Growing up, I loved harry potter well the first 3 movies. Young me had a hard time following the movies because I had a hard time understanding British accent. None the less, i still became interested in the series and really liked it but que the 4th? movie ..where the british really started to bother me. As the actors aged, their British became more apparent/ more confusing to me D: ..maybe their acting got worse or something <.> but I digress, the jokes, dialogs became more and more unfunny and confusing all because the actors started using heavy british accents and such. thats when I started falling out with the movies all together. =/

maybe if Harry potter was american, i would of liked it/understood it

( btw I do love british shows like game of thrones, etc )

I blame the acting

Huh... British accents are that hard to understand? I never had a single problem understanding the films, and I was never around Brits growing up.

Also Game of Thrones isn't british.

I prefer that it's British, actually. I can only imagine how hilarious an American-based Harry Potter would be.

There is no such thing as a British accent for a start. Second, its a British creation, so no. Make your own wizard story.

No, American doesn't sound right to me in fantastical media, which is why Once Upon a Time can sound really cheesy. Watch with subtitles if you don't understand it.

The problem with this is like...the book takes place in Great Britain so it wouldn't make sense if he was American, don't you think?

Have you not read the books before?

I think Once Upon a Time has bigger issues than an American cast somehow. Man, I had high hopes for that show but couldn't stomach it past the first few episodes of the second season. I don't even know how I made it through the first.

I think it's alright, much preferred Once Upon a Time in Wonderland though.

I didn't care for the movies, but I loved that aspect in the books. America isn't novel to me as an American. It's nice being taken to another place in fiction.

I googled this and got a bunch of images of black dudes. They I saw the urban dictionary definition. :/

I remember Conan joking about the accents in the first movie.
They took a scene from the train station and made everyone's speech incomprehensible.

Lols, those are the most watered down British accents I've ever heard in a film. Hell, Dumbledore 2 sounds almost North American.

I wish he spoke in a vernacular and with a certain fondness for nasally staccato that at times his speech might only decipherable to my ears and mine alone. Like a small gift from god signed with my name in shimmering gold ink.

This has to be a troll, right guys?

Anyways, Op may have to wait 10-20 years but there will be a remake eventually and that may as well be set in the US.

It's tough to know who's going to turn out to be capable actors when you're casting for a decade of movies at 10 years old.

They did get lucky with Emma Watson though.
