PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | June 2014

As someone that has JLPT level 3, I really do not think I would have learned enough through six months of self study to pass that level and I don't think most people would, especially not with the sole motivation for learning being to play a game that isn't localised.

I dunno, I know of several people who have done it in six months. And that's with a full time job, and they certainly didn't do it like madmen.

Important part in learning a language is immersing yourself. The only real way of doing that aside from interacting with actual Japanese or someone who knows such is to through media of interest - curiosity.

Honestly, if you keep thinking "I'll do this when I learn enough", you'll never learn "enough". Trust me, I've seen so many people that you'd think would be able to play/read/watch X and Y (with subs/TL of course), but refuse to do so because they're not "good enough". In the end, they forgot how2Japones instead since it fell into disuse.

Sony are offering me £110 to replace my dead fat PS3 with a slimmer model.

Anyone have any experience with this? Would it be the Slim, or Super Slim? Would it be new, etc.?

Persona 4G keeps growing on me. I'm about 40 hours in now, nearing the end of august. I love Kanji, he cracks me up. I'm excited about this series now, can't wait to play P3 next and then the spinoffs while waiting for 5 to come out. I may even pick up Persona Q. This series is something else.

~2 hours. Just relax. Take a breath and keep the pacing slow (don't try to rush). The uptake for the game is incredibly long but also amazing, especially in hindsight. Enjoy it now, and you'll enjoy it even more when you look back on it. Also, you've got about 20 hours (minutes?) to best girl. Once again, don't rush, chill. It's a 100 hour game.

You've must have a typo. I don't get it. I mean, iirc you meet Chie the first day you go to school. I think you need to play the game again and refresh your memories ;)

That's incredibly saddening. And it has a spiraling effect where there's little competition so quality doesn't go up and sales go down and the spiral starts over. What happened to the Japan that shaped my childhood? I hope FFXII is better than I remember it being, and it's on the Vita. And P5 gets a Vita port. I hope that AAA Sony JRPG rumour is true. Quality sells, y'know?

Hopefully Atlus will release some HD SMT spin-offs on the PS3 / 4 now that they've built some HD assets. They don't need to look amazingly or be a technical marvel. But they relied in the past few years A LOT in porting their legacy titles to handhelds. Sega Sammy has more money than Index, so they should be able to do more original stuff now.

Prices like this kinda make me wanna go retail for Vita...
esp that Sly Collection.

These are Asian releases (comes in English)
Prices are in Singapore Dollars (1USD = 1.3SGD)

Persona 3: FES (PS2) has better presentation, and a (super grindy) epilogue segment.

Persona 3 Portable (PSP, Vita-compatible) has significantly improved gameplay, but the cutscenes are replaced by visual-novel style (talking avatars). It doesn't have the epilogue segment of FES. You don't walk around towns anymore, but it makes navigation significantly faster.

Personally I'd just go with Portable.

Thanks for the info!
I own both so I'll probably play both eventually. I still have a ways to go in 4G before I have to decide which to tackle first.

Playing Totori on Vita right now. I'm finding it juvenile, both over and under complicated, kinda walking on the pandering line, and some parts of it feel recycled even though I have no earthly idea what they'd be recycled from. It is, perfectly paced though.

That's funny, because I'm replaying Totori right now, and Totori has this wonder of adventuring that I only saw in old RPG like Xenogears and Grandia. But all Atelier games requires serious dedication and planning ahead. I say stick to it a little longer. The payoff at the end is incredible, seeing how far you're grown and achieved (if you are committed to it).

The only thing that Totori lacks is a bigger focus on the Aranya cast, but of all Atelier games, Totori is my favourite. Rorona is OK, but I didn't care a lot for Atelier Meruru. Not played the Dusk trilogy yet.

Don't go with portable man, just... don't.
Unless you want to read what happens instead of actually seeing it lol. The last few scenes in particular are the very definition of epic and you'll barely see any of it. Trust me. Go with Portable for a second playthrough with the female MC, it's worth it, it's actually a shame she isn't the "real" protagonist.

Does anyone know if Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate uses a separate trophy list on PS4/Vita? Just wondering if I should bother firing it up on the PS4 for the free trophies.

Same here. I'm currently at the end of August too getting ready to fight
Shadow Naoto
. This game is too good. Now that I'm seeing what to do in a Persona game, I'm going to go back and play P3 again since last time I got to Floor 40 and stopped. This time I'll finish.

That's earlier than I expected. The sooner they start 3 the better.

If only their Vita "plus" releases weren't handled so badly in the west.

Hpefully they'll release both versions at the same time in the West and will give a retail version to both.

I understand why they'd put Rorona as digital only since both Totori and Meruru were digital only (why buy a retail title if I can have the whole trilogy?).

This case is different though.

I did it everyone!!! I have never owned any Playstation, just Xbox and on Saturday I bought a PS4. I'm super stoked and I pre-ordered Destiny.

Let's see if that matters when Ayesha Plus comes out since it's a new trilogy. Allegedly, it should also be the only Ayesha with dual audio so it'd make even more sense to have a proper physical release.

Looks like Famitsu has some more info regarding Legend of Heroes (Sen no Kiseki 2) for Vita/PS3.
Guess we'll see detailed info in a day or two...

Hmm deception iv at 20$, is that worth it? I have been trying to go all digital since sony announced no 1st party support, but I have been watching this for a while.. Any thoughts?

Blog post is up.
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/06/23/playstation-plus-mutant-mudds-deluxe-free-for-members/

XBlaze is getting a sale already. $27.19
Deception 4 (Vita) - $19.59 Plus

Thankfully that huge spacehog of Rainbow Moon P2W stuff is finally leaving the PS+ section... Rainbow Moon is an alright game and I don't even subscribe to PS+, but I can imagine it was not a good look for anyone who happened to check that section looking for some free/cheap substance during the last month or so.

It is good, not as good as the first one, but way better than the terrible PS2 games.

Also I send you a PM.

Was Dustforce ever patched and fixed for the Vita? If so, I'll get that, if not, I'll get OlliOlli.

OlliOlli is still crashy I think, they mentioned a patch but I don't think it has been deployed yet.

They did announce retroactively applicable triple platform cross-buy though, so buying it now is good value.
