I'm glad I'm not the only one who found the Beta gameplay to be bad. Don't get me wrong...the world is beautiful....but I would gladly give up detail for better mechanics/physics/story/voice acting, etc. First I want to know why there are only 3 classes. Their easily could have been 2 more to mix it up. They couldn't make a better create a character than the few preset options? I couldn't rotate my player to even see if her was long or short in the back(really this is the least of my worries). Next...I thought this was supposed to be a MMO. It's not. I also though this was supposed to be an RPG....seems to me once you open the other There are other people in the world, however there is a limit on the amount of players. And not only that...Im pretty sure there is a limit to the amount of people you can explore with. I enjoyed doing the missions at the time...but in retrospect...they were pretty shitty. Go to tower(loading). Go to orbit(Loading). It was a load fest from the very beginning. I hope that's just because it was the first set of 5 missions but if what we saw was a precursor of how missions are done and what is to come then I'd have to go out on a limb here and say Im not looking forward to it. Go here...listen to an un-animated ghost. Go there...kill a few guys. This has been done before hundreds of times. This game feels like Borderlands with a Halo suit on. Soon after I beat the missions and decided to give pvp a shot, I was at a level 5 with a few upgraded pieces of gear upon entering. I did not enjoy my time playing it. In fact...I turned it off completely after about ten matches and went to play Dark Souls on my 360. I found this to be the most horrible part of the game. After having realized that being 3 levels lower than the rest of the people playing(who were for the most part all level 8) that I was super underpowered. I would get one shot nearly every time. Even when I was firing first...my weapon seemed to do minimal damage. So between being jelly and trying to stay safe from the vehicles(most OP vehicles of any game in my opinion) I just couldn't get into it. Not only that...I found the pvp to be really slow. I started a Warlock class and the double jump/float is god awful. Running feels more like a power walk and Not only that...the amount of one-hit killers in the game is ridiculous too. If I wanna play one hit kills, I'd go play hardcore in CoD or better yet Golden Gun on Goldeneye for the 64. (Bungie has their own Golden Gun btw). Also, what's up with the lack of blood or oil coming from the machines? Shooting thing's doesn't cause some kind of reaction? Im not even a proprietor for blood in games. That said, Im sure there are a ton of fanboys for this game already and that's fine, but to me...Bungie seems like they just didn't want to let Halo go. Everything about Destiny screams Halo to me. The "Fallen"(might as well have been called the "flood"...still starts with an F) arrive in ships and jump off the platforms just like Halo. The sniper looks and feels like the snipers in the Halo franchise. The Guardians all feel like a wannabe Master Chief...especially when they put their helmets on. The Sparrow is a watered down ghost and your Ghost is a wannabe Cortana.
Look...I realize it's "Just the Beta". But let's be real. The game isn't going to change all that much. Truth is that the FPS genre just isn't what it used to be and sadly Destiny is not the future of the FPS. It's just another chapter In a book with all the same shit as the other FPS's out there. They're working on a few things they can tweak but mostly they're just making sure the network wont crash and the servers are operating correctly for launch day and leaving themselves a window for repair time. . What, because I get to change boots and gloves I'm supposed to be impressed. I will be picking this game because I love to play Coop....but...I feel it's only going to grab my attention for a few weeks or so. It reminds me of Titanfall in the fact that the hype has surpassed the final product. I feel like game developers and the producing companies need to stop the Pre-release hype and possibly cut down in advertising. They need to figure a way to keep the mystique. I think the biggest fault is that this game does not identify itself as new and fresh...it's being compared to Borderlands and Halo so much that it turns this into a comparison match. For this game to have been "Great"...It needs it's own personality...and the one we were shown is just another sci-fi shooter.
