Why??? You can't go inside the ships, you only get to be "that guy" that has wasted time to "look cool" while loading into a multiplayer game.

dead horse, yadda yadda. it still is, and always will be bullshit :) doesn't mean the game is any less fun, though! Bungie did great up until Activision started announcing poop "deals" like this one.

I mean, you guys got an entire exclusive series of games from them. What's with all the whining? Is it annoying that companies do this shit to make money? Yes. Is there anything you can do about it? No.
I remember being sad when Bungie left the Apple ecosystem as well, but then I grew up and stopped caring so much. If it's important enough to whine about online, maybe it's important enough to buy the platform that is getting these things first?
 
Even if you got a download code and downloaded the application, the servers are offline. All versions of the game use the same servers which are required to play.

I'm realizing that part of the reason we don't have save data across Microsoft and Sony is because of the exclusive content. It's a shame I can't load up my Guardian with PSN exclusive shit and then jump over to the Xbox One.

I've actually gone crazy and am reading the Bungie.net code. I like the little notes they leave in sometimes like this:

First spaceship you get at the start of the game looks like garbage, so everybody should have the fucking right to buy newer spaceships even if they're just fucking cosmetics or fucking ''loading screens''.
 
Could end up being that Bungie wanted to give us the beta a little earlier, but last minute someone from Activision caught it, called em up and told them to move it back.

what? alot of assumptions around here.

The BETA was always set to go live tomorrow. Codes showing dates before the actual release happened with the PS4 crowd too.

the only hope was that poster that was "told" by his friend that they were going to open it early.

'That poster' is Shinobi. Shinobi knows stuff and was also in the beta before it launched, so we have no reason to doubt him.

No, the different dates for the PS4 release were due to timezone. The codes went out at the same point in time for everyone, hence the different dates. But this time they're just fucking with us. O_o

I have always been hoping that they would add it in at some point. I mean it makes sense. Space/scifi shooter with no actual space gameplay? Either in an expansion or sequal. Makes perfect sense for expanding the IP and its gameplay.

I don't think anyone was basing their speculation of the beta being moved to today on the b.net code page text as much as they were basing on ppl with "inside knowledge" coming in here saying they heard it had been moved to today. The "typo" just added fuel to the fire.

Though mine still says the 22nd.

"You guys" is hiding and diminishing the issue that some Xbox users are having just a bit. I have both PS and Xbox, yet most of my friends play Xbox, so that is the console I will get Destiny on and spend most of my time playing on as well. That wouldn't be so bad if I had the option of buying the gated content, had the option to play cross platform, or even had the option to carry my character across consoles, but I don't. Instead I get to either pay the same price for less, or miss out on the bulk of the content entirely by "protesting with my wallet", which won't accomplish what I'm asking for in the first place.

Exclusive games is also besides the issue. This is not an exclusive game - it is multi platform. Aside from these "deals" and certain technical differences, the game is the same across each platform. The same. Halo is exclusive to Xbox because Microsoft owned Bungie during that time, and now own the property. That's not even close to the same thing. PS didn't "miss out" any more than Xbox "misses out" on the Last of Us or Zelda. The option was never there in the first place to buy it. A more apt comparison would be if Halo released on PS as well, for the same price as Xbox, and yet Xbox gets a bunch of extra stuff, exclusive maps, etc. for a year, with each release. "Timed exclusive" is marketing speak for "we're locking out half our users because X company told us to". It's just crap, imo.

What I can do is voice my displeasure, or opt out of buying the content altogether (something I won't do, because I still like the game itself immensely, just not the practice behind gating certain content arbitrarily like they are). I'll choose to voice displeasure. Whining sure, but there it is. Don't give people a reason to whine.

Well, technically, the time has been moved forwards by nine hours (according to javascript source), so if you're in the US most of your code pages will still say the 22nd.
 
Does anyone actually know what sort of time the Beta is back up tomorrow? I got my first invite into some EU DGAF games just as it went offline yesterday :/

Now craving some more of that item hoarding greatness!

And everyone is aware of that. You know what I mean. The whole point I was trying to make is that I can't carry my character over to my PS version of Destiny which has the content, but none of my friends to play with, from my Xbox version of Destiny that has the friends, but not the content. I have both platforms. The choice is more complex for some people than "just buy the platform Bungie's releasing the content on" (really it is more accurate to say "don't buy the platform that Bungie is delaying the content on, without a discount of some sort", but whatever).
 
Man I've waffled a lot in how to preorder the game.

Had the regular preordered on Amazon, then switched to the limited. Now cancelled that and preordered the digital guardian edition after seeing that it will preload and is $10 cheaper.

I don't collect so none of the extra stuff appealed to me, and I don't care about having a physical copy to resell as it will be way after release by the time I'm done playing the game and dlc and the value will have tanked too much to make reselling worthwhile anyway.

OK, but, "money." This isn't the first game to do this, either. Even on the Xbox side of things there will soon be Evolve with its money hat content and beta too. Look, all I'm saying is this shit has gone on forever, and its not looking to change any time soon unfortunately. You have a completely valid stance on it and I think you should definitely complain, but at least focus those complaints towards ears that matter.

And to be clear, this isn't a Bungie thing either. This is Activision. They do it with CoD and now they do it with Destiny. At least they're spreading the bullshit both ways.
 
So, when I use mr default spaceship, I get to see my fire team and other pvpers on the load screen.

When I switch to my custom skin ship, I only see myself.

Intended? Bug? Why can I not show off?

hmm doesnt do this to me. i have seen where my buddy changed his ship while in orbit, then in the next scene when flying in the clouds load screen, that persons ship would be invisible.
