Sailor Moon episode 1 (new Viz dub)

Usagi is Usagi. Not Serena. Everybody sounds good. Naru doesn't have a New York accent anymore, Umino sounds like...Umino. I guess they're stick with the "guardian" translation of senshi.

So where is Psycho-Pass 2's PV?

It's due to air in a month and we haven't even seen a single shot other than some basic key visuals.

We got this ages ago

but that's about it

Didn't we run into that with the first season too or am I thinking of another show?

I thought we had gotten some animation prior to launch but checking back we didn't. So I guess this is par for the course.

Going in expecting shitty animation again.

Sailor Moon Crystal 5

Really enjoying the break neck pace and toned down humor of this adaptation though I imagine I'm in the minority on that lol. Jupiter also has two attacks in this version :O all in all pretty enjoyable.

Btw has anyone played/read any of Jiro Ishii's stuff? My only experience with his writing was with Canaan which left a somewhat bad taste in my mouth. What do other people in general think of his stuff?

Edit: LOL turns out he didn't even write Canaan, that was Okada. Oh man, I really need to do a list of shows that I dislike and see how Okada matches up. Question still stands though.

SAO II 10

God this give me headache, what a heavy combo that I got between this and Aldnoah.. I still need to watch Captain Earth too, help me..

Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibto 10

The evil mastermind Gargantua has created a masterful trap for poor Lilith so that he can interrogate her for Eve's location. Surely this sinister device will get him the information he requires! What more horrific torture is there to be strung up by your arms and legs to then be attacked by feather dusters!

The scenes transition from Gargantua being sexually assaulted by a horny fox woman to a bunch of young girls showering in what looks like prison cells in space. These girls' spaces suits also have cat ear like appendages on them because why not. Lilith and Hazuki both appear on the ship to disrupt the peace and also have some intimate girl to girl love.

By the end of the episode it is revealed that these young children's parents have been "immobilized" and the children continue to talk to their parents. In actuality their parents are
rotting corpses
and the ship's computer has synthesized their voices to respond to the children. This show got gruesome fast and I feel a bit disgusted by this concept.

The direction continues to be outrageous with camera shots of exposed pantsu areas on women but not without some cheap blurring effect! There is also a repeat of the same lame gag in a 2 minute time frame with reused animation. I like how whenever the narrator makes an appearance he makes it sound like the narrative is supposed to make sense.

As Pokemon once taught me, Light years is a measurement of distance not time!

Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibto 11

The ship has malfunctioned and the outside hull is in need of repairs. Cue space cat girl to go outside to make the repairs. Somehow while exchanging modules and she severs her life line by closing a door and starts to drift into space. You'd think closing a door wouldn't be able to cut a cord that thick or that she would be smart enough to keep the cord that is her only way back to the ship away from sharp objects that could cut it. She is saved by her would be fiance and they vow to get married as soon as they get back on the ship. As cat girl is leaving the ship for the new planet the crew wishes to inhabit she says her last goodbye to her mother. I still find it creepy that she is talking to
a rotten corpse
and doesn't realize that she is
dead
.

Cut back to Gargantua and his pervert henchmen with horny fox girl in Japanese space garden. We get the same animation as the gag from the previous episode yet it hasn't made it any funnier with its reuse. Hazuki and Lilith arrive at the space garden. It is here that Gargantua, Hazuki and Lilith encounter Eve/Jill/Hatsumi.

Soooo is it making sense yet? It shouldnt be!
It never does!
Also pancakes are magic.
My name is Quile.

Sailor Moon Crystal 05

It's Makoto.

And even if the episode is quite different than in Classic, she still manages to show off her strength. Some funny bits at the start of the episode, and Tuxedo Mask already knows that
Usagi is Sailor Moon
as well then.

The art appears to have been improved.
Perhaps it will turn out good after all.

Patema Inverted

Cool premise, but what a disappointment of a film. Everything is run off the mill as if the director went through a generic checklist of anime cliches: generic hero, generic damsel in distress, generic love story, generic villain without any motivation doing evil things. Also the world is never fully explained,
the inverted people have a land above and under the ground?

3/10 only because the concept is cool. Meh movie that I won't recommend to anyone.

I definitely would like to see this movie.

PA Works is thinking about TariTari sequel
And BDBOX coming this December

Would love to see more Tari Tari. More Sawa especially!

Ano Natsu de Matteru OVA

What a good OVA. A new OP and ED was created just for this using both Ray and Yanagi Nagi. It's basically an episode you wanted to see even though it doesn't provide much more of a closure to the series. Also, more Kanna -- and she does an armbar!

There is a great big space between the end of the main story and the epilogue (ie: how the couple get reunited), is that pretty much the ground it covers? or not even that?

SAO II 10

Episode of uselessness, reiterating information, and explosions. Meh.

Let's have a bunch of faceless kids in a circle mocking her for dramatic effect.

Good fucking god. Are Japanese kids that fucked up?

With some of the bully horror stories I've heard, I wouldn't be surprised. Not inherently the Japanese kid part, just the environment and all that.

SAO S2 E10

I'm going to be honest here, I have no problem with the whole melt that Sinon experienced this episode. Some people may cry about her character turning into a weak female to make Kirito look strong by comparison and blah blah blah and while yes that does happen, I'm gonna drop a truthfact on you

Sinon has ALWAYS been an emotionally unstable and weak character and this would have been true regardless of her gender.

Sinon suffering from PTSD as a result of her killing someone at the age of 11 makes total sense. Sinon's tough exterior was always hiding a emotionally unstable person who has been running from a very traumatic incident in her childhood. Her melt down was coming and it was only a matter of what and when it was going to be set off.

What doesn't work, is this retcon that Kirito killed more people in SAO during the Laughing Coffin raid we never saw until now. Sinon was living a normal life until it was shattered in an instant when as an 11 year old she had to kill someone to save herself and others, something that could cause emotional instability in anyone especially at a young age, puberty is hard enough without the PTSD that incident with give her. Kirito however according to this new scene has been experienced in SAO for awhile, and has volunteered to go stop the members of laughing coffin who have been murdering other innocent players knowing full well he may have to kill some of them.

You COULD have made the idea of Kirito also suffering from PTSD work if he had killed evil players left and right during SAO ala judge, jury, and executioner, making the game safe for the trapped victims, and have him realize the brutality of what he did, especially if they had death gun killing "evil" players in GGO

Heck you could have just made it "I killed a dude in SAO" being the crazy psycho guy who tried to kill him in S1, I know in the LN Asuna killed him but the anime team could have made this work as an excuse for Kirito's guilt over having killed someone. Or don't have him be so shaky about it, have him give some kind of speech where he admits he also killed someone to protect the person he cares about, and learning about accepting the past and growing form it or some lesson to help Sinon begin to accept and move on from her depression.

I honestly feel like I did back during the early parts of S1, in that their are some really good ideas and potential for a story that could be very interesting and good. The problem is the level of sophistication needed was clearly not something SAO's author could manage, so instead even his somewhat good ideas turn into scenes that make gary stu Kirito look like a boss or "oh look at his flaws he's just like you and me" scenes that make most people roll their eyes.

So after someone I know randomly linked to a Youtube playlist of it on Facebook, I watched the first few episodes of Jungle King Tar-chan. That is some 90's-ass anime, bruh.

Rail Wars 10

The story with
crossdressing
royalty is pretty boilerplate for a genre like this, but the show pulled it off as it does, and I once again found myself enjoying it. I wonder if this has anything to do with watching it much later than other anime, but the time of day is immaterial to the show's material being nerdy and slightly fanservicey in a way that I feel mostly works. Especially since this episode featured a lot more of Haruka, which is something I've been wanting for some time.

I liked it too, though really it was the brief Aoi/Naoto bits were the highlights.

G Gundam - 15

I'd normally call this a
cop-out
, but considering
I wasn't impressed with these Shuffle Alliance newcomers, I'm happy Iwagama went this route.

Now the REAL team is formed =D
