Shovel Knight |OT| The 8-bit adventures of Butt Butt Goes to Europe & Australia

Finally got to play the first two levels this evening. Well, my wife played the first one and I played Specter Knight's level. What a fun, awesome game. From where I was sitting Black Knight was a bit harder for a first boss than Specter Knight was for a second or third boss. Anyway, the game is everything I was hoping and expecting it to be, controls super-smoothly, and it just a ton of fun to play. I'm glad everyone seems to be having such a great time with it.

Alright so after looking at Giant Bombs quick look of the game I'm sold. Weird that I didn't hear about this game until a few days ago. Pleasant surprise for my new Wii U. Going to go pick up an eShop card in a few hours

edit: Maybe I won't :(

Am I missing something? How do you break checkpoints? I hit them a whole bunch of times in the first stage and none broke. Do I need an upgrade?

The ones in the first stage are unbreakable. If they have golden "wings" surrounding the bubble, you can't break them. It's like this in the first stage and the first checkpoint in one of the special modes.

Was there a steam summer sale on this and if not do you guys think there will be one? This game looks pretty fun.

edit: just noticed its release date

Found a bug with treasure knight, he grappled into the left wall as I jumped over him and he got perma-stuck on the wall. Hit him until he died stuck there.

So, has the soundtrack been released yet? Can't get enough of it :D

Found it on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/results?filters=week&lclk=week&search_query=shovel+knight+soundtrack

Not sure if it's officially released though.

You just can't do it in the first stage. Try again in the next one.

Shovel Knight is trending on Twitter for me.

I know it's tailored to a degree, but mostly for gaming I just see big publisher stuff or whatever.

Whaaat? Bullshit. I was taxed on my 3DS e-Shop purchase. Where are you from?

North Carolina, however, I'm pretty sure my purchases are setup for Colorado from when I lived there. During my first purchase I had to enter my zip code, but I didn't have to do that when I purchased Shovel Knight.

Are the controls (jumping etc) really that bad? I'm not expecting Super Meat Boy level of flexibility but I hate the rigid movement in 8-bit era games.

Were the promised stretched goals not added to the game or something? Saw people asking about the Female character and playable boss characters. Are they going to be patched in later or something?

They are spot on for me. Anyone experiencing problems is either having an error with their equipment or just sucks at the game.

Game is awesome btw, so don't hesitate in buying it.

Playing it on 3DS. Great fun so far but circle pad is terrible for platformers like this. Had to switch to dpad after fifth time catapulting off a ledge while trying to bounce on a bottle

Starting a no upgrades, no relics, no checkpoints run. Just defeated Specter Knight. Going with Plague Knight next, and while his stage isn't nearly as tough as Treasure Knight's, defeating him is gonna be a pain.

This game is fucking awesome, it fits the 3DS so well and it is miles better than anything wayforward has ever made. I bet they are just kicking themselves they didn't make this.

Yeah, so far anyone hoping for another Mega Man 9 in the difficulty department is getting a Mega Man 5 here. Not gonna complain about the difficulty until I try NG+ though. Structure, pacing, controls, and mechanics are just great.

Can't comment on how much the invincibility locket breaks the game, I've yet to find much reason to bother using it.

Got the game on Steam. This game proves that 2D sidescrollers and 8-bit style games still have plenty of juice left.

The PC version also natively supports the DualShock 4 as well, even showing the PS button icons in-game. Nice!
