I really do think that the full roster will be announced prior to release (otherwise all four Fire Emblem characters wouldnt have been revealed yet). And since the 3DS version comes out in exactly seven weeks from today in Japan, Sakurai is going to have to burn through the following in a month:
Ness
Jigglypuff
Ice Climbers
Mr. Game & Watch
Falco
Ganondorf
Wario
Meta Knight
Wolf
R.O.B.
Shulk
Chorus Kids ()believe
We could very well get a veteran reveal per week from now on. There will probably be a random Direct in August with Shulk, and there might be another dedicated Smash Bros. Direct in early September for Chorus Kids and the last few veterans.
I meant to say that the August Direct would be a regular Nintendo Direct covering other games as well. Only the September one would be dedicated to Smash Bros.Would they really do two Smash Directs in such close proximity? I'd imagine they'd just do one direct in August revealing both Shulk and Chorus Kids as well as a couple vets (Wario and ROB pls) and then reveal the rest of the vets through PotDs. Otherwise, seven weeks isn't enough time to reveal that entire list.

Aye.He means not being revealed on the day we thought he would be.
Who the hell is Kellam.I feel the roster within this game is getting a bit excessive at times. I think Fire Emblem would have benefited from characters like Frederick and Kellam rather than Robin and Lucina. I also have a distaste for how Zelda and Zero Suit Samus are independent characters, it's messy.

If Fire Emblem Awakening were a movie he wouldn't have a named role.Who the hell is Kellam.

I actually would.Ahahaha I rather take Roy than the 2 of em, especially Kellam where he always goes unnoticeable. If Kellam is in, pretty sure people will forget that he's exist in the roster.

We haven't had an Iwata Direct since, what, February?

April had Directs for Smash, Tomodachi Life, and Mario Kart 8. Iwata only had a small role in the MK8 one and wasn't in the other two (unless you count his Mii appearance in the Tomodachi one, lol)I thought we had one in April
Or was that the Smash Direct?
Also what about the fact there is evidence to suggest the SSE was a canceled Kirby Wii prototype?
I mean, if it wasn't working as a Kirby game it doesn't work any better with Smash characters.

Robin and Lucina are two of Awakening's stars and among its more popular characters -- Kellam is not. Diversity and obscurity are not synonymous. Robin is incredibly unique, for example.I do not feel this is good reasoning. I think the roster could only benefit from increasingly diverse characters, Kellam's turtle style could have been quite unique. Lucina however will be overly similar to Marth.

I also want Anth0ny's full impressions after he wins the 3DS tourney. That's gotta be worth a bunch of posts.
I imagine it's for a lot of reasons. He's been sick, Nintendo isn't doing terribly well so it looks bad for him to be seen doing promotional videos, etc.
But April kind of broke the pattern of Directs, too. We had never had a game-specific Direct take the place of an International Iwata Direct but it happened that month. Two months after that was E3 and, if the pattern were to return, we'd get a "big" Direct in August.

Lucina is simply a bonus character. She's a clone. I hope you don't honestly think it was ever a matter of including Lucina versus a completely unique newcomer.Yet Frederick is, so I am glad you agree that he would be far more suited than Lucina.

Guys, no one would ever pick Kellam. It's a bad idea.
He'd only get selected via random.
no actually frederick and kellam would just be terrible ideas from likeIf you want the game to support a roster based simply on popularity, then maybe we should also have Tom Nook from Animal Crossing, the other 148 pokemon from gen 1 and the tennis raquet from Wii Sports?
As diverse as you want, you mustn't forget that Smash Bros mostly consist of memorable characters in its roster. Why would Sakurai use a slot to include a newcomer not only just a very minor side-character in the game but also involve in a running joke where people always forgot about him. Unless he's a returning side character in multiple game, then there might be possible.

10 of the 11 revealed newcomers have unique fighting styles. What's the issue here?So why not include more prominent characters with more unique fighting styles from other entries?
The Smash Brothers series is one which can make characters from nothing, see Captain Falcon.
Sure, Frederick and Kellam may not be the best examples, they were the first that came to mind. So why not include more prominent characters with more unique fighting styles from other entries?
I wouldn't say Captain Falcon was 'nothing' per se. Moveset-wise, sure, but from a stand-out point of view he was one of THE most iconic characters from F-Zero if not the leading man of the series. That's a far cry from someone most fans of the series seem to joke about not even existingThe Smash Brothers series is one which can make characters from nothing, see Captain Falcon.

If you're getting that info from the beta elements list on Smash Boards (because that's the only place I've seen that before), let me 100% guarantee you that's wrong.

I eagerly await your reasoning.

I am actually for Frederick if they make him accurate to the series' long history of jeigans and he slowly gets worse as the battles goes on.
I mean, he'd be a terrible joke character, but it would be accurate to the game.
