I meant that in PW, once you completed your objective ("Arrive at point B"), a cutscene played and you were brought back to the menu.
In TPP, you complete your objective ("Arrive at point B"/rescue Miller) but the player still must play on, by getting to the choppa, to exit the stage. My suggestion was, with near unlimited fultoning abilities, you could face minimal resistance in exiting the stage. Of course, all of this is one mighty big assumption, and based on the fact you could fulton every enemy on each level of PW as there were only 10 or so, not the case with TPP.
Sorry for the confusion, I wasn't talking about your post he was replying to. I was talking about Sean Eyestone when he said fultoning the crate with Big Boss would abort the mission when I said "he might have meant". :P But yeah, I totally get what you're saying. Basically, I completely misunderstood the conversation and shouldn't have butt in.

Finally got fed up with Watch Dogs being boring as hell and decided to play through Ground Zeroes again tonight. I can't get over how awesome it is and how psyched I am for Phantom Pain. Kojima is going to deliver a masterpiece.

No worries, I fear my syntax is all over the place tonight.

I was looking at the thread for the 2013 E3 trailer after watching that CVG video, and, uh, found this interesting post.

I had a lot of catching up to do in this thread. Reguarding Fultoning and Tranqs breaking the game or making options meaningless: The demo was obviously for demonstration purposes, fultoning will most likely require a lot of upgrades and I don't think it will function like that until very late in the game. Same goes for tranqs---The suppressor will most likely wear out very quickly from the get-go, meaning you'll have to choose who you tranq carefully.

Regarding the missing camo index---We already have proof that you can change your camouflage, although probably only before missions like in Peace Walker. As for a camo index, the system is now internalized: The more vertical your profile is, the more visible you are. The faster you're moving, the more visible you are. Tall grass and other similar environmental objects make you less visible. If you're playing on "Hard", you're more visible. You're less visible at night than in the day, unless you're illuminated by a light from a building, or a flashlight, or a searchlight, etc. It's all obvious stuff, and added a camo index would only reduce immersion and take your attention away from what's actually happening on screen.

Also, I have a new theory about Ishmael's identity: what if he was the medic in Big Boss's chopper? It would explain Kaz's "what about him" and it would explain why the medic and Ishmael have the same voice actor---when we saw the GDC demo, they just hadn't pitched Ishmael's voice down yet.

That has been a popular theory. It's possible, considering he took the blunt force of the explosion, but I figured it killed him. That medic really wasn't important other than he operated on Paz. His face is still covered after 9 years. What injury requires you to still be in a hospital after 9 years with bandages? My money is that he's either Decoy Octopus or a hallucination. It being Decoy could be plausible considering some of the FoxHound members of the Shadow Moses uprising are known former Outer Heaven mercenaries.

Ocelot looks a little too much like Troy Baker... almost seems like an actor who appeared in both Infamous and now MGS like a movie star or something

Anyway, is there a 60fps video floating around of this footage?

Ocelot's hair looks dead scruffy... I mean borderline HOBO...
They could have at least make him gel it back... Or put it in a tail.

With the implied duality in TPP, the nine year coma, "V has come to", plentiful torture, hallucinations, Ishmael and even Big Boss standing alongside Skull Face, it feels like there are more points of inspiration from 1984 and that Zero might indeed be indoctrinating Big Boss with his venom, hurling him into his decent into madness, turning him into a monster that goes nuclear and destroys his true self, Big Boss, the legend of the battlefield. Although the recent E3 trailer is a lot more down to earth than some of the previous ones, I can't help but think we'll see some terrible mindfuckery in this game. Re-watching all of the old trailers, I get this feeling of deception being pulled on Big Boss (and on us all), like he's being handheld throughout his actions, from Ishmael, being rescued and instructed by Ocelot to riding in the same vehicle with Skull Face, like a god damn Call of Duty NPC guiding you through the corridors. Or being played like a fiddle.

I think it's going to go even further than this. The manipulation will be essentially part of the birth of the Patriot AI systems, or at least the idea of them. The quote about research in Africa being "bigger than Metal Gear" from the end of the 2013 Red Band trailer - I'm willing to bet we'll see how Cipher will be essentially about controlling the situation and the information surrounding it to make BB fall from grace and to change public perception of him.

So we'll see this play out with BB basically being manipulated into doing a whole load of awful things, all of which he thinks is going to lead him to his 'revenge', but all of which are making him appear like a monster to everyone.

Thus, by the end of the game, we'll still view BB as a tragic, sympathetic figure who was basically tricked (similar to how Lucas wanted everyone to see Anakin/Vader), but in the game world, BB becomes a monster. It'd be the perfect precursor to the following games where the Patriot proxies are basically pulling the strings behind the scenes all the time.

Or something. I don't know. I'm quite tired, and don't seem to be able to fully articulate this stuff today :(

With the idea that Big Boss has memory loss and so he (and we the player) learn more about what has and is happening as the game progresses, I could see this being the 'twist' in the game, and maybe Big Boss goes even further down the path of crazy when realising the deception.

I used to think that all of that will actually be happening to Solidus as we see the final stages of the process of indoctrination, turning the perfect clone into Zero's twisted version of Big Boss, but I'm more inclined to think it'll all be done to Big Boss himself. On one hand, Venom Snake being Solidus would be a sort of a proto-SSS experiment to establish JD's primary goals, but who knows. In the end, Big Boss might really end up back leading FOXHOUND for Zero as a double agent while secretly building Outer Heaven, maybe with the help of Ocelot or even Skull Face. Lol, just realized Outer Heaven's logo is a "Skull Face", somehow never made the connection. :)

I think that Big Boss' discovery of just how far the Les Enfants Terrible project went will be pivotal to breaking his will and take him deep into insanity. I can't quite remember but he's not really aware of the project, is he? Haven't played Portable Ops and I can't remember if it's even being mentioned in Peace Walker.

Btw, I haven't played GZ, how is it implied that XOF is associated with Cypher? That means that Skull Face and his soldiers strip their XOF insignias en route to Mother Base to cover their identity from Kaz? I somehow got the impression they're abandoning their name as an act of rebellion, kind of like Liquid and his FOXHOUND unit taking over Shadow Moses island. The scene with Skull Face disembarking from a chopper while wearing the domino mask however still has them wearing the XOF insignia. That scene actually looks like it might be set on Mother Base 2.0, his first formal introduction to Big Boss and Kaz.

Young Oldman. Btw, what's up with the poster behind him? That's from Gyllenhall's movie Enemy about a guy that finds out there's an actor looking exactly like him, right?
Solidus confirmed!
Did Kojima talk about the movie somewhere?

Nah, man. I dig that. Makes more sense than most of the theories flying around.

That's been a theory for a long time, though. It's actually been a theory since before Peace Walker came out. Unless he's saying it was his idea, it's fair game.

I was half-joking but Dan reads GAF so ... anyway i hope it's true. I want to play as young Solid Snake voiced by David Hayter and see him in glorious Fox Engine.

Came across this art again which I think looks cool.

Seeing as he still has the hookarm, I assume it's something that will take place between the Hospital and Afghanistan? Or then again it might just be concept art and not really depict any specific moment or scene in the game.

Robin Atkin Downes (Kaz) posted a small teaser video on his instagram teasing some new voice recording.

Goddamn, they're still doing voice recordings. Early 2015? haha don't think so.

btw. who the hell said "Shut up, Miller"? was that Eli??

I can see him being just a rude kid and that voice in the video would fit him.

Kojima probably took the fans' "Miller talks too much" complaints and ran with them. He's probably going to turn Miller into a mute - just like Snake. Fact: Hideo Kojima is paying Kiefer Sutherland and Robin Atkin Downes by the line.

I think Troy Baker posted a tweet of his last lines for TLOU like 2 or 3 months before the game shipped.

This game can still come out Early 2015.

Is that actually something that's confirmed or is that just a joke from the fanbase?

Joke, sorry! While the bit about Kiefer and Atkin Downes being paid by the line is 100% a joke, Kojima Productions staff has confirmed that they will cut down Miller's chatter in The Phantom Pain, and you will be able to access the information he gives you through your iDroid. (This seems to be referring to the type of information that repeats itself on subsequent playthroughs of Ground Zeroes.)

Ah that's good. From what we've seen he gets at least two monologues. As unfortunate as that is...
