I feel like the problem is that you're viewing it as a "budding romance." Then again, I guess it's natural to misunderstand characters if you fast-forward through all of the scenes with them!

Yea, still not really caring about that, I do hope that Terror eventually gets around to making me care about, well, nearly anything Lisa does, but that hasn't happened yet and that isn't why I am watching.

Dirty Pair 9

They just blew up a planet with thousands if not millions of innocent people on it by accident. Oh Dirty Pair, when will your silly antics cease?

Great Teacher Onizuka - 1

Yo damn! Talk about a great first episode!

Onizuka is such a huge boss that he feels like some long lost Jojo character. Guy's got a freaking army on his side for crying out loud.

Then he just walks into a student's house with a sledgehammer to destroy the wall between the kid's parents despite the fact that her parents are threatening to call the cops while he's doing that AND the fact that this kid conspired with a gang of delinquents against him before.

I was a little iffy towards this episode's length at first, but now I see why it was this long. The pacing was amazing in this.

Ok! Kino time Woofington! Time for you to experience one of Anime's greatest!

Persona 4 Thegolden - 04

Average episode that had some weak scenes but overall it was mostly ok.

That's because ..well , hum ... i dunno !

At least the best secondary girl aika made an appearance so it's alright .

I'll finish Anastasia and at the least watch 2-3 episodes of it before heading to sleep. Will do episode thoughts as well. I'm glad you enjoyed the episode though, Onizuka gets even more boss and has even funnier situations/faces. You'll not be disappointed, especially with all of the heart the show has.

I should go back to GTO one of these days. A friend I trust said that it was the greatest thing of all time and the first episode felt long and burned me out on the show. Next time I need to go into it not expecting so much. Maybe after Monster. (When I get to Monster :P)

Ahahahaha. Amazing!

You want the show to make you care about her while skipping all of her scenes, LOL.

They would need to re-exist over here first.

They did a pretty good job re-existing to bring over Gundam Unicorn. Also the 2009 Akira BD.

Unless they were still open during those? Can't remember exactly when BV-USA closed, but it definitely was before Bandai Entertainment did, wasn't it?

Yea, a good couple of years, 2008 I think.

Yeah, it was around four years before Bandai Entertainment closed. I think what happened was that BV-USA no longer exists, but BV in Japan still occasionally releases things here in a limited way. Sort of like what Voyager's doing for Yamato.

Sailor Stars 187

Igarashi basebell ep that delivered and then some. Not entirely involved in the main plot thread at the moment so when it took a more serious turn, interest diminished.

Ojamajo Doremi 4

Felt like the first episode redux and lacked the heart of the previous two. Not a bad thing as this sort of setup was inevitable and best to get it out of the way early. Cut with the armor attacking the table looked super nice too.

Guardians of the Galaxy
That was certainly a refreshing departure from standard MCU fare. Theater was packed and laughed harder than at any comedy I'd been to this year as well. I do wish the first act was tighter and the character introductions were handled more elegantly but things sort of righted themselves later on. Hoping this does well so James Gunn can do his thing entirely in the sequel as the flashes of such in this one were the highlight, keeping the movie from ever growing too overwrought or full of itself.

Locodol 5
Surprisingly aside from the couple minutes prior to the opening, there was no idol activity. It was almost like a normal Slice of life show. There was a lot of background idea dumped. Also, the brutal murder of sweet-based tanukis.

Aria: The Natural 6

Athena is a mentor to Alice in a bit of a different way then Alicia is to Akari or Akira is to Aika. Alicia wants to fully encourage and embrace Akari's personality and positive outlook on life, while Akira serves to keep the fire under Aika lit and help her (and the others) to become the best undine she can be. Athena is a bit different. She needs to help Alice bloom more than anything. Not as an undine per se, but as a person. Guiding her and helping her grow up.

The point she raised about the mirror was a good one. Alice is introverted and intimidated by everybody else because they're intimidated by her, since she's such a high-touted prodigy. If she is welcoming toward those people, they will be welcoming of her in turn.

Kino's Journey 1

Well you've got my attention anime. I feel like the show will be like a less depressing Casshew's Sin. In fact to be completely honest a lot about the dialogue, conversations, situation and tone felt like it. But it ended up being a show that didn't need to resort to the look-out-a-rainy-window depression. There definitely was melancholy to it, but never overly so. My biggest disappointments with the show right now are two nitpicks that should disappear with more episodes down the line:

1. The constant wisdom quotes. Both in how they're delivered and how it needs to be told back to me in quote form. Feels like whoever wrote the show really enjoys how poetic they feel and reminds you about the line later on. Maybe there's an actual use for these quote transitions outside of the explanation of the character and the world.

2. When I read the synopsis and I got to the part about the talking bicycle I wasn't expecting that voice to come out of it. I was hoping for one of those deep manly sounding voice AI companions. There was nothing inherently wrong with the VA, it just stands out a bit as of right now since the other robot/machines had voices that fit their role better. His sounds like anime Winnie the Pooh.

I really do hope the show keeps the Gulliver's Travels meets Fallout vibe to it and explores a sci-fi setting alongside different societies and their shortcomings. As to the shortcoming of this episode's people, well no duh. For a city with genius scientists who came up with that technology they really didn't seem to have practical people who could spot the problem miles away.

Hype! Looking forward to it this Saturday. My friends and I want to go early saturday to avoid huge night crowds. Great to see stellar critical scores in RT and people reviews in GAF. Also looking forward to the comedy. Did Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper do a good VA job? It felt so weird to have their two biggest star powers behind CG characters.

Diesel was fine, Cooper's VA work felt off at the beginning but smoothed out once Rocket's character gained some depth beyond one-note snark.

Probably of interest to some folks. The Hulu app for android now allows non subscribers to Plus to access the free hulu content thats on the website (or a portion thereof). They do lock the Chromecast function behind the paywall....which is weird as the OS level screen mirroring to Chromecast still works.

Of course you still have to deal with the shitty Hulu presentation. Still this brings a not too difficult free option for shows like Barakamon without resorting to fansubs for folks outside the US and want english subs.

1. I remember the show having a few wisdom quotes here and there, but I don't think it got out of hand.

2. I was distracted by Hermes at first too. He grows on you as the show goes on.

As for your expectations, you're mostly correct. The show is all about Kino travelling to different countries and learning about how the people function in them and how their society works. I wouldn't really call it sci-fi, but there are some elements like that in some episodes I guess.

Added to the infinite list of homages which Gundam Build Fighters pays to the franchise in general and G Gundam in particular.

Did that ever get a BluRay?
Yep. Amazon Prime price isn't bad either (like 10 bucks).

Good to know since Rocket's choice for VA was a bit weird, but the trailers made it seem like they definitely wanted to make clear he wasn't comic relief.

Kino's Journey 2

Hoo doggy that was a doozy. I'm sure my comparisons to Casshew's Sin won't go on forever, but this episode. This episode. It was brilliant. Similar to my favorite episode in CS, only once again to a lesser degree of gut-punch in presentation and tone.

I don't want to overly praise the writing before going further in the show, but so far the presentation of the different people she's come across has been brilliant. The way the episode
gets you to like the three guys down on their luck, have them sit down and have dinner/joke with the protagonist like regular friendly minor characters would, give their back story, their personalities and lives only for them to turn around and present to you a situation where they're actually slave/human meat traders and attempt to kill their own savior was crushing
. They also gave plenty of hints which I caught on to. But man the final scene felt out of a classic post-apocalyptic story.

Kudos episode.

watching the first episode to end my night :)

Good man. I knew I liked you for a reason.

About Terror in Resonance, I don't think that there is any romance between Twelve and Lisa.

Both Twelve and Nine were obviously affected by the loss of Five. However, the way they cope with it is different. I see Twelve seeking out Lisa as part of his mentality and how he tries to "replace" (it fits his slightly childish and optimistic/wistful persona) Five in order for him to stop living in the past.

Lisa on the other hand comes across perhaps even more straight forward. "it's really been a long time since I laughed like this". Whatever her circumstances were that pushed her to isolate herself, Twelve and Nine provide a way (in her eyes) to once again be free from the thoughts that plagued her constantly (family and school are at least two things that obviously made her both depressed and suffer from panic attacks; how they interrelate is not clear yet).

Yes, it is not an entirely new concept, but that goes for the terror duos interactions with the police and Shibasaki as well. I'm well and beyond caring for originality as the prime driver for quality and as long as the execution is as good as it has been so far, I can enjoy it.

That is, for Lisas part. I'm clearly an anomaly it seems here, as I find her part easily the best so far, and the "game" part quite boring (never been a fan of police dramas and crime/heist stories). The trios intersection hasn't gotten as far as the other parts of the story yet, but I see far more potential in it, and it reflects the core of many of Watanabes greatest past works. From Macross Plus to Samurai Champloo, the characters make the story.

Terror in Resonance - 4

Is it possible to only be watching a single series this season and be 100% sure that it's undisputedly the best thing airing? That's more or less what was solidifed for me in this one. The final act in this episode is probably one of the best I've ever seen in a show and the combination of the way this week's riddle played out (and all of its implications for how the rest of the series will progress) and the scenes with Sphinx 2 picking up the girl blew me away

And goddamn is the soundtrack awesome.

I just finished Eureka seven and now I want more.

How is AO and the movie?

GEDig44.gif

Also, on an unrelated note after watching Hercules and Anastasia again I have to say that these movies largely depend on their music and visuals to be as enjoyable as they are. Where two attractive people fall in love with each other for little reasons outside of being together. The plot is little besides a way to step towards the next song and scene, which are amazing. Still love the films obviously, but Frozen was a step in the right direction of breaking away from tradition by
not having the first attractive guy she meets be who she ends up with

Locodol 5

(Nanako spent a tender moment with Yukari and Yui)

This was kind of a forgettable episode. I definitely took those idol events for granted, because I never realized how dull this anime could get without them. Still relaxing and enjoyable, but there was nothing to stimulate me, you know?

Well...Almost nothing.
