The plastic aint normal at all, if that wasnt obvious. That almost sounds like terrible glue gun work... is your system moded?
Drakon? Lol.

Haha pretty much. Let the hate flow, keep the prices low.
I dunno, Predator 2 is starting to climb, and Robocop vs Terminator actually seems to be in the low 20s now? At any rate I think i'm going to go back to just going after carts only, and if I see a really good price complete, then i'll roll with that.
The Genesis Aladdin playthrough was sad.
I personally don't care too much about the prices. I'd rather the system got the respect it deserves, honestly.
Drakon? Lol.
Aren't you the one who bought "instant collections" for several consoles over the past year? Price may be meaningless for you, but for us plebes it's an important consideration.
After Burner & Space Harrier were easily the best ports for their time & worth checking out, Kolibri is arguably the greatest hummingbird simulator of our time
I don't think anybody deserves any blame for the state of affairs, but I do think it's an unfortunate situation and not necessarily healthy. I'd love to get in on the SNES but when I think about the investment I'd have to put into it in order to get what I want out of it I can't help but feel as if that boat has sailed. That attitude is so shitty. Nobody talks like that about other products. Nobody gets on people's cases about contributing to rising gas prices because they don't drive the most fuel efficient vehicle or whatever.
High prices for SNES carts haven't "killed" the retro community for SNES games. It's plenty healthy. If anything, the high prices are symptomatic of a community that's better than ever. The kind of attitude that kills a community is the one that shuts out people for just wanting to buy games and collect them. If it wasn't me increasing the demand for Genesis carts, it would have been you.
As somebody who grew up an SNES kid but didn't pick sides in the "console war", and who now has a Genesis library to rival my childhood SNES library, it's short-sighted, even downright ignorant, to be so negative about the Genesis library. Even if one is not personally a fan of the Sonic titles (I'm not), there's still plenty of fantastic and unique games from Sega themselves, and that's not even getting into all the amazing third party games for the system by Capcom, Konami, Namco, Compile, Treasure, etc.The fact that they even played another Genesis game at all surprised the hell out of me after that. I was actually starting to get optimistic that they might play some other Genesis games when I saw Decap Attack pop up. But then they started to go into the dismissive attitudes about the system again and dashed my hopes.
Here's a picture of that sweet melted plastic. Sounds pretty universal for these units. Again, this is my Taiwan made system; the Japanese one is a bit cleaner, though still melted.

So this is interesting. It looks like my older Genesis, the one in that image, DOES work... it's a pre TMSS model. Maybe it just didn't like the unofficial power supply I was trying it with before? Dunno. However, the audio is borked. Very metallic and echoey. Bad caps?
Here's the board:

Both models exhibit the horizontal sync issue, though. I'm wondering if it's the RGB21 cable I'm using? The XRGB Mini clearly doesn't like something going on in there. My other unit is a Japanese made V6 with TMSS; it sounds fantastic.
If you can get that non-tmss board sorted then you'd join me and Ninja in the non-tmss master race.![]()
As I stated in my edit, melted plastic joints are normal. I think your description of "completely sealed" just threw me. I have no experience with JP21 setups and I'm no expert at identifying bad circuitry. A modder might be able to help you out.

Sorry i'm no help at all.
Edit: Damn son, a VA2 board! That would make this a pretty old genny. Its possible some caps have dried up.
I think the VA2 was the first USA model? Definitely quite early. I'll probably get a cap kit for this one and see if I can fix it up; nice little project.
I do wish I knew what was up with the H-Sync though. So strange. It's got to be my cable or some XRGB setting; clearly the issue is not in the systems.
EDIT: Huh. I'm reading that the VA2 seems to have sound issues that could match what I'm hearing out of the headphone jack. The volume has to be completely cranked to work properly, or something like that? I'll mess with it tonight, I guess.
I'm still thinking I might get rid of both of my Model 1 Genesis systems for a late Model 2. I don't know if anyone's interested in that kind of trade, but it's on the table.
Where do you live? I may be up for it. I got a few bare Model 2s I'm not using.
I dunno, for some reason it just makes me think of the Extreme Paintbrawl "soundtrack". It's better than that, but it's what it makes me think of.So, everyone shits on Wild Woody, and rightfully so. The game had some cool ideas, but it just doesn't control well, and it takes most of the fun the game could have been, out of it. Mind you, its also very much a product of its time with all that 'Tude.
What i have come to claim though, is that buried among that shit, is an awesome soundtrack. The first stage of the game does it no justice, the soundtrack for this game is so much better then everything else that has to do with the game.

Its certainly not perfect, but it has some excellent tracks on it, and even the bad tracks have this "So bad its good" quality to me. Sad its tied to one of Sega's weakest games.

I thought it was a few bucks at most.
Holy shit, it starts at $20. What is wrong with people?
I'm guessing it's just because Sega CD games as a whole are bubbling like SNES and Saturn games are. The Genesis hasn't been hit with this bubble to nearly the same extent, but those consoles, hooooo boy.
NYC, good sir! PM me if you'd like photos etc.
Yeah i think im gonna try to go ahead and get the CD games I want asap.
Sonic CD
Android Assault
Robo Aleste
Silpheed
Lunar 1
Lunar 2
Final Fight CD
Vay
Dungeon Explorer
Keio Flying Squadron
Popful Mail
The Terminator
Already knocked Sonic CD, Lunar 1, and Final Fight off the list. I kinda want Panic for the hell of it. Ever since Gunstar reviewed it, i've been curious.
It's a somewhat uncommon game because it was a late release (1995) and not many people bought it. So, it still has some value.I thought it was a few bucks at most.

It's not a bad game though!Let's spread the word about Sega so even bad games are expensive!
I've always been shocked how cheap Panic is. Terminator and Dungeon Explorer ive seen sneak under the radar and go for cheap prices, even Lunar 1 and Vay can. Just jeep your eyes on auctions if you see any of then go up.
Ive been very lucky with Sega CD, but i still have some of the Cardboard games (Time Gal and Road Avenger specifically) staring me down, as well as Keio and Space Adventure Cobra. Almost at 100 games though, so im getting there.
Lastly, everyone should have Lords Of Thunder in their collection
Personally, I've already got Final Fight CD (disk only), Flink and Snatcher, so I'd like to move on to Shining Force CD, Popful Mail and Earthworm Jim Special Edition at some point.

Look, lets not kid ourselves here man. I can see where the game COULD be fun, but the controls are so busted dude. Then again, i'll defend Wirehead to my last breath, so maybe i shouldn't talk.

Wirehead is a great game to watch somebody else play.
Oh, weird I had no idea there was a cart version of Sol Feace. Looks like the intro got totally butchered though.I've already got Lords on PC engine. I was sooo close to getting Vay for like 30 bucks...twice, but no dice. I know Sonic CD can be had for cheap/the definitive version, but i'd just like to have a physical copy to play with a genesis controller (and i've already got it on my 360, Steam, and on my phone...so why not lol).
Yeah the Final Fight I ordered was disc only. Im not really bothered by complete, but if its there for a good price, i'll bite. Earthworm Jim i'd like to get, but i'm in no rush for that.
Sol Deace i'm leaving alone since i've got the cart, and imo the music sounds better there. I think I want Flashback but i'm not sure.

Anyone enjoy Predator 2 on the Genesis? It's one of those licensed games that gets shit on but I actually think it's pretty good. It's fairly accurate to the film and it plays like a pretty decent Smash TV clone. It's easily the best solo Predator game... Not that that's saying a helluva lot.
