Microsoft Gamescom teaser - August 12 Xbox briefing

MS/Sony giving devs money to make games that otherwise wouldn't happen - like Sunset Overdrive etc - that is fine.

MS/Sony giving publishers money to prevent games coming to competing platforms - is anti-competitive, anti-consumer bullshit.

It sounded like they actually helped out in development. Sure, it would probably come out at some point, but maybe Definitive Edition didn't deliver like SquareEnix needed it to to do the game they wanted.

I hate it when I can't play these games when it's one I want (like ScreamRide) but I actually prefer it when a company does this compared to exclusive DLC or bullshit like that. At least one console gets the game so we know it will be the complete version.

It's so incredibly dumb.

Square Enix: "TOMB RAIDER DID NOT MAKE OUR SALES EXPECTATIONS"

"WE SHOULD MAKE THE NEXT GAME EXCLUSIVE TO ONE CONSOLE"

The Gaming Industry.

Well... Microsoft couldn't make their own Uncharted so they bought one. It makes a kinda weird fucked up sense.

QB looks great as expected, just hope the gameplay has a bit more variety. I was harsh on Fable Legends after playing it recently, but glad the beta is almost here, will suit me to give it more attention. Screamride looks pretty cool.

Phil Harrison must be really good at his job. I mean, he has like ZERO carisma, and still both Sony and MS put him front and center in their conferences.

Mindblowing.

I dunno, given Microsoft's weird trend of randomly throwing Xbone exclusive titles on PC a few months later with no fanfare, it's possible that Rise of the Tomb Raider might get the same treatment.

Bizarre decision by Square, but equally as perplexed by Microsoft in this. It must have cost a fair amount of money, do they really seen TR as a massive system seller?

Yes and sony deals to have long timed exclusives for Destiny is just gravy, right?

Let the PS bias run through you...

Timed exclusive content isnt nearly as bad as what Microsoft is doing with TR.

Also remember the MS COD deal is much bigger than the Destiny PS deal

Don't get me wrong. If Capcom came out and made Dragon's Dogma 2 an XBOX exclusive, I'd be super fucking butthurt for a while.

But I'd also just bite the bullet and buy an X1.

It sucks but this is how it has been for a while now sadly.

I have to agree. Sunset Overdrive and Bayonetta 2 are way different than giving money to gloat "we have this game only on our platform, nah nah nah nah!". It is very anti-consumer practices for developers to agree to things like this. Although SE has become more EA as of late, so I am not that surprised.

Here's the deal:

TR Rising (XB One): 900p, 30fps - 2015
TR Rising: Definite Edition (XB One, PS4, PC): 1080p, 60fps - 2016

Just not yet announced. :)
I agree with you, added more details though!

When a first party gets involved, it radically changes the goals for a given game. Maybe Tomb Raider needed that to justify a sequel?

Dude... you don't really believe this do you?

if Sony do it, it is bullshit too. I'm an equal opportunity cynic.

I don't care if DLC/60 extra exclusive minute nonsense is exclusive - that isn't the core experience and doensn't directly affect me too much.

MS must be paying them a lot of dough so they probably dont care as much.

That's probably it. Microsoft needs games like this in order to try and close that gap. If it's truly exclusive, I'll be happy to play it on Xbox One, loved the first one. Though the possibility of no PC version is crazy. Maybe they'll do the "next summer" PC release like they're doing with the launch games right now.
