I don't understand why people think the MP needs balance? . What exactly is broken? I don't find anything cheap? Some games I get my ass handed to me, other games I get +20 kills just using my assault or fusion rifle. . I just wonder if the people who don't like the MP just didn't take the time to get use to it? . Maybe got overwhelmed and frustrated?

I think it's pretty well balanced for a beta, but it still needs work.

  • Supers could be looked at to make sure people have a fair chance at dodging them and killing the person when they use it.
  • Auto Rifles can be tuned so that they don't overpower everything from close to mid range.
  • Hand Cannons and Pulse Rifles could use a buff.
  • The Interceptor could use some tweaking so that a player who is just spawning has a fighting chance. Very easy to accomplish this by putting a reload on the rockets or increasing the time between shots.
  • Spawns could use adjusting.
  • Blind Watch's cap zones need to be looked at because A is at a disadvantage at spawn. The high ground doesn't really matter when all the sightlines require you to go into a building or drop down.
  • The latency is bad. Really bad.
  • Matches often start 6vs4
  • I don't want to go to the Moon 3 times in a row, especially in Iron Banner.

I'm sure I missed a few things. There's definitely room for improvement, but it's entirely possible that some people are expecting it to be something that it's not. I love it for what it is and I want it to do that better.

Will anything you do in the beta carry over to the main game?

Playing after a certain time on the 26th will get you a special emblem in the full game.

Other than that, it's up in the air. It's possible, but I won't be getting my hopes up.

Has there been a discussion or mention by Bungie that some abilities will only be available during PvE? I can see into the future... and the rage that's gonna come when people die bc a Hunter is sitting invisible/crouched with a shotgun is gonna be legendary.

It will be over for this game real fast if they do that: See Halo 4

Disagree. It definitely has that Halo magic. Far more than Halo 4 in fact.

Its nothing like Halo. The closest thing in H4 now to real Halo is proving ground.

Or maybe they stepped into the Iron Banner with crap gear thinking this is just a game.

As I quote my new favorite announcer

"ha-HA, the crucible is not for the weak "

A lot of people expected Halo. Its not that. It is A LOT like Borderlands, skill trees, supers and everything. What people don't like are one hit kill supers, OP vehicles and the classes are totally are not on even ground at all. It makes MP a mess.

For those PS4 beta players...are there weapons that don't use ADS? Specifically is there a Halo style aiming mechanic for any weapons or upgrades etc?

Hand cannon is by far the best hip fire weapon(Really, the only thing it has going for it). You're better off hip firing than ADS overall for it, imo.

What locations did you look? . Did you get the one by the Iron banner vendor or the one upstairs in the locker in the strike against the spider robot?

I'm talking about the ones in the tower.

each area has one (i assume) but i cant find one in the hanger.. if it exists.
i found one in all other areas though.

and a weird button that turns a fan on.

Will anything you do in the beta carry over to the main game?

Probably not.
I wish it did. I want to keep my Sniper "loot" Rifle.
(Posting pic of my gun again because I love it sooooo much)

Even if you weren't expecting halo it's still a mess mechanic wise, the game was made to tailor to PVE first and PVP 2nd and it shows. Nothing wrong with that since that is there goal. People that think this is balanced are kidding themselves.

It will be fun talking about the PVP a month after launch when most, mainly the cod "were going to break this" crowd, really gets into it. The "this is balance" talk will be interesting then.

edit: and i'm not saying it's completely fucked, but it does need some tweaking

People Dodge and kill my Warlock during its super all the time, might as well blast myself in the face

My teams have no problem controlling or capturing flag A

Haven't experienced the 6 v 4 yet

Only one interceptor in retail, any super or turret can destroy it

Hand Canons... I feel like is a waste unless you get a headshot

Auto Rifles are fine, my proof? . I get killed by other weapons all the time by people with more skill than me

Bungie definitely got their hooks in me. My desire to play any game not named Destiny is effectively 0.

Though, one thing I think would make it better would be the ability to jump into one of the instanced raids from the free roam mode. For instance, place some red beacons at the start points for the various story and strike missions and let me hop into them organically instead of backing out and having to use a menu.

What's with the Warlock hate? Space magic > all

I think it's the part I bolded. Either it's not like COD and they couldn't/wouldn't adjust, or they don't really play FPS and Bungie not explaining a lot about the Control mod didn't help things.

I am relatively new to competitive FPS MP. I always have been a single player type of person. I've played and beaten the majority of shooters out there but every time I tried to hop online I'd get hammered and just give up.. The last few years I made an effort to just keep going. I always start off getting my ass kicked but when I learn the ins and outs I get better and better every match. There are a lot of good players out there these days and its easy to get overwhelmed online IMO. But when your able to tough it out and just practise and improve your skills its so much friggin fun. I bet a whole lot of people are turned off by getting their ass kicked over and over. Its frustrating. Some lack perseverance I guess.

I agree with you, it's Borderlands not Halo. The encounters, the mission structure, the skill trees are all right from Borderlands. Even the chests, loot and drops are the same almost. It's cooler, but it's a grinder just like BL. You basically will spend you time grinding for better weapons and then the enemies will rank up with you as you go to harder areas. The PvP was not the focus, this is not the next CoD when you have supers.

Game is definitely not Halo, and I'm happy for that because honestly after Halo 2 I lost interest in the series

Comparing the skill tree to Borderlands is kind of insulting
Its a lot more unique than that

Borderlands skill tree looks more like something out of the Burning crusade or wrath of the lich king, it's dated

A lot of them probably played solo, got teamed up with other randoms, and didn't go in with an established fire team.

Sorry for the off topic post but I can't find this anywhere else. Can juniors not make topics?

Nope.

No. You need 29 more posts to meet the baseline to become a member. Sometimes it takes a little while for it to trigger after you reach the goals needed to become a member.

How are they different? You rank up and choose a new skill in your tree. Its the same thing. I like the game but people have to be real here. Bungie didn't invent the wheel here. They took a safe formula and improved on it.

Supers make it more call of duty. They're essentially a killstreak.

I am too. Bungie took the Halo games in a different direction after Halo 2 and it's clear now that this is more in line with what they've wanted to create for a long time (not including that Halo battlefield stuff). I'd like to see it succeed, and for that to happen they need to iron out the issues before people are turned away.

It's not capturing A in Blind watch that's the problem. It's spawning at A and half way accross the map from both C and B when C and B are right next to each. It's not impossible to win from A's spawn, but it certainly puts you at a disadvantage.

As to your weapon comment: honestly, I did decently when I was using a hand cannon, but after finally getting an AR it's much better at everything. It has reasonable damage, high rate of fire, good accuracy/range, slightly worse hip fire. You give up almost nothing choosing one over the other guns. You can use other guns and still get kills however, as I said, I was getting by with a hand cannon. The other guns aren't useless they're just less versatile with little benefit given for that loss of versatility. Also, Psi rifles are practically pointless.

There are legitimate complaints about pvp to be made here.

Borderlands there are drops every second with kids hacking the game and duping all the legendary gear under the guise of 'we are just sharing "

Bungie said they want you to get a gun, level that gun and make it your gun.

Saying they take stuff from borders, when Borderlands borrowed heavily from mmo' s to begin with... Idk, Borderlands is fun but is always broken in the long run.

Where?

I've seen a broad range of criticism for this game (mostly relegated to PvP, as it should be), but never once have I seen someone accuse this game of having manufactured hype.

Is this forum 60% shill? What the actual fuck. The absolute rabid pro-Destiny shit being spewed non-stop is so obviously manufactured! The game really isn't that amazing, fuck me.

good work hoho your cheques in the mail.

More like this, just too lazy to find them.

I think my main class will be Titan. Hunter is classy but it's hard to aim with the throwing knife and golden gun in a heated situation. Too easy to waste those skills. The Warlock is cool, too, but feels like it dies too quickly. Also, I don't like the glide as much as I like the Titan's jetpack.

Titan is a no-nonsense, instant fun class. Just remember to keep a rocket launcher ready for long-distance enemies.

You don't spawn and hop on your sparrow?

What's the point of this type of response? Everything is perfect and the game should ship as is? It's not.

How are they different? You rank up and choose a new skill in your tree. Its the same thing. I like the game but people have to be real here. Bungie didn't invent the wheel here. They took a safe formula and improved on it.

Yeah, that's what a skilltree is. It's the contents of the tree, and how it's handled that differentiate them.

The loot isn't like Borderlands either.

In both of these regards, there's a lot less in Destiny. But it's much finer tuned skill trees and guns. If you find a Cydonia AR3, it's gonna be similar to all other Cydonia AR3s, but it could have a different ability that makes it more or less useful than another. Not quite the same with guns in Borderlands. There's a much wider range there, meaning the experience isn't the same.

So really, someone that likes that aspect of Borderlands may actually find Destiny a bit less interesting. Meanwhile it'll appeal to some more.

I approached Destiny as Destiny. Not as Halo. Not as Borderlands. Not as similar to those. But as something different. And it's resulted in me not having the same complaints as many people out there x.x

But yes, Destiny takes a lot of things from other games and concepts and refines them to fit its needs. That's nothing new in games. And it doesn't make it "the same". In fact, by definition, since it's changing, refining and improving, it makes it different.

Honestly, the best part about destiny is that you can get good guns in single player. Nothing like being a shitty player and going in with shitty guns. I may be bad, but at least I have a fun green auto rifle with hip shot upgrade, an awesome sight, and armor to complement it. Plus a class ability that rewards head shot kills with faster reloads. It all makes learning the maps and strategies fun, and not a chore.

The same way the old and new talent trees in WoW are identical right? :P Borderlands based their trees on Diablo 2 / old school WoW (rigid point based skilltree where you choose an initial path and follow branches), while Destiny is inspired by modern WoW / Diablo 3 (which give you access to every abilities and allow you to swap between them).

I'd like to see a bit more into the crafting and upgrading system for sure. I know beta is beta and we're going to be exposed to very selective pieces of content but progression seems really tied to gear and, at least in the beta, it can be quite frustrating to play 6 hours and end up not having much to show for it.

Other thought I have are:

- What's the difference between jumpships? Just looks?
- Any way of knowing how much experience you need for your next skill? I know you have the whole circle indicator but no real numbers.
- Could we have a notification that your party members are alive or dead? I know you get a system message when someone dies but it's easy to miss if you're in the middle of a fight with supers popping and you scoping up stuff.
