Please don't lump Portugal in with Italy. Portugal hasn't done shit. Ever.

I don't even know why they are talked about as contenders every tournament with teams who have actually proven that they can win hardware.

(Germany Brazil Italy Spain)

Let's go Chile!

Spain? Lol. They had ONE good generation and ONE world cup. Let's see how they perform now that the base team is gone forever and youngsters have to step up.

If they can keep up for two or three more world cups, maybe they deserve to be quoted alongside Germany, Brazil and Italy.

:(

My name is LovelySalsa and I have a gambling problem

If I lose money on betting, I try to cover the losses by betting immediately on something else in hope to get it back.

I need help

Join the club pal.

I've hit some good bets this world cup earlier on but I'm getting fucked recently.

Guys, guys. Relax, it's just football. Now hug and drink some beer.

will gently cradle you as time slowly ticks away.
He was banned for 10 matches the last time. Unless biting people repeatedly warrants declining punishments he should be banned for more than the previous time.

A lenient ban would be missing the rest of the World Cup.

A medium ban would be half to a full season.

A larger ban would be from every future international match on top of the previous.

But I'm guessing that he'll just get a fine and be put on Time Out for the rest of the afternoon.

The Bosnia that gave Argentina a very hard time? That Bosnia?
Yes, Bosnia, Greece and Switzerland, those range from joke to mediocre, and that's not counting the sad presentations of Spain, England, Italy and Portugal. And then you have Russia and Croacia, which had a not that sad world cup.

I mean, the only good presentations are Netherlands, first Germany match, and France (defeating Switzerland and Honduras, two subpar teams).

The point, besides the bad European performance on this world cup, is that Europe has too many slots. Why not give some of the joke slots, and let some more middle east, south Asian or Oceania teams?

I'm happy underdogs are doing well. Just commenting on the bandwagoning confederation crap that I had never seen in my life before.

yeah, I agree with you with the bandwagoning... but most of that is mostly "for the fun" of supporting the underdogs, don't take it too seriously.

CONCACAF teams are growing strong in the last few years, it's no coincidence they are doing this good in this WC.

the local leagues are getting stronger, and there are more and more concacaf players playing in european leagues each year.

It's not surprising that CONCACAF is doing better.

It's just funny that they all seem to be best friends now that they're all collectively doing much better than they have previously. They clearly have an inferiority complex.

Well they dominated two Euros as well. And I would argue that winning the Euro is just as tough.

Someone on Dutch TV put it quite nicely: The team should 'ban' a player like Suarez; not necessarilly the club or association.

If by some miracle Mexico beats Netherlands and Costa Rica beats Ivory Coast, you'll see that friendship over, don't you worry.

It will never change with Blatter and Platini at the the top. i'm already excited about the pat on the head Suarez will get.

James I forget who you root for but I wanna guess it may be Germany? Because you have a lot of that Italian-spite salt in you only a German would have.

Holy shit, so true. I'm also active on a german message board, and everyone is so happy about Italy losing. It's pathetic. People still so salty about the 2006 last-minute semi loss and the then ensuing car-parades in "our country".

European countries getting knocked out will be no surprise to anyone who has watched a World Cup before
European countries have historically performed poorly outside of Europe, and South American countries have historically performed poorly outside of the Americas

look at previous winners, only Brazil have managed to buck the trend to any great degree. home advantage is a real thing.

1930 winners Uruguay, in Uruguay
1934 winners Italy, in Italy
1938 winners Italy, in France
1950 winners Uruguay, in Brazil
1954 winners West Germany, in Switzerland
1958 winners Brazil, in Sweden
1962 winners Brazil, in Chile
1966 winners England, in England
1970 winners Brazil, in Mexico
1974 winners West Germany, in West Germany
1978 winners Argentina, in Argentina
1982 winners Italy, in Spain
1986 winners Argentina, in Mexico
1990 winners West Germany, in Italy
1994 winners Brazil, in United States
1998 winners France, in France
2002 winners Brazil, in Japan
2006 winners Italy, in Germany
2010 winners Spain, in South Africa

he would potentially only make one other world cup and even then he'd be 31, which is very old for a striker

1 year ban sounds appropriate, and I say this as a Liverpool fan who would much rather get bale money for him

I wasn't being completely serious.

Just sick of seeing the cunt. I'll be happier than anyone if Liverpool manage to ship him off.

Just because a lot of the European teams are sucking this year doesn't mean all of Europe sucks or that they don't deserve their spots. Germany, France, and Netherlands are all have good chances of making the finals.

Take 3 bids from Europe. Give CONMEBOL 6, CONCACAF 5, Oceania 1 (because pity) and call it a day.

I'd be ok with this, but I'm also fine with Europe keeping the amount of teams they get right now.

Does Champions League play fall under a general FIFA ban? Would Suarez possibly be out of CL play if some massive ban is handed down by FIFA?

A worldwide ban would mean everything. Internationals, domestic, European club competitions.

They aren't unheard of. Cantona was handed a nine month worldwide ban after he kung-fu kicked a racist fan.

I see your point but if we're talking quality, Middle east or Southern Asia isn't going to perform better than Switzerland or Bosnia. Oceania dunno, NZ perhaps?

Honduras, the CONCACAF number 3 or 4, are perhaps the worst team at this cup. If we take another CONMEBOL team, its going to be Venezuela or something.

because we have been inferior so long and still have a way to go. but when we're usually whooping boys and then have success it's easy for us to get excited.

He really should get some kind of ban from football, be interesting to see what FIFA do.

It's also no surprise to see European teams struggling.

That comes from years of actually being inferior...lol. Trust me, most of us are just pretending to be friends and rooting for the underdogs in CONCACAF. I actually like watching the UEFA teams more than any other region.

Haha. Instead focusing on the ball he wants to hug cavanigod.

Shame.

They did that several times today, and when Cavani went down everyone called it a dive... Which it probably was, cause you can stay on your feet, but the refs are fucking embarrassing at spotting that stuff, should be punished more. Skrtel does it at every single corner against Liverpool too, the refs never cares.

If Switzerland is a subpar team, what does that make Ecuador, the 4th placed team in the CONMEBOL qualys?

Nah, the frienship will be over even if both are eliminated in the next round and don't have to play against each other. As soon as the WC is over it will be war again

That friendship is only showing here. We are mortal enemies.

I can't even imagine what will happen if both Mexico and Costa Rica make it and face each other.

I can't speak for everyone, but as a concacafian, I'm happy that everyone is doing great because it will "raise the bar" during the qualifications of Russia 2018.

Mexico used to qualify without even trying, and this time almost didn't make it. We'll had to get better to avoid getting left behind.

I've always supported the idea of uniting the whole American continent in a confederation, it would be good for the competition and rising the quality level.

with all due respect; I would rather to see Mexico competing against Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, etc, instead of Jamaica, San Vicente, Guatemala, etc.
