Sure. I am trying to track progress before my trip in September!

Old weight loss from 2010/2011
Got up to probably 190 at my worst :( the one in the top left corner.

Then got down to 145 or so.

Stuff from the last few months:
Recently back up to about 170 from long hours and desk job, nooooo.

Working out a bunch now in the hopes of getting photo-worthy for a trip in September.

I've lost a couple of inches off my waist since I started working out again and I'm not looking at the scale but hoping I'm either hovering around 160 or maaaybe have edged into the 150s, but not sure and I won't be checking.

What ever happens yo are going to have smashing photos from that epic trip. Trust me!

chrs fitgaf, was a 38" waist and 15st

now I'm just shy of 13st and a 34"

I just wanted to say you really remind me of Paul Dano in the first pic, I hope you don't take that as an insult. It is just the haircut and the facial expression. But good results!

Good results for every single person in this thread who has shared their results already btw.

Really inspiring thread guys. There are some great stories here.

Funny this should pop up now as I'm on my own get-fit drive right now.

Reading your stories and seeing the transformation pics has given me a little extra motivation to get my ass outside and work up a sweat.

Amazing, masterful work to everyone.

My progress is going to be a two-parter.

First, let's start with my overall fitness.

This was me back in around 1999. I was about 230 lbs. I had a 36" waist.

Fast forward to 2012 and these pics were my introduction to FitGaf. I weighed about 185 and I have a 33" waist.

Here's the second part when my progress was completely stalled due to an injury in my left elbow. I had to get surgery to resolve it.

This taken in Oct 2013. It was when I arrived home from the surgery.

These were taken about two weeks later. It was the day I got the cast removed.

I also had to go to rehab and take it really slow with the gym. I didn't hit the weights for over two months after the surgery.

These pics were taken in Feb. I had returned to the gym for about a couple of weeks.

I can see that I lost quite a bit of definition and a little muscle. Funny thing is that the surgery happened a month before my birthday. I was still in my 30's prior to it. It's like overnight I became a 40 year old bastard.

This was taken about a month later. At this point, I was starting to lose some of the extra weight that I've packed on. I was also gradually increasing the level of weights at the gym.

I took these pics last month. I think I'm making some decent progress.

Working out 5 days a week and not looking a thing like this. What the fuck is going on

Post your program and diet?

Are you adding weight to the bar?

And if you're working 5 days, it could be a programming issue, possibly too much accessory and not enough compounds--squats, dead lifts, bench, over head press, rows.

So happy many of you are getting in shape and being healthy. I've been religiously eating right and working out for almost 2 years now and so glad i did. I never ever had a 6 pack and wanted one so bad.

July 2013-2014 was a fun transition.

started @ 240

cut down to 225 ish

went on a dreamers bulk my way to 270 lbs

currently cut down to 242

day 0 vs now

Still have a long way to go to get to my end game:

You look better right now than your end goal wrestler guy. Yeah, I said it.

Awesome stuff from everyone!

Here's me in 2010, circa 56kg. At this point I had just started lifting but was doing a ridiculous amount of cardio (like running half marathons for funsies).

Here's me (on the left) in April 2014 at around 64kg having since just been focusing on powerlifting the past few years:

Currently trying to put on size so probably around 67-68kg.

Current 1RMs:
Bench Press 100kg
Squat 155kg (old video doing 152.5kg x 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhCINz7sEGI)
Deadlift 190kg (old video doing 180kg x 5 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5g61zprnng)

I've been a bigtime lurker and occasional poster in FitGAF for years now. It's helped keep me in line, build new routines, and get encouragement to try things. My journey of fitness is somewhat similar to what a lot of people have, mainly that I was a really chubby kid who always struggled with weight. I thinned out a bit in high school due to puberty, but packed on some weight due to excessive drinking in college. This is what I'm considering my starting point, which is about 8 years ago.

End of college, just turned 22, drinking way too much, eating like crap, and working out maybe once or twice a week. 5'11'' approximately 195. I'm in the middle:

zIYNjjh.jpg

I decided to get in shape after college so I basically did what a bunch of people do, I started running like crazy, eating barely nothing, and doing a "split" workout that barely hit my legs at all. I lost a bunch of weight and got close to 165, but didn't build much muscle. Unfortunately don't have a good pic at that time.

Around 2008 I got moved with my job and really started reading more about fitness and the best way to keep in shape. It was at this point that I started Starting Strength and figured out the big movements. I've been lifting fairly regularly ever since, and after just turning 30 in May I look like this:

After a pretty awesome 4th of July weekend in Charleston I certainly don't look as cut up due to major bloating today, but I'm looking forward to continuing to progress! I really want to thank all the great advice I've gotten in FitGAF and am looking forward to continuing to learn and hopefully teach for a long time.

This is a really inspiring thread. I admire FitGAF's dedication and progress. I always say I'm tempted to work out more (as in, at all these days) and firm up the lower half, and seeing the progress 'reports' from you guys, especially the women, is cool. Much respect to all you guys.

You look better right now than your end goal wrestler guy. Yeah, I said it.

I was thinking the same thing, honestly. In many ways, FE, I think you've surpassed Tanahashi.

The stomach is just a matter of time but his chest, shoulders, and arms all surpass his goal IMO.

This is my progress in the past year. My main goal is to get to the point where I don't have to pick one of 50 shots to actually show progress. I think I'm about 2 years away from this.

Damn todd. I don't remember seeing a pic in FitGaf. You should be proud of that. I think it's in the upper percentile for just one year of training. Keep at it!

Thanks. I admit I cut out the bottom half, because the extra weight hasn't been kind in that area. I'll worry about that come spring (or so I tell myself).

I really love all the action that has happened to your chest and shoulders! Awesome work sweetie!

You're always so sweet sadetar. Have you posted your progress in here already? I remember you changed a lot.

EDIT: yeah! I just saw it from my pc lol
Awwww, so very polite of you to say so! Thank you! You made my day! ^_^

My body is a work in progress but first time in my life I feel like I am going to the right direction. Can't wait to see what will I manage to carve out of it.

Your comment is highly appreciated! I am always amazed by the FitGAF's ability to exceed my expectations in so many different levels. I haven't never in my life met such adorable and motivational people! <3

Brendonia, you have a gorgeous back!
I am trying to behave and don't say more than that. :p

Great King Bowser, I love the changes on your upper body! Looking good!

rokkerkory, your dedication is astonishing and your body definitely speaks for itself! Wonderful, just wonderful!

Szu
, I have been missing your silly posts and pics! I don't think I have seen your starting point before. Great work!

FE, like said, you do look better than your goal! :D

Gotta contribute I guess even though I'm probably one of the weakest members of FitGAF. Stumbled upon FitGAF during OT3 so a couple of years ago. Been an active member ever since. I've been kinda lucky in that I only wasted six months of my training career doing a machine split given to me at my gym. Got bored of that pretty quickly but got interested in training again a year or so later. This time I basically immediately stumbled upon FitGAF, StrongLifts 5x5 and Fitocracy. This meant that I learned the right stuff like doing full body barbell training and why it was important. SL 5x5 and being an early member of Fitocracy led me towards proper training even before I stumbled upon FitGAF and the community here took care of the rest. Found Starting Strength at the beginning also which was extremely valuable.

During these few years I've researched training and nutrition and applied it to myself. I've been "skinnyfat" my all life and it still shows. I can get rid of fat easily but my body also packs it up extremely easy. Staying lean-ish is very hard.

Here's a before pic from 2011. Lifetime of not doing anything physical activity is obvious here:
14411003189_8d88b140c6_o.jpg

Somewhere between there and now I started seriously lifting. Progress hasn't been optimal in any way but I'm getting there at least. Slowly but steadily I hope.

This is where I'm now:
14410944370_166730469a_b.jpg

Needless to say that FitGAF has been extremely valuable up until this point and still continues to be. There are so many experts who you can consult and who post valuable information. I don't know where I would be without you guys!

The thing about fitgaf is we have people who pretty much do a bit of everything. So no matter the question there's typically someone there to give ya some advice. Our pictures/videos speak for themselves.

Thanks peeps. The harshest critic will always be myself so to hear that I am close or have surpassed some elements on Tanahashi is a fantastic feeling. Really makes it all worth while.

The FitGaf community has been great. Really has changed my life.

Always been a lurker in FitGaff, this being my first post in it.

Me 1 month before my 19th birthday (at this point I had just started going to the gym, but was still doing a lot of 5k runs etc), I really hate how I look here, it looks really unhealthy, I wasn't eating well either being my first year at university.

538125_10151319388544069_1775039296_n.jpg

Fast forward to a month after my 20th birthday (so 14 months) and this is me now, so much more pleased. Pretty much just been gaining for the whole year since I was so skinny.

10508333_10201344524695726_1896678171_n.jpg

I was ~ 145 lbs at 6'3 and now I'm 187 lbs at 6'4.

Sadly I don't have any before pics but he's my progress. I'm a lurker of fit gaf, and the advice you get in there is awesome. I'm glad I tried out SS (Starting Strength) I seem to making good gains.

Finally to all the people who are considering working out but are not sure let me just leave this picture here.

You see that guy on the right, that's my uncle and he is 50. To me he looks nowhere near 50, gym keeps you looking young folks
also black does not crack

Im still in my cutting phase, i'm 6'2 and 176.8 pounds (started at 208), dropped my body fat from 25% down to 16-18%, hopefully i'll get to 10% in some months, so i can start bulking.

Spectacular progress everyone. Really inspiring great job.
Cooter you look fantastic as always. Great pic, Tahoe looks especially nice that day.
Sean and Falling Edge you guys have made unbelievable progress just stellar stuff.

Keep it up everyone.

I don't have a good picture from just before I started losing weight a few years ago, but I looked pretty much like this picture:
OB9AZgs.jpg

Here's a picture from about a year ago:
QKeDi59.jpg

Currently my shoulders & arms are a little bigger and I don't wear glasses any more (laser eye surgery).

In 2010 I went on a super low-carb, Primal diet and dropped from 215 to about 149 (which is too light for me) with very little exercise. I bounced back up to about 165 in maintenance mode & held that for about a year, then when crunch hit in 2011 I was up around 185 or so. Then in January 2012 I found Beachbody workout programs. Since then I've done Power90, Insanity, P90X, Insanity: The Asylum Volume 1, P90X2, Les Mills Combat, Body Beast, Focus T25 (was finishing this up when the After picture above was taken), a hybrid T25/Body Beast/P90X/P90X2 schedule, P90X3, P90X3 Elite, and now I'm about 3 weeks from finishing P90X3 Doubles. Kind of addicted to exercising every morning now! I went from a (tight) size 44 waist to size 32, which is smaller than I've ever been as an adult.

Oh, and I'm almost 50. Never too late to start.

Now that is what you call progress, awesome job!

Grimløck;119998408 said:
god damn. how did you add so much bulk?

Not sure if referring to me, but doubled my calorie intake, ate clean, gym 6 times a week.

Incredibly I achieved that whilst drinking over 350ml vodka ~3 times a week (uni lifestyle for you!), can't imagine how much better it would have been without all the drinking.

I'll go ahead and post the results of my fitness journey though I don't quite have to much to show recently as I'm still cutting down for a rather long bulk. Soon. :) But this thread always has such a crazy motivating vibe that I figured I'd join in.

I was obese nearly all my life, hitting 280 at my biggest. Started college (7 years ago) and decided it was time to make a change. Having health issues at 21 was not a good sign for the future of my life. So I started eating better and then soon after began lifting weights.
1929858_32770070370_4415_n.jpg

That's me early into the journey at just over 240 lbs (40 lbs down!)

I cut down more and put on mass for the next 3 years and eventually got down to about 190 lbs.

40385_10150245008575082_6034292_n.jpg

Then I hit a major roadblock in life. I was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lung artery) in 2011. I completely turned my life upside down. I was given strict orders to not workout for SIX MONTHS and don't absolutely no form of engaging activity due to the damage done to my heart. Needless to say nearly dying coupled with being told to not set foot in a gym for half a year was literally motifying.

(2011)

Here's me right after being released from the hospital:

180111_10150394831365082_2853644_n.jpg

I ended up putting back on some fat (about 20 lbs) and losing a lot of the mass had put on.

Despite all this, the second I got the OK to lift heavy again. I was determined to gain it all back and then some. I cut back down, and despite losing a lot of the mass still got into the best shape of my life:

252515_10150621944215082_6687322_n.jpg

This is about when I started lurking FitGAF (2012) I took up the popular bulking/strength program in the thread at the time. 5/3/1 BBB. I bulked up and put on roughly 10 lbs of mass.

Going from 175 to a mean and lean 186. At least 10 lbs of muscle gain!

And I never skipped leg day
often.

Now I've been cutting down from another big bulk. Can't wait to share more of my journey in the next few months. Kudos to all the hard work shown in this thread.

I'm sorry my post was so long, but it's been a crazy journey!!!

First time I saw DarthWufei's pics from when he was overweight. That's some inspiring stuff, man.

Awesome do you mind sharing your routine? I'm working out more, eating well, and the ideal physique I want to achieve is in your pics!

Currently aiming to get back to that point and exceed it, by Christmas, using what worked for me last time (P90X & X2). Running a Tough Mudder in September and am training hard everyday to make sure I don't die during that... so this thread (and the P90X thread) should help keep me motivated. Best of luck to everyone with their own goals!
Where are you doing the mudder @?

January 2013: 335lb

January 2014: 195lb

Current Weight: 215lb

Starting a cut today, looking to cut back to 190lb

AMAZING work!! Seriously, not many people make that kind of change in a year!

Great progress everyone.

My brief story:

Me and my wife on our honeymoon in 2008. She's toned up quite a bit, too, by the way. Note my chubby face and gut. I weighed about 220 here:

Saw that picture, and others, and started running. Running my ass off. Very little lifting, unfortunately. Here's me in about 2010. Somewhat skinny-fat, and little definition. I could bench maybe 135-ish. I weighed about 175 here:

About 2 years ago, I started hitting the weights hard, and cutting back on running. Just recently, I started boxing to shed a bit of fat. These were taken just a few minutes ago. I still have a LITTLE bit of love handle action (I like beer), but I am very happy with my strength gains. People at work have been coming to me for fitness advice, which is a really awesome feeling.

I am now working with 215 on the bench, and weight just under 200 lbs:

Might as well drop mine here as well.

ZsNoCUs.jpg

A little over a year progress. Started out at ~68 kg, bulked up to 84 kg and dropped down to 77 kg for summer. Taking it easy during summer and planning to start off again seriously in fall. Want to be ~95 kg by next spring and ~86 kg by next summer.
