Sometimes you just drop things.

??????????????????????????

That can't be real.

Sam Wilson is a lame, so I don't really care.

That said, I am surprised at how well everyone online is taking this. I guess people blew all their nerd rage on female Thor? Or do we just have to wait for the morning when everyone is awake for folk to really turn up?

I think it's because it's obvious to even the less comic knowing audience at this point that none of this is going to stick more than a year and it's just a publicity stunt.

Everything will be back to normal by the time Avengers 2 comes out - Disney doesn't like the status quo not applying when movie merchandise is shipping.

Look at what happened to Superior Spider-man.

Seems OK I guess. This means a similar thing will probably happen in the movie series right?

Hah! No.

Why does everyone keep saying this? Tony Stark is still Iron Man.

Actually I'd put good money that that isn't Tony. Given they've spent six months setting up that he has a long lost brother who is also a genius inventor who builds robot suits. They're clearly going for an "the established Avengers are gone!" arc, as part of Time Runs Out.

Isnt unlikely at all. There is a evil Iron Man 2020 named Arno Stark and he was part of a Story Arc short time ago. I didnt read it, but the theory isnt that unlikely.

Not like it'll stick because superhero changes never stick because in some alternate universe none of this actually happened so who cares anyway because comic books.

This is why I don't even bother reading them because I have no idea what is what anymore.

... i cant tell if youre joking or not

Why do you think this is a piblicity stunt?

Because it's clearly Marvel and Disney corporate policy at this point that you can do anything you like as long as the characters revert back to their normal selves within 18 months or prior to a movie release?

It's a publicity stunt because it's generated lots of publicity for something that isn't a permanent change, in exactly the same way as the death of Cap, unmasking of Spiderman and Marvel Now were.

You're in the wrong medium. Read something else.

Really? Damn...I guess all those comic books with clear non-endless stories I've read were just in my imagination? :D

serioulsy though, still shitty thing though. One that has to be accepted when you read superhero comics, but just because it's part of the genre doesn't mean it's not a crappy. Superhero comics simply have some truly dumb crap in their DNA that has to be ignored by us for the sake of publisher's profits. There are still comicbooks worth this sacrifice though.

Psylocke was originally a lesser, British, purple Jean Grey, and then she got flushed down a magic plot device that lets you start a new life somewhere else (the perfect thing for characters who aren't radical enough).

She landed unconscious in Japan, and was found by ninjas. A female ninja was dying, and they figured they could save her life by mind-swapping her with Psylocke against her will. The Japanese girl's body woke up with Psylocke's mind inside of it, so they brainwashed Psylocke into becoming one of them and attacking the XMen.

The XMen de-brainwashed her, and Psylocke became a slutty Japanese ninja XMan.

The British body with a confused Japanese girl's mind inside of it later woke up and tried to join the XMen, but then she died of mutie-AIDS before anything interesting could come of that.

What the fuck.
Who came up with that bullshit and when? I ask because I was still reading X-Men back when that change happened and I don't remember anything about a Japanese girl or body swapping.

Follow writers instead of characters. You'll be happier that way.

Except that even if I find one I love het likely will last a year, maybe two tops :( This month along two out of my three favorite superhero series lost their writers (Lemire for Green Arrow and Fraction for Hawkeye). :(

so spawn characters (angela) are now in the marvel universe?

when did this happen?

Neil Gaiman and Todd finally settled, Neil got Angela and Todd got Medieval Spawn, then Neil jumped to Marvel and part of his deal included him selling all of Angela to Marvel.

It would have been funnier if Todd claimed Angela over Medieval Spawn then we would have seen Medieval Spawn in Marvel instead. Lol

A quick Google says that Psylocke becoming a Japanese ninja was Chris Claremont's doing in 1989, but the exact details of the transformation were left unclear.

Fabien Nicieza filled in the backstory and brought her original British body back along with the Japanese ninja's mind in 1993, only to kill that combination off a few issues later and say "no tradebacks".

The only ones that ive seen talking about captain falcon are comics readers. Which would have been talking about it anyway. It hasnt generated a lot of publicity that im aware of.

Here is how it went down: the X-Men were almost dying, the purifiers were about to hit them hard (right when they just came back from Savage Land or something like that). They still had the M'Kraan Crystal, and the back then british Elizabeth realized that the only way to move forward is to take a leap of faith. So they convinced them (mind controlled? Do not remember) them to go through the portal to give a new chance to the team to live, as opposed to being slaughtered. So they all went to the portal, and it changed their lives. Some changes were small, but for Betsy, it was a totally different life.

The next chapters of X-Men were the team putting itself together.

Why not just keep him Falcon, I mean thats who he is, trying to put him in the Cap suit will force him to change his entire skillset due to the expectations coming with it. I am however glad they didnt stick Winter Soldier with this role again, guy needs to be his own man
Oh shit, his name could have been Captain Falcon

outfit is terrribad.

This Avengers Now inititative is very movie-centric. So I'll pass judgement on the characters for now and see what it brings to the, so far, okay movies.

Also Inferno is the new Woverine is pretty much confirmed...

Disney is not kidding when it comes to milking Marvel and flipping the bird to Sony/Fox.

I wonder what they are planning for Spidey post Spider-verse. I suppose there is no stopping this train and they are looking for ways to "manage" Spider-man until Sony concedes to "share" him. Which they will. Because if Ultron is anything as successful as Avengers 1, there is 0 chance Sony will make bigger bucks with their spiderverse rather than with a share of Avengers 3 and some phase 4 movies.

FOX is fucked and unless Tatum's Gambit is their new Wolverine, they won't have a Marvel movie 3 years from now.

Love that they are making some changes, unhappy that it's at the expense of their current stuff.

I REALLY hope that Unworthy Thor is amazing. Cause if they replaced the best running book at Marvel right now, to get out of creating a great NEW female character, I'll be pretty cheesed.

Falcon as Cap is fine for me, without diving too far into current Avengers spoilers, Steve and Tony do NOT have a great relationship, and haven't for a long time.

Falcon will refresh that. Plus Bucky gon Bucky, at least the best Cap will still be on the team ;)

Did they do something to Iron Man yet?

Wonder if the guy replacing him will be gay.

As above, they've spent six months setting up Tony having a brother.

He's disabled, and needs an iron lung to survive. I'd put reasonable money on that suit being him.

(He's been messing with Extremis, so I imagine that's why he'll be able to use that suit in some circumstance, though he might just be controlling it remotely - which he has done with Iron Men suits before, and Tony himself did for a year after he came back from the dead and was largely wheelchair bound).

This will last one year max. They're going to find a way to de-age Captain America to an even younger version of himself with some idiotic story and Falcon will likely be killed off and return mysteriously a year later. AKA: The Winter Soldier story arc all over again.

I dunno why people are so hyped over this. It's like being hyped over John Cena winning the WWE belt all over again.

Comic books. Never. Change.

It was the Reavers (which made no sense because they were a bunch of losers) and the Siege Perilous, but yes. Dazzler came out the other side pretty much unchanged. Rogue (who'd gone through months before the rest) came out completely unchanged except that Carol Danvers (who she'd basically absorbed) was separated from her. The rest, yeah...
How much later did that other stuff happen? I stopped reading a few months after Claremont left. (the first time)

EDIT: OK, I just went through Uncanny X-Men #255-258 and that body swapping thing is pure retcon. In #256 they talk about her still having the bionic eyes that she had implanted while she was in the Mojoverse after she looks Asian. No body swapping, just an altered body.

Was there a single shred of evidence that the phoenix was a force for causing mutations before cyclops claimed it though? Or was he truly playing with fire to save his race?

When Hope returned at the end of Second Coming and manifested the phoenix, she created five new mutants.
