Same deal if the Wii U version comes to Japan first. Hopefully the fact that the Wii U is a bomb in Japan means a used Wii U would have bomba pricing ; _ ;

Well, pokemon stuff is handled by a different company, but published under nintendo, so it's really gamefreak/TPC's decision, would be my guess. They were willing to do the work to make it global. Sakurai/NamcoBandai may not have been willing to make the extra effort/delay the japanese one to make it global. Who knows?

Where did you get that from and how much did it cost to you? Because I'm thinking about bitting, I have some $ I was planning to use towards an XB1 but that shit got nothing on playing Smash before any of my pretty inferior NA friends, including some of my less fortunate SmashGAFmates

Indeed, that picture is most memorable picture during Brawl hype. I would imagine that Sakurai and the team are trying to cramming everything into the game before the deadline so I would imagine that they really need to give translation team more time to translating those last-minutes contents. That's only thing that I could make sense out of it.

Ebay. I found an OG 3ds (not XL) for like $110 used that looked like it was in pristine condition. Also cobalt blue, which hasn't been available in the US (outside of FE:A bundle?), which was kinda neat, too. I plan on using it primarily for smash, but I also got MH4 to play on it (20 bucks on amazon... vs 60 bucks on eshop, lol) which already arrived.

It'll be interesting to see if the WiiU version will have such a gap as well.

It'd be funny if the US got it first (but it won't). I don't mind the Wii U one having the gap, since I'll have the 3DS one to tide me over. But getting the 3DS one 3 weeks early for about 160 or so is totally worth it to me, not to mention I now get access to other japanese eshop games I couldn't normally get, like picross 2, or club nintendo picross, etc.

The thread wasn't meant to be "new news," it really was about Sakurai's wording and how it's a reflection of the hostile atmosphere in gaming these days. But seeing how it ballooned, I thought, "Well, better here than OT," ha.

Title isn't clickbait, either. It is "skimpy," in the literal sense that it shows more skin. That part is necessary for the second part of the title, which is the point of reflection on our industry being jumpy.

The Wii U version might come to America first.

Japan doesn't have a winter season equivalent to Black Friday, we obviously do. The game pretty much has to come out before Nov. 25th here, it can come out after there.

That is true the 3DS version will definitely make the wait for WiiU Smash easier.
Plus as you said having access now to the Japanese eShop is definitely a added bonus for you as well as just importing anything in the future.

I imported Xenoblade back when it had it's PAL launch. Though thankfully Wiis were easy to make region free.

It is to me! I can't stay off the internet, and i'd like to discover SOME things on my own, so not being 100% spoiled it worth it. That, and i've kinda always wanted a japanese system. They get monster hunters WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY earlier than we do (I'll be playing MH4 6+ months before a US release of MH4U), some picross titles, and a handful of other titles that require no japanese knowledge to play. It also lets me get cool japanese-exclusive streetpass puzzles via cheatpassing.

Smash is what pushed me over the edge to actually do it. I had an extra 100 bucks as a birthday present and decided to treat myself. It also means I get another copy of smash to play w/ in my household (assuming they don't region lock multiplayer... like some games!)

Man that's a steal. I thought it it'd be no less than $300, and I'd definitely be willing to pay that, if I can find a deal half as good as yours, I'll be there day one.

best of luck. Anth0ny is the reason why I did it, since he showed off his white USED 3DS which was also in pristine condition. Once I learned that japanese used 3DSes might as well be new, I bit the bullet.

If I had as much hope and excitement for this game as I did for Brawl back then, and if the version I'm more excited for was coming first, I'd do it too.
