Are you saying it's not like Borderlands because the drop rates are different? Seriously? Not at all
Borderlands the drop rate is better for weapons, but 80% of the weapons are crap
Couple in the fact that the "dupe & share" community ruins it to the point that everyone has the best shields and weapon or stats are hacked and everyone is in God mode, nah it will be nothing like that.
I hate the Borderlands comparison, when that game borrows heavily from say.... Diablo
All the two have in common is guns/fps
I find this YouTube channel to be a good way to familiarize yourself with the game: http://m.youtube.com/user/DattoDoesDestiny
It's FPS Diablo.
It has a button you can press to dance.
There should be a button to disable your avatar.
@topic
Destiny is not the open world shooter MMO that I hoped for![]()
Or a button that makes my avatar dance!
Bungie talked pretty openly about how borderlands was an influence. They just want to make it better by making the whole game more connected by letting you randomly run into other players etc.Not at all

We are absolutely doing things that would be familiar if youve played any kind of open-world game, creative lead Joe Staten told us. I mean Far Cry, even. We would be idiots if we didnt look at an awesome game like Borderlands and ask, What are they doing well and how can we try to hit that same ball? I have never played a game where I have such a great attachment to my gun as I do in Borderlands.
Gesundheit.A CO-OP FPSMMORPG.
Just browsing through some videos now and DAT ARC BLADE RAZORS EDGE OH GAWD.I find this YouTube channel to be a good way to familiarize yourself with the game: http://m.youtube.com/user/DattoDoesDestiny
It's an MMO
It's not a mmo.
An FPS that seems to want you to be social but really doesn't.
It's Borderlands made by the developers of Halo.
And she is a beautiful child. So Borderlands, Halo, PSO, and Mass Effect have a baby. They name her Destiny. Fin
guns/fps . . . plus primary focus on co-op, rpg leveling system that applies to both you and your enemies, skill trees, numbers bleeding from enemies, a unique special ability for each of the characters, loot drops and loot chests (may nut be as frequent, but it's still there), a shield and armor health system, large open areas that are not quite open world mixed with cramped claustrophobic corridors, a sci-fi setting, weapons that deal elemental damage . . .Not at all

I didn't really 'get' it either. Beta bored me to tears, but I suspect that I too may have been doing something wrong. Or perhaps it's just one of those games you can't play alone.
Only seen videos, but one thing that stuck out to me is all the menu navigation being done with a free floating cursor you move around with the analog stick..? Do I have that right? Just

Can you not move the cursor and snap to each icon/selection with the dpad? It looks like it makes all the menu navigation painfully slow. In a loot game like this where you're probably going to be in a menu as much as anything else (and a game without a pause button I'm assuming), managing inventory and skills, it needs to be as snappy as possible.
It works really well. Best UI since the last of us.
