstar player along with other guys who step up in big moments. They also have one of the best if not soon to be the best GK in the world and one of the best if not the best BPL defender.
This was the narrative going into the WC yes. Then those matches happened.

I'd be surprised if Netherlands can pull through against Chile. I expect 1-3 for Chile though.
Brazil and Mexico will probably win their matches and Spain vs Australia might be funny if Australia decides to go out with a bang.

We will probably destroy the US team. I mean seriously: They have Klinsmann as thei team coach. It's like the worst mistake you can do in professional football. You basically erase the "professional" in "professional football".
Maybe here in Germany. Did you listen to the pre-match discussion on ZDF yesterday? Klinsmann actually initiated a lot of steps to make US football more competitive.

We also didn't do too bad in 2006 with Klinsi as trainer, but I'm sure no one needs to remind you of that :D

It's crazy. The only downside is losing Benteke to injury and they lack fullbacks.

The worst thing that could have happened is what's happening now. He will probably get another 4 years at the job now that these couple of games have masked his incompetence.

but I do agree that writing off belgium is a bit premature

I think it's the other way around. You erase the "football".

Having said that he seems to fit into the US team very well.

So who do you think is better than courtois at the moment?

And belgium always played bad in their preparation games, against tunesia, sweden, luxemburg, colombia , ivory coast.... The problem is they can't create their own game. If they go against a strong opponent who plays good football, they actually play better than against weak opponents.
But still, they won 2 games and got 1 goal against them which was a penalty. Not many teams have done that so far.

If Germany USA even dares to fix this match, Portugal may just allow Ghana to roll them over to spite the fixing
They'd have to decide this pretty early in the match though. The matches on the 3rd day are parallel. So let's just say Germany leads 2-0 for the majority of the match - do you think Portugal would just say "fuck it, they may fix this match in the remaining 15 minutes - we'll allow Ghana to steamroll us just in case" and throw away their remaining chance?

No way.

Depending on his fitness starting with Schweinsteiger instead of Khedira might be a start. At least against Ghana Schweinsteiger had a much better ball control and better passes. As a result we had more chances even when Ghana made no mistakes unlike with Khedira where most chances were a result of Ghana's fuck-ups.

And if we're lucky Müller asks Klose how to stretch out his leg between the matches. Two easy goals just thrown away. Just thinking about it makes me angry :(
To be fair, neither Khedira nor Lahm were close to good. This was Lahms second match where he failed pretty miserably as DM. Kroos was playing Quaterback and there was no one in CM that could play passes to the wings. Götze was trying to close this gap by leaving the wing and play as CAM. Schweinsteiger finally closed it but he came too late.

Boateng out seriously hurt our stability and while Kolse and Müller didnt make the goals, they were still a constant threat for Ghana. I'm pretty sure that with a Bayern Munich midfield, Germany's game will become much better.
I still can't believe that we fucking blew it.

Ugh, as soon as they started playing lazy and defending like that I knew that shit was coming.

Thanks ESPN2 for showing it to me again :<

It's a Jürgen Klinsmann team. He has no clue of defence.

Not really nervous about today, still hope we win, but it's not really a lot of pressure anymore.
Match of the day will be Croatia-Mexico. Both sides look really strong but i'm slightly skewed towards Croatia.

Never start Kroos and Schweinsteiger together. Ask Blaburn.

Must be hard for a guy like you to watch 7 Bayern players in the starting 11 and the midfield being Kroos, Schweinsteiger and Lahm. It will be even more funny if Bayern brings this cup to Germany.

For fucks sake US, this was the chance to send the Germans to the otherside of the draw and takeout the Argentines before the final.

Hope the Dutch end up on that side now. Come on Sanchez.

Pls dont remind me of his time as Bayern coach. That was even worse than everything Moyes did.

Damn I was watching that Portugal/US game at work. Everyone was lined up in front of the TV and going nuts. Happy that we didn't lose it outright but it was definitely a kick in the nuts to see the win get swiped like that :(

Thursday is gonna be a show.

How would that work? If Germany draws the US, both have 5 points. Ghana and Portugal have 1 each. That's why colluding is even possible. I really hope we don't do this, but I somewhat expect that.
