Xenoblade announced for New 3DS

While reading OP, was thinking of how annoyed I was that I may have to buy a new 3DS.

Then I saw the screens and laughed a bit to myself. I'll stick to playing it on Dolphin.

I'm not gonna buy a new 3DS just for one game, fuck that. If there are more "new 3DS exclusive" games coming maybe but for one ugly ass Xenoblade port? Nope. As awesome as the game might be.
A bit bummed out about the whole "new 3DS" thing. It feels like a half step. Not really gonna profit from buying the new one but being punished for having bought the old one.

I'd much rather have a Wii U remaster/enhanced port. I don't like playing exceedingly big games on a handheld, never cared for MH3 for that very same reason.

This is such a weird move. I'll buy it if there are enough exclusive games to this system, but man the number of different SKUs for the 3DS is getting out of hand.

Exclusive to the New 3DS only due to its increased CPU.

HAHAHHA

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHA

HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

This is an easy title to show people how much more powerful the new hardware is. Nintendo's plan is to extend the 3DS generation for a few more years without a huge leap in hardware. So this is basically the first showcase title for 3DS 2.0.

I shouldn't have to buy a whole new 3ds to play a 3ds game.

New hardware? You mean a revision of old hardware? Oh boy I guess now I should just throw out my old 3ds xl because now it's worthless and the successor is here right?

Granted, it's hardly arriving with as much pomp and circumstance as a new platform reveal usually is... but it seems something akin to that. Maybe close to a mobile phone generational leap. This is the next generation of 3DS hardware. I can't think of another intragenerational console hardware update that was this drastic.

Love Xenoblade. Day one for me.

This situation with the New 3DS is pretty much just a DSi/GBC, right? Most games will continue to support the old ones.

Interesting that it's exclusive to the new machine. That'll force the hand of many enthusiasts.

Jesus. Bioshock iOS has been redeemed.

Yes, let's judge games based on low quality screenshots of a video stream of a game early in development.

I hope the New 3DS has a bigger screen. Xenoblade is not a game I would want to play on 3.5 inches, the characters would be like 3 pixels big in some areas.

I'm so fucking happy the Zelda 3DSXL I bought was damaged and I had to return it.

New 3DS XL is mine with this announcement.

Thanks for splintering the audience Nintendo. This is why i hate buying Nintendo portables. Always going to be a new version until the system's life is over.

I bought an OG 3ds for 70 bucks used a while back to enjoy Bravely Default

Mostly because I didnt want to drop lots of cash on crap hardware

This new one solves a majority of the issued I have had with the original!

Thanks Nintendo for finally meeting up halfway

._.

Fuck off with this nonsense

It's what I think too, including all the new buttons and all.

So it runs like dogshit on your increased CPU? Yeah, that'll convince me to run out and drop the cash on a new 3DS.

The New 3DS screen is 1.2 times larger than the regular 3DS screen, the New 3DS LL screen is the same size as the regular 3DS LL screen.

I'm guessing Xenoblade won't be the only Wii port that plays exclusively on the *new* 3DS.

Also, *new* 3DS XL and the current one look extremely similar , this might get confusing to the mass market.

Wonder if the new 3DS games will catch on or if it will be like the DSi with only a handful of games availabe exclusively for it.

I also wonder if this will start becoming more common with smaller upgrades available more frequently akin to cell phones....I'm sure we will still get a generational leap at some point but I wonde if we will see these types of upgrades in between.

Wait, new 3DS? Do you mean a 3DS with second circle pad?!

Well original 3ds owners are getting screwed over big time.

I'm an original 3DS owner. I don't feel screwed. I can certainly understand that feeling if Nintendo stops developing for the thing three years into its life cycle, but I don't think they're there yet. They've announced one *New* exclusive game. If Xenoblade needed to be compromised as much as it appears to to be released on their *New* model, I shudder to think what it would look like on my old one. I highly doubt they're done making games that run on the older model, but this one, I think, was out of reach.

Wait, new 3DS? Do you mean a 3DS with second circle pad?!

Yup. And an adaptable 3D affect that tracks the viewers eyes to line up the image, even when not viewing the screen head on. Pretty neat stuff.

I stuck about 15 hours into Xenoblade when it first came out, but it didn't grip me.Voice acting was awful and the story seemed a bit rubbish. However I'm very aware that everyone seems to think it's the second coming of RPGs.

Any advice for getting back into it? I've tried to pick it up again a few times but I can't remember what I was supposed to be doing, and just got annoyed with it. I believe I last left it at the beginning of the second town, or just before. In some mine or something.

In regards to the 3DS port- it doesn't look pretty. Surely they'd be better off dropping some new hardware that can run Wii games?

Well, it's a good thing I guess that I want to buy a new 3DS... But it's ridiculous. Why the hell would they release exclusive games to it? :(
