I was at the gym when I saw the news on a TV screen that he died. Fuck. I was literally dumbfounded with the news. Took me a while to actually believe it... :'(

Learning that he battled severe depression is scary. He was seemingly one of the happiest people that I knew about in Hollywood.

RIP.

That's the thing about depression. It just eats at you inside, until you feel like you have nothing left. I had an uncle that committed suicide and we had no clue he was suffering depression.

Probably super late for these.
Oh wow, those are so touching. Hits me right in the childhood

Oh god no!

Someone mentioned this in a thread on the gaming side and I started to panic hoping that it wasn't true as I searched his name on google... was saddened at the first result that popped up. RIP Robin Williams. You are the definition of a legend!

I feel so bad for Zelda right now :(

Really, really truly sad. He was one of my dad's favorite entertainers when I was growing up, so we watched the hell out of pretty much anything he was in... Grew up watching and loving him.
I thought for sure he'd still be keeping us laughing when he was 90 or something.

RIP Robin.

This is so sad; first Rik Mayall and now Robin Williams. These guys lived their lives making people laugh and smile, and, as far as I'm concerned, that's an invaluable gift. I'll miss them both.

I got through some tough times because of some of his movies over the years and the fact that he couldn't find the same solace he gave to so many of us is absolutely heartbreaking

I usually don't get affected by celebrity deaths, but this is a shock even for me. He was a great actor, and my favorite performance of his was in Good Will Hunting.

RIP

This is one of the few legitimately upsetting celebrity deaths I've ever experienced. I've grown up watching so much of his comedy that it truly feels like I've lost a friend.

Just got home and I see this. Still trying to wrap my head around this.

RIP

You portrayed my favorite character in any Disney film. Goodbye, Robin Williams.

This just came to mind.

"Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed, life is harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in threatening world. Doctor says, "Treatment is simple. The great clown Pagliacci is in town. Go see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears."But doctor" He says, "I am Pagliacci.""

RIP.

Saw this earlier. Just as I wanted to head to bed. Heh. Terrible news, obviously.

Farewell, old man. You gave me so many good memories of myself watching your movies together with my sister (who also passed away, not so long ago). So many laughs, so many tears. You were a great person in life and I hope you go somewhere better now.

Also, added my favourite scene from The Fisher King here. It's a quote from the character R. William plays in it.

It begins with the king as a boy, having to spend the night alone in the forest to prove his courage so he can become king. Now while he is spending the night alone he's visited by a sacred vision. Out of the fire appears the Holy Grail, symbol of God's divine grace. And a voice said to the boy, "You shall be keeper of the grail so that it may heal the hearts of men." But the boy was blinded by greater visions of a life filled with power and glory and beauty. And in this state of radical amazement he felt for a brief moment not like a boy, but invincible, like God, so he reached into the fire to take the grail, and the grail vanished, leaving him with his hand in the fire to be terribly wounded. Now as this boy grew older, his wound grew deeper. Until one day, life for him lost its reason. He had no faith in any man, not even himself. He couldn't love or feel loved. He was sick with experience. He began to die. One day a fool wandered into the castle and found the king alone. And being a fool, he was simple minded, he didn't see a king. He only saw a man alone and in pain. And he asked the king, "What ails you friend?" The king replied, "I'm thirsty. I need some water to cool my throat". So the fool took a cup from beside his bed, filled it with water and handed it to the king. As the king began to drink, he realized his wound was healed. He looked in his hands and there was the holy grail, that which he sought all of his life. And he turned to the fool and said with amazement, "How can you find that which my brightest and bravest could not?" And the fool replied, "I don't know. I only knew that you were thirsty." It's very beautiful, isn't it?

Here's also a link to the scene on youtube.

Well, some people close to him obviously had to know that his health and condition were deteriorating. Maybe the IGN dude, being a super fan, had heard some gossip that he was in bad shape and posted that.

Not too scary.....right?
