I keep getting a party stabilization message while in orbit and have not been able to play anything other than the introductory mission. I tried creating a new character but I get disconnected from game world after intro movie. Are there any known fixes?

YES! It's some kind of game play mechanic, and I don't like it.

At first I thought it was the Xbox One dropping frames, but after careful inspection and bumping the input sensitivity WAY up, the game nerfs your turning speed while you dash/run.

Makes running and gunning less than fun. Like Bungie is the lifeguard blowing the whistle at you running by the pool because they think you'll fall and stub your toe or something.
Sprinting in just about every FPS acts the same way though. In CoD, you can't bring your weapon up nearly as fast as well.

Trust me. Convince yourself and your party to treat it like TDM and you'll find greater success. It'll definitely stop those ridiculous rushes towards well defended points.

This. Control IS TDM. It just has a multiplier for holding certain zones. Teams can win without even holding a zone.

I can play ThoseDeafMutes in Destiny? Awesome!

Yep, and you can sneak up on them and they won't hear you, nor can they yell at you when you do so! ;)

Well if you don't get the control points, you don't get the multipliers, so you gotta have both, right? I know what you mean though, most people think it's classic domination and ignore the fact that kills matter just as much.

Vendor had a Cydonia with 57 dmg. Upgrade ended up at 62. Very confusing after almost all my time on the beta spent on a Scout rifle. Here, I feel I'm wasting my shots, but damn, when they hit the pack, enemies are going down like crazy

I am fully on board for Destiny now. This Beta was exactly what I needed to be convinced on the game.

The PvP mode is a lot of fun, too. Even after hearing on here that it wasn't so good, I found myself enjoying it a lot.

After the Borderland comparisons, I personally couldn't get into Borderlands, but Destiny is exactly what I've wanted to have in a game.

Completely agree with you...I didnt think much of Destiny before playing it..but man did it change my mind. Day one for sure. I'm not sure about the online PVP mode though. Been having a mix bag on it.

My Warlock. I got that new long coat yesterday and i really like it!

So I found a shotgun with a Fully Automatic skill. Cool right? Well it was a pump action shotgun so it's actually completely awful (gameplay-wise you still just hold down to fire, but your character still does the pump animation and it's not fast at all, but extremely hard to aim).

Are there semiauto shotguns? Lots of these skills seem kinda out of place or meh. I feel sad when I get a Green and the swappable skills are just scopes.

That assualt rifle type thing that you Titans use, you know the one that melts players with 3 or 4 bullets? Yeah, that one. OP as fuck!

Do you mean the Fusion Rifle? It's not a Titan exclusive, but I guess a lot of people use it because it favors classes that stays in mid- to short range.

The rough equivalent of Halo's terminals. They're a cheevo/Grimoire thing that unlocks digital cards on Bungie.net with lore tidbits on them.

I really hope we get these cards in game for retail release. I don't want to have to go to Bungie.net to view them all. It's cumbersome and not at all fun.

Titanfall didn't do this. I was playing Titanfall while I waited for the Destiny beta to download, so when I fired up Destiny it was hyper noticeable.

Also noticeable...how much more I prefer Destiny's consistent 30 FPS over Titanfall's inconsistent 60 FPS with frame tears...

So do we have any good explanation about the Attack and Impact stats? I still don't understand how they affect the weapons and especially how they are balanced in PvP.

All I know is that a higher Impact stat will stagger a weaker enemy in PvE.

It's very pronounced in this game though. It stuck out to me the first time I played it.

I can't be against something that's clearly in place for a designed reason though. Especially not for the reason of this particular game not allowing me to play it like that other game.

Force him to get on and play.

Yeah. I don't know if its a bad thing or good thing. I'm sure I can go back to the run and gun method pretty easily though. It's coming to this which makes it feel sluggish. I also have my sensitivity way up.

So I found that Ghost, then the game disconnected. Do I need to go collected it? It was pretty well hidden and I don't get a prompt anymore in that area.

Nothing major in terms of content, but they did quite a few under-the-hood adjustments to the game's engine, most notably eradicating the judder issues. It plays much smoother now than it did initially.

since the update i've been playing for shit.
i think i played BF4 for so long that i played better with Destiny's little shudders.

The game would be absolutely ridiculous if you could turn full speed while sprinting.

*Titan runs by someone, whips around at mach 10 and does slam special*

Yeah.....no thanks.

Impact is the stagger effect you inflict on enemies. In PvE, its what buckles the enemy you're shooting and pushes him back. In PvP, its what throws the other player's aim and what not.

Having to go to Bungie.net (or pull up your mobile app) gives you something to do when you're not at home and you're jonesing for some Destiny though.

Titanfall doesn't do this because it's built to be a super fast paced twitch-esque shooter. The ability to turn at full speed compliments the Parkour style player movement.

Destiny is made to be more deliberate. Smaller FoV, less maneuverability when sprinting, middling TTK (between that of CoD and Halo TTK's) seems to point to a desire to make the player consider their tactical choices moreso than depend on quick reaction times while not quite going full-on crouch-while-you-walk/hug-the-walls-and-prefire-corners style tactical.

Just experienced my first freeze. Playing Destiny beta and while loading the Guardian's Tower (shortly after the into tutorial) it stuck at 70%. I waited few minutes, then tried to shut down my PS3 (super slim) but it stayed on with a blinking green light. Waited another 3-4 minutes and plugged it out from the wall socket.

Anyone encountered something like that? I'm kinda worried, because the console is only few months old (still under warranty tho) and its the first time it ever did something like that. :O

It is a design choice that works consistently with every player action in the game. Bungie said that they want to counter-balance everything with a penalty so that you should consider your abilities more. A few examples:

Run faster = turn slower
Jump higher = lose accuracy
Gain accuracy (ADS) = lose mobility
Change weapon = lose ammo

And so on...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who found the Beta gameplay to be bad. Don't get me wrong...the world is beautiful....but I would gladly give up detail for better mechanics/physics/story/voice acting, etc. First I want to know why there are only 3 classes. Their easily could have been 2 more to mix it up. They couldn't make a better create a character than the few preset options? I couldn't rotate my player to even see if her was long or short in the back(really this is the least of my worries). Next...I thought this was supposed to be a MMO. It's not. I also though this was supposed to be an RPG....seems to me once you open the other There are other people in the world, however there is a limit on the amount of players. And not only that...Im pretty sure there is a limit to the amount of people you can explore with. I enjoyed doing the missions at the time...but in retrospect...they were pretty shitty. Go to tower(loading). Go to orbit(Loading). It was a load fest from the very beginning. I hope that's just because it was the first set of 5 missions but if what we saw was a precursor of how missions are done and what is to come then I'd have to go out on a limb here and say Im not looking forward to it. Go here...listen to an un-animated ghost. Go there...kill a few guys. This has been done before hundreds of times. This game feels like Borderlands with a Halo suit on. Soon after I beat the missions and decided to give pvp a shot, I was at a level 5 with a few upgraded pieces of gear upon entering. I did not enjoy my time playing it. In fact...I turned it off completely after about ten matches and went to play Dark Souls on my 360. I found this to be the most horrible part of the game. After having realized that being 3 levels lower than the rest of the people playing(who were for the most part all level 8) that I was super underpowered. I would get one shot nearly every time. Even when I was firing first...my weapon seemed to do minimal damage. So between being jelly and trying to stay safe from the vehicles(most OP vehicles of any game in my opinion) I just couldn't get into it. Not only that...I found the pvp to be really slow. I started a Warlock class and the double jump/float is god awful. Running feels more like a power walk and Not only that...the amount of one-hit killers in the game is ridiculous too. If I wanna play one hit kills, I'd go play hardcore in CoD or better yet Golden Gun on Goldeneye for the 64. (Bungie has their own Golden Gun btw). Also, what's up with the lack of blood or oil coming from the machines? Shooting thing's doesn't cause some kind of reaction? Im not even a proprietor for blood in games. That said, Im sure there are a ton of fanboys for this game already and that's fine, but to me...Bungie seems like they just didn't want to let Halo go. Everything about Destiny screams Halo to me. The "Fallen"(might as well have been called the "flood"...still starts with an F) arrive in ships and jump off the platforms just like Halo. The sniper looks and feels like the snipers in the Halo franchise. The Guardians all feel like a wannabe Master Chief...especially when they put their helmets on. The Sparrow is a watered down ghost and your Ghost is a wannabe Cortana.

Look...I realize it's "Just the Beta". But let's be real. The game isn't going to change all that much. Truth is that the FPS genre just isn't what it used to be and sadly Destiny is not the future of the FPS. It's just another chapter In a book with all the same shit as the other FPS's out there. They're working on a few things they can tweak but mostly they're just making sure the network wont crash and the servers are operating correctly for launch day and leaving themselves a window for repair time. . What, because I get to change boots and gloves I'm supposed to be impressed. I will be picking this game because I love to play Coop....but...I feel it's only going to grab my attention for a few weeks or so. It reminds me of Titanfall in the fact that the hype has surpassed the final product. I feel like game developers and the producing companies need to stop the Pre-release hype and possibly cut down in advertising. They need to figure a way to keep the mystique. I think the biggest fault is that this game does not identify itself as new and fresh...it's being compared to Borderlands and Halo so much that it turns this into a comparison match. For this game to have been "Great"...It needs it's own personality...and the one we were shown is just another sci-fi shooter.

Great post dude.. I feel kinda the same even though I am enjoying the beta right now, but PVP pretty much blows, so I'm hoping that the rest of the game is handled a lot better and the content is way more robust than what is being shown in the first few levels.

Also on the MMO part you said. It's pretty limited right now but I think there will be a lot more shit to do when you have everything unlocked, it's kinda not fair to measure the MMO aspect with so much content locked out currently.

In the end we shall see what happens but my expectations are lowered and I think this game will have shorter legs than I anticipated initially.

Attack = Attack Rating overall. Damage basically.

Impact is the stagger effect you inflict on enemies. In PvE, its what buckles the enemy you're shooting and pushes him back. In PvP, its what throws the other player's aim and what not.

I think impact is damage per shot (and maybe what you said too). So usually there's a trade-off between fire rate and impact.

I mean... I really can't say it any other way.

Some games play differently. I like the fact that guys can't bust sprint U-Turns. You have to commit to your sprinting action in this - for better or worse.

In my opinion, impact definitely has something to do with actual damage dealt.
A low impact scout rifle feels completely useless and it's not just the stagger mechanic.

I think the accuracy on some of these auto rifles needs to be toned down. Feels like they are as accurate as Scout Rifles

And speaking of Scout Rifles, precision shots need to do more damage

It's not a deal breaker, just something I noticed and don't particularly care for.

Not like an ACTUAL deal breaker like the lack of facial hair for male characters... Seriously, why did Bungie break the game by not letting us have beards??

got a question re: CONTROL games. Most times when I play Control the guy on top of the score board at the end has the most kills but got the least amount of captures; and guys with the most captures end up somewhere in the middle. Shouldn't the game be rewarding more points towards captures instead of kills? Or is this common for this type of PVP game? Thanx GAF.

Looking at the descriptions of the other 5 game modes, I think it's a little underwhelming. Hard to say for sure right now, but from the looks of it, there really is only three game types, just with 3v3 or 6v6. Hope they flesh it out as the game continues to grow.

In The future .. There are no beards.. Don't you watch sci fi movies :p
