This is great :lol

Oh well, it's now or never for Mexico, i didn't expect much from the team before the first game but they have shown they can play a good game of futbol, Gio, Oribe and Herrera need to have a great game for us to stand a chance. We need goals.

2nd most entertaining team from CONCACAF. They've been great to watch. I mean, they always turn up in the world cup but they have been so damn good. This game is going to be damn good.

I hope.

World cup is basically europe + brazil and Argentina

ofc a european country will win the world cup

sigh
Uhh Brazil and Argentina ain't that good. I can see Chile/Uruguay/Costa Rica reaching the (semi) finals. Germany and The Netherlands are the only European countries who play ok.

I dunno, I have them third behind Costa Rica at 1 and the USA at 2.

Let's ignore the fact that their last 2 matches have been decided by 2nd half substitutions. Perhaps Chile's decisions helped the process, but still that isn't the complete story.

WTF, just because they changed players doesn't mean they changed the tactic. Today Holland parked the bus and waited for holes in our defensive line. That happened in the second half because our defense got weaker when Valdivia entered the field.

I still think there's nothing wrong with that (except for the bad show). As I said, I think Van Gaal was extremely intelligent :)

So what exactly is the deal with David Villa? He's clearly 3 times the player Torres is and they only let him play like 50 minutes. They hatin' him for going to MLS / A-League or something?

V.gaal said he was waiting for the last 20 minutes to makes these substitutions, because he knew Chile always get tired and play less good in those 20 minutes.

Chile still a class team, can't wait to see how they will do against brazil.

Mr Expert, you can say all you want but what you want would end up a in rain of cards for both sides and that will not help the quality of the match. No one got hurt, no really harsh fouls where made (except maybe once). The ref also knew that both sides would go through so they don't want to risk injuries or red cards, he was expecting minor fouls. He got it right. He whistled a good match.

Ahh, I just stopped there. Go away with this childish behaviour.

People talking shit on Holland is ridiculous. Chile's strong offense looked confounded and they barely got any chances out of it. Then they still scored 2 goals out of the game in the end.

They've only gotten scored on once outside of two debatable penalties and it was a ridiculously unlikely volley.

Strategy doesn't equal tactics. Personally I expected this exact scenario. Tire down Chile first half, bring in the fresh talent 2nd half, boom victory. But if you only want to see it through the other lens, that's okay too.

It should be a fun game, both teams always play attacking the whole time. No parking bus. The thing is, Brasil has very dangerous players, so one mistake and we'll be fucked :P

It will be interesting for sure.

If Croatia beats Mexico, they are through, and Mexico is essentially out, I think.

this is basically correct...

unless somehow cameroon beats brazil by a bazillian goals...
so, yes, it's very likely that mexico is out if croatia wins.

Mexico is in the next round with a win or a tie.

VdB screwed up this WC big time

let's be real

he had the players in his squad to do wonders, but his tactics, his decisions of who to play... awful, awful

and even in the game to salvage your honour you take off your country's leading scorer in his final game ridiculously early while leaving the world's must underperforming striker on the field
though i love torres

Damn, my english is not very good. Can you point me out what's the difference between both? I've always used them as synonyms.

Are you Dutch or Iranian mate (or both?)? Just wondering since I remember you cheering your socks off for Iran the other day as they played horribly and referring to "them" as "we".

I could've just been high on something that day lol, if so disregard.

LOL good eye

Persian blood, raised in NL

I feel equally Dutch and Persian.

GAF I was at the Spain x Australia match and had a banner saying POSTING ON GAF IS MORE ENTERTAINING THAN WATCHING SPAIN PLAY. lmao I was really close to the sideline, like two rows from it.

Did anyone see it?

I was rooting for Spain though. lol

Basically strategy is long term planning, see it as the overal theme you are using. While tactics are what you use on the spot, as such they can change from moment to moment and from play to play.

The only positive thing about this World Cup I just won 45 euros. :_( with this last match.
See you in the next Eurocup, not sure if we will participate as Spain xDXD.
So sad, not because we are out but not this way...
I hope it's not true but newspapers and radios are saying del Bosque could continue leading this group. 🙇🙇🙇
