I'll definitely get this whenever I pick up a PS4. Must buy!
because people who played it @ 30fps on PS3 might find 60fps on PS4 jarring, ill try both... im probably going to stick to 30 locked. same with infamous...(which looked better at locked 30 since the jittery look a variable 60fps gives off...)
It doesn't and I say that as a PC player mostly with no delusions over the PS4's power. This is a remaster done in a year yet people expect this to be a full remake. If the devs wanted to spend more time and make this a full remake, they could have.
Apparently I should expect remasters to basically be brand new games with only one year to work on it.
I'm only getting it for the MP and was indifferent on the remaster otherwise. I just wonder why people expected a completely different looking game given the clear message that it was a remaster mostly for people who haven't played it before.
30/24fps "cinematic" hads the slow fluid moment and motion blur ( lower framerates increases the intensity of motion blur in film) in an attempt to recreate a picture in same way the human eye perceives the world in.30/24fps being "cinematic" is merely a construct due to people being used to that.
i have a 29" lg uhd monitor, a 60 in Samsung TV, from the screenshots im seeing, they look damn near the same, not the bump you'd expect with all the power tht the ps4 has, your effectively playing 50$ for 1080p & 60fps.

Well if you switch from console to PC, yes. I'm talking solely about PC, though. If I buy bioshock on ps3 I have to buy bioshock on pc to take advantage of the improved hardware.
It's the same thing.
Half of replies: "Must be bullshots because IQ is almost perfect" while the other half goes "I guess they're OK. Expected better". How is this even possible?
Yup, looks the same:

You should get your eyesight checked.

To me the pics look like they've been touched up a bit. I expect the game to look pretty darn close to that though.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding but does he mean that 60 fps was possible and they decided against it because people prefer 30 fps like last gen?Seems people are talking more about IQ than FPS in here but I may aswell post it

Not a big gap but not bad.
its just not blurry, i dont see how this is amazing.

Why the hell would you use sharpening after adding high quality AA? They didn't do that on UC4 trailer - it's the kind of stupidity the XB1 scaler got laughed at to no end, until they removed it. It literally makes no sense because people who like to use that effect can always make it happen by pressing few buttons on their TV remote. There is a talk on B3D that these screenshots could indeed be in-engine. Something like 4x MSAA with strong sharpening filter or probably that black magic that ND used for the realtime demo of Uncharted 4 [which looked perfect with minimal artifacting that only very patient people can find after deep examination].
It makes sense that they would use some stuff they built for Uncharted 4 on their first PS4 game.

If you buy Bioshock on PC, you don't have to rebuy it later on if you upgrade or even buy a new computer.
Its totally not the same thing and you know it.
if i'm playing X-COM on my ipad and then switch to my PC, i'm expecting to buy a new copy of the game
if I'm playing X-COM on my ps3 and then switch to 360, i'm expecting to buy a new copy of the game.
if i'm playing DW8 on my Ps3, and then switch to a ps4, and then switch to my pc, i'm expecting that i'll have paid for the game 3 times.
New Platform, new copy of the game.
A ps4 is more than just a bigger video card and hard drive and you know it.
Why do you keep talking about switching platforms?if i'm playing X-COM on my ipad and then switch to my PC, i'm expecting to buy a new copy of the game

lol jakes on you, shadow fall actually looks like that son.

If you buy it on PC and you upgrade your PC or buy a new one, you *don't* have to buy a new copy of the game.
Yup. Exactly. And it means you have to rebuy a game to play it with a higher resolution/framerate, and only if the developer chooses to release it.Because two different consoles even from the same manufacturer are in the majority of cases, for all intents and purposes, different platforms.
Missing the point, more like it.Well said.

That's the great thing about PC gaming.
Try and ignore that all you like. And pay attention to the original context of the discussion as well.

PC gaming doesn't have that. You buy new PC hardware, you don't have to rebuy software and 90%+ of your library gets the 'HD' treatment.
Grim Fandango is being remade. That's different from a remaster/up-port.Okay fine then
Why is Oddworld: New and Tasty being released on the PC at all, then?
or Grim Fandango HD?
Regardless of the age, it is because the original version of the game was not created with the newest hardware in mind.
why does dota 2 exist when I can play dota 1 at 4k and 60 fps?
Because the original version of the game was not created with the assumption of where modern technology is at.
Looks like the ps3 version, also whats new besides the upped graphics? Because gameplay>graphics is something I learned from GAF.
Which is why I said 90%.That's cool and all. Unless of course, you sart running into driver compatibility issues, major OS changes etc. Conversely, many consoles offer(ed) BC. So it's not all "omg PC gaming offers so much more". Which is rather OT, anyway.
Which is why I said 90%.
And yes, PC gaming really does offer this, even if it makes you uncomfortable to acknowledge it.
Getting off-topic now. I corrected an inaccurate post and I don't feel like constantly defending that from people who don't like hearing about it.
Grim Fandango is being remade. That's different from a remaster/up-port.
DOTA 2 is also a ground-up, new title, with new mechanics and all new graphics.
I know you understand the difference, so please don't extend this argument further than it needs to be.

"If I buy a pc game I can play it on my pc"
That's your original point. Okay?
The original post you responded to was talking about the graphical upgrade is almost PC like. I don't believe he was saying that "buying tlou on ps4 is basically entering a pc-esque ecosystem"
PC is my preferred platform as well but I'm not here arguing that my chair is better than my couch, consoles in ruins.
Well, PS3's Cell processor does laugh at PS4's CPU.
I think it looks like it is intended to look. A PS3 game in 1080p/60 with improved AA, AF. But those screens have definitely been taken through photoshop with some sharpening.
I love TLOU and think It's a fantastic looking game but other then resolution and iq which is by default what you'd expect from a HD edition, I'm kinda disappointed because this is a full priced Remaster as its labelled and theres not much I can see thats Remastered.
Those shots could easily be the same press release bullshots for the PS3 version and it may look Iike the PS3's bullshots on PS4 but this maybe the most bare bones Remaster I've seen (don't jump on me it's just my current opinion )and we've had better HD Collections.
Now my opinion may change as I'm double dipping and I'll see the work They've done for myself, but going off what I've seen my statement holds true.
Yeah those screens have been sharpened alright. It's called 1080p vs 720p with proper AA. Will you guys just stop it already. Unless you have proof that these are downsampled please refrain from baseless accusations.
