Of course this happens when Korra finally gets good.

It really is a shame that it took two seasons for them to realize why people enjoyed the original show so much.
I mean, I liked the first two seasons ok, but they were missing so much of the wonder that Last Airbender captured.
It turned off way too many fans.

Just looking at Netflix/Hulu now though, no TLA on there? What the hell are they thinking? All I can find is a bit of Korra on Hulu...

ATLA was on Netflix for a good number of years, but IIRC Netflix decided to let their contract with Nick's parent company expire last year because they wanted to focus on curating "exclusive content."

Hang tight, Korra fans. There is 1 new episode this Friday at 8, then the rest of the season will be available from various sites online. We'll let you know when we have more details. Thanks!

Well, hopefully it'll all go up at once rather than episode by episode. I'd be 100% down for straight-up marathoning it.

Oh, and Netflix plz.

Interesting. I've only had Netflix for a few months so not really up on the history of some of this stuff.

Saw this on the Korra page on Hulu, weird restrictions:
New episodes will be available 21 days after they air. We are able to make five episodes available at a time.

I feel really bad for the creators now.

same here. Honestly, after seeing the Netflix exclusive shows having their whole seasons uploaded at once, that's been my dream for all shows.

What we should be hoping for is that Book 4 is too far into production for any significant budget cutbacks. There's no way an online-only show can keep these production values.Same goes for Platinum's game, which will likely be just randomly stealth released unceremoniously, but at least that should be mostly done by now.

lol maybe nick should've fucking moved to digital these first couple of weeks eh
Color me intrigued.

I think they put all their shows on Amazon Prime for some ungodly reason.
Nick use to be big on Netflix then they sold out to that shit service.
Love Prime, will love if it somehow ends up on there.

I think more accurately, Netflix decided that super expensive deals that get them a ton of unwanted content just so they can get the stuff they actually want aren't worth it, and that's what they had with Viacom. Not even that they only want exclusive content, but they want to make deals with content producers directly rather than distribution middlemen.

Not that that's really all that much better, just more understandable.

The game was always going to be super low budget, regardless.

True, but this sounds like they're just giving up on the show entirely. Let's see what they have to say this weekend.

They never had faith in the series.
They killed good will with the movie.
Then they jerked everyone around on Korra season 1.
Then they gave it a shit budget for season 2.
Now they don't even know how to schedule season 3.

Nick is run by assclowns.

Makes sense. I was just regurgitating their PR.

Season 1 aired on Saturdays right? I honestly don't get it. Why the hell won't they put it there? Do they have some vendetta against Bryke? WTF are they doing.

WHAT.

I guess this means season 4 is canned right? Unless they plan on doing some crazy never been tried straight to online shit.

Nope.

Still need to see badass old Toph and Zuko's daughter doin some crazy firebendin.

I just heard about this through social stuffz
Who the hell is running Nickeloeon? And how are they so incompetent?

Watch, Korra's timeslot will be taken by more Spongebob repeats.

That lineup is fucking depressing.
Half their day is Spongebob with the rest being iCarly reruns and a little Fairly OddParents.
Ugh...

I really, really want to hold back on the "It was better when I was younger" rhetoric

But I watch TV like a kid anyway, and I'm either remembering wrong but Nick and CN really...REALLY suck ass now don't they?

Talk about bitching about online media killing TV, they couldn't be making it more easy for them. It's like someone pointing a gun to your head so you just slit your own throat, as if that will save you.

I don't even think they do "Night Vision" with older shows like Rocko's Modern Life and Aaah! Real Monsters here anymore. That used to be worth staying up til midnight for. Now I barely ever switch to Nick.

CN has gotten better. They at least diversify some. And their weekday blocks are filled with some really quality cartoons.
Nick, though. They've really gone down in flames. They don't really try to make any good new shows anymore. And they just show repeats of stuff that was popular half a decade ago.
It's sad.

Cartoon Network is a bit better. They have Adventure Time (not my thing but it's definitely better than a lot of stuff out there) and Steven Universe.

Excellent. Because what better time to do this than midway through the season, right? How else will you get to screw equally both the TV and online audiences?

What the fuck

I don't understand why this keeps happening with cartoon focused networks.

This is some Young Justice level bullshittery.

I honestly don't get it.

It makes me wonder if there isn't some shady accounting going on, where they want to be able to show they poured a bunch of money into a show's budget but don't actually want it to be successful.

Why even order the show if you're just going to screw it over?

The same people that run Cartoon Networks DC animated shows?
:(

Seems that way...
It's not just Korra they screwed over. It's Power Rangers too. Sure, the problems with the writing/acting/overuse of stock footage are all on Saban, but Nickelodeon forced them into 20 episode seasons and forces long summer hiatuses when only 8 or 9 episodes have aired.

Nickeloden is a fucking joke.

Nick is probably taking another step to moving more toward live action series like Sam and Cat or whatever. They will most likely fallback on Spongebob from here on out since that is what the network is known for, that and any of Butch Hartman's creations like Fairy Odd Parents.

Basically, it boils down to wanting cheap programing but not wanting to lose your entire watch base.
It really bit CN in the ass for a few years when they tried to become a reality show network and still do stuff like Toonami.
The reason why Korra got picked up was because the original series was gigantic for the network. But they didn't know how to put it in with all their really shitty shows and constant reruns.
So they put it out there with little fanfare and started just really screwing with everything.
It didn't help that they originally only ordered a handful of episodes and then fairly late in the game got approved for more.
So the first season was very oddly paced, which turned off a lot of people. And the second, while better, was still rough (because Nick gave them a shit budget).
So now that they have their footing with season 3, it's too late.
A lot can be blamed on poor management (like always). But some blame does have to go to the writers and directors that really didn't have focus in the first season.

So in other words, they cancelled it but they'll make it available outside of TV.

It's a better treatment than Young Justice and GL TAS got from CN, that's for sure...
