I plan on going to Big Wow Comic Fest next year.

Missed it this year and has been on my radar ever since.
So I had a minor accident where I sliced the part of my palm that meets the base of my thumb. To keep myself from reopening the wound, I couldn't bend it much and wasn't able to take pics of what I've been reading. Now that I'm 98% healed, I'm gonna try and catch up.

Rocket Raccoon #2
This was my book of the month for August. Skottie Young continues to tell an entertaining story coupled with his fantastic art. Here we have Rocket falsely accused of murder and is now imprisoned. With a little help from his old pal from Planet X, Rocket devises a plan to escape the prison. The humor's on point and I get excited as I thumb from page to page (so much eye candy!). One of the things I like about Skottie's action sequences is his use of sound effects (and literal spelling of the sound effect). When Groot sprouts up from the ground, we see the word "RUMBLE" emblazoned on that entire panel, giving you a good sense of what's happening as well as spelling it out quite obviously.

Original Sin #7
Marvel has been blurring the face of the person on the cover of #7. So I figured I would do the same to avoid any potential spoilers. So, uh, all the good guys are in space fighting
. We also learn more of the encounter between Uatu and The Orb. There wasn't much of a plot progression (in the grand scheme of things) as this issue focused more on action. I do find it strange that some of the powerhouses in Original Sin are being manhandled like they don't mean shit. Like
taking down Iron Man AND Thor!? C'mon son. Though I will admit it is kind of fun to watch.
I have Marvel digital codes for both Rocket Raccoon #2 and Original Sin #7. First person to reply requesting either code (or both), gets my PM.
