the max level is only 20? bungie why you're deflating my hype?

Not exactly. You can increase your overall level just not your character level.

Also, end game content or the best gear will take some time to get. Like for PvP you can only collect 100 marks a week. Well one piece of armor cost 140 marks. That's an example.

This would be nice. I don't like that the cursor snaps back to the middle of the screen after selecting a mission, or difficulty.

But the UI is so sleek and nice that its hard to mind this.

UI is sleek and nice now, but after many hours put into the game, its going to feel tedious.

I want both.

Yes the leveling and stats is just what I wanted. I am very surprised it's as deep as it is!

You do not just have an xp level but you have many sup skill levels and also weapons and armour that level!

Are you taking notes bioware? Gamers want more stats. Not less!

I tried logging on after work & was put in line.. I was 46663 in line lol bit different to BF4 usually 2 of 3 :)

I see your point, and i can see this happening. I wonder if they will update this kind of things after release.

Also... i hope the game doesn't load as much. From the Alpha to the Beta i think the loading time was reduced. But i still think the game loads a lot. Anyone else feel the same way? For example, to go to the tower you have to go to level select, go into level, select and then load. Instead of select between go to orbit OR go to tower directly. There is like 2 loading times in between too. No biggie.. just things that i know can get a little tiresome after a while.

Come on guys. Don't talk yourself into a false perception of content poverty.

Publishers are struggling to make their games worth 60$ today with all those preorder bonus shitloads, included DLCs and so on.

If you are unsure about the content just wait for some reviews or reports from fellow gaffers.

I like this, playing the long game is preferable to a short blast then it's past.

Looking forward to getting that one piece of delicious armor or a specific gun... just yes.

and all those skills? is only for looking? i'm pretty sure it's going to be tedious after 10 hours when you reach the lvl cap and will be playing the game 20+ hours with the same skills, the only variable being the upgraded gear.
and i don't really care for pvp, in fact, i think without it the game would've been better.

So you wanted the game to be something else entirely then? End game content ala diablo isn't unheard of man. Reaching level 20 will still take some time. And getting new gear/weapons plus leveling up skills is definitely worthwhile and will distract many as much as leveling up. And once you level up to max you make a new character. It isn't any different than many games. Expansions will probably raise the level cap and introduce new subclasses. Content will be made for the game.

Many games move on to pvp once they're done with leveling up. MMOs included.

Ugh. I don't have any free time until Monday, post beta. I might be able to squeeze an hour or two in, but what's that with a game like Destiny?!

I thought a two day wait was bad, but now it's looking like months before my next full fix.

At least I'll be buying the ps4 white bundle on release, there's that.

Damn you Bungie, I didn't ask for this.

Hold me, Gaf.

Why do we have to upgrade stuff manually? is there a reason you wouldnt want an upgrade?

As you get to a certain level, you can only have one upgrade in a path. So if it auto upgraded, you might switch to something you didn't want.

For example, maybe I have the Better Control upgrade for my jetpack, but I upgrade to Higher Lift, I would lose the Control until I went back and noticed that something had changed by itself.

Parish echoed my biggest complaint about the beta: I have no idea who or what anything is, nor can I even begin to fathom why I'm supposed to care about all this stuff. Yeah, OK, so there are aliens who took over all of Earth except that one city, and then there are other aliens from the moon. But how are they related? What's the history here?

And then you get to the hub city and it's even more vague. There are all these factions who offer to sell you stuff — who are they, exactly? A sentence of two of flavor text does not offer sufficient incentive for me to visit these shops again or join up in some extra alliance. This is supposed to be some kind of RPG, and it drives me crazy that I can't have conversations with anyone but shopkeepers. Bungie made their mark by integrating story into shooters, but outside of combat zones Destiny feels like a crippled, inadequate version of Mass Effect.

The non-shooting bits of the game — namely the NPC interaction, the narrative — need major work based on what I see in the beta. I want the game to be more than just visually engrossing. And it feels good as a shooter, but it's supposed to be more than that.

Oh i didnt know that. Cool.

I thought they just all unlocked on that screen over time. Good to know.

that white ps4 sounds badass. im in a situation where my launch ps4 acting crazy. spits out disks and beeps at me like it's mad as hell.

changed my per-order to digital just to make sure id be able to play.

considered sending in for repairs but worried i would miss the destiny launch. maybe after a few weeks or months of playing. gotta try and make the best of it and hope it holds on a bit longer.

The story will probably be the weakest aspect of the game I can already tell. I'm usually story driven but 90% of the time I'll be playing Co-op and in those my focus switches to skills and gear and leveling up.

But aren't you supposed to be dead at the start of the game? My guess is that the narrative is intentionally vague and gets explained the further you go.

Send it in as soon as the beta is over! Don't be crazy and risk it failing on launch!

You mad person!

Mine took 2 weeks to comeback to me, my advice would be to send it in after the beta has finished. Just imagine if your PS4 crumbled on the launch day and you see posts about how much fun everyone is having! :)

Eh, it's almost like... wait for it.... it's just a Beta with a very small portion of the total story content.

But aren't you supposed to be dead at the start of the game? My guess is that the narrative is intentionally vague and gets explained the further you go.

I suppose so, but what little bits of story meant to entice me in the beta just aren't. Not to mention the often awful dialog/voice acting Ghost spurts out from time to time, its hard to care about the larger world of this game or the context beyond "here's some aliens, shoot em with your guns".

Question. What in the world does the item on the bottom right do? It's like an arm band or something, but doesn't seem to do anything? I snapped a shot using the share button:

This is what I got from the limited narrative outlayed in the Beta... feels like a book that will unfold/make sense with time, naturally.

is wanting to level up alongside the content a la borderlands too much? i dont think it would change the game at all. if the game has as much content as it should, level 20 is too low, and the game is not an mmo, i wish it were, at least with more mmo features. and i don't want to pay more to have a decent leveling path.

I am opposite. So far story has many "bombs" to explode in the future. Traveler, Dark and as I can see now, there will be ability to go further from Solar system. Developers stated, that at first there will be nothing clear about anything, but more you go along story, more expansions come out, story will be brighter and questions will be answered.

Yep, it's am arm band. It's just cosmetic, at least the ones in the beta, every class has a cosmetic item, Warlocks got the short end of the stick :(

Why are people asking for grind?

It will become extremely tedious playing the same content over and over to level multiple classes, so having a low cap and swift journy to it is a very good thing.

Then all they need to do us keep endgame fresh with updates.

Gameplay rocks, story is straight basura

They put so much effort into the worlds and enemy types and then all of a sudden you hear "you protect the light you must fight the dark"

wtf

I really hope they're intentionally leaving out a lot of stuff in this beta.

Man, the only thing I don't like about the game is that it doesn't let me explore the world after I finish a mission. Let me explore...Unless this was done on purpose for the BETA.

Eh, they need to add big particle effect to it or hologram, so it was more visible, coz now it is not even cosmetic thing, it is just slot filler.

No. They added separate mode, that will give you ability to freely explore any place. As every story mission has special triggers and spawns, there is nothing to do after you finish mission.

i dont think the purpose of the beta/alpha was to provide anything in the way of detailed story. its a vertical slice of gameplay with a hint of how the story will be presented. also, i fully expect bungie to unravel the story slowly and only at its deepest level through puzzles, such as seen in the "destiny lore" thread.

I think you're putting too much importance in leveling up when for the game itself it isn't necessary to level up to unlock skills. Levels in this game work in the sense of allowing you to wear higher level armor and use higher level weapons and unlocking shit you couldn't do before like a different subclass or a new pvp mode. You're thinking of a traditional rpg mechanic like borderlands where leveling up lets you get a new skill while in here skills are independent of level.

Sorry to say so but yeah the game you want this to be is not what it is.
