What exactly is the protocol for cops when citizens are openly carrying a gun in an open-carry state? Do cops have full authority to detain a citizen they feel is acting threateningly with his firearm and determine if the gun is legal? What are the expectations of engaging with an open-carry citizen? I think the supposed danger of black people open carrying and it being purely left up to police judgement is a scary proposition.

Nope, graduated from a T1 in 2013. Took one of the more difficult bar exams in the country. Primarily been doing work for Guardian ad Litems, so it isn't like I am some callous in-house biglaw who only cares about corporate rights.

What difference would it make? Shooting at cops, no matter if they're in the wrong or not, will always end terribly for you, most likely dead or life in jail.

depends. in GA when you open carry the cops can't even ask you if the gun is legal etc.

It's also a stupid fucking argument. "derp, whut if the cops who shot him were black?" Um..and? One of the cops who gunned down Sean Bell was black and i am sure the "Black cop & White cop and why it's almost never a good combo to have to deal with" has been brought up by now.

Not necessarily, if they do a no knock bust in you are allowed to shoot them and it should count as self defense.

I was literally in Walmart this morning, seeing how those BB guns were black. Even though it has a colored tip, it's too small to see. If anyone was roaming the street with one they coulda gotten killed just by the appearance of it. That's crazy

Cops were not charged and kid was only 13. I expect the cops to get off without charges in this as well.

It happened in the past with the Black Panthers. The problem is, it's probably (understandably) difficult to find volunteers to do what you are saying for fear of death or incarceration over such a stunt.
 
In the UK the use of replica guns is taken very seriously. Toy guns HAVE to look like toys, which at the most basic end means the nozel has to bright orange or it has to look like a crazy sci-fi gu or something.

You think that if you shoot one of the multiple cops entering your house with a no knock warrant that you're making it out of that situation alive. I mean shit even if you were white you're almost certainly ending up dead there.
 
The police killing innocent people has gone really out of hand. Wtf? Especially that blacks are getting discriminated against. And about that pic in the OP do people really shop and carry guns openly? Ridiculous if true.

Didn't think about it but according to my brother I always speak more softly and in a higher pitch when I speak to white people. I do that to, all of it. When I was kid, I had issues with looking at white adults in the eyes. Things obviously have changed, but I'm still not myself.

It's weird feeling like you have to protect yourself from someone that's non threatening, just because of their skin color, fears of being viewed as a criminal. I mean, I have one speeding ticket while going only 10mph over the speed limit and I'm 38 yrs old. Been placed in the back of a squad car for about an hour, because the lights over the rear license plate did not work.

Are you suggesting he should've shot back at the police, if he had a real gun? Or that people should shot at police, assuming they're going to shoot first?

Because that doesn't really solve anything.
 
They didn't ask him to put the gun down. Removed from service, fired and jailed for decades, though it doesn't bring him back. Atrocious, who even let these people become cops?
