What separates the Alpha series from normal SF? I only played them casually.
air blocking and fast teching were introduced in alpha. guard gauge originates from a3, too iirc

you can air block FBS and other air normals, but grounded normals are insanely strong and can convert to huge damage off ccs

My XBL Gold has expired and I'm saying farewell to it this time, we had a good 7 years XBL. Now I guess I can only play Ultra on Steam and have my laptop fans go crazy every time I boot the game.

Me too, but I think they (and the modern market) have backed themselves into a corner where this is impossible. Imagine a game shipping without the entire ST cast there and ready looking same as always.
Make it a time travel premise. Problem solved plus u can have young / old variants of each character doubling the roster p4a2 style.

Looks like one person and not the group doing from the video you found.

yeah, one of the members kept Ricky from joining the women of the fgc group. kinda bum move but oh well!

I should get some of that dhalsim curry.

I've never had curry, but all my asian and trinidadian/Guyanan friends swear by it.

Curry is pretty god like but this is coming from another trini dude.

Alpha is similar to regular SF. But the game has air blocking, but you can still be anti aired out of them like in ASW games. No EX moves in this, but super bar goes up to 3 levels. You can choose to spend however many bars you want. Game also has Alpha Counters (and were pretty damn strong in original Alpha 2 and could kill).

Alpha 2 introduced Custom Combos. It forced your character to walk forward though and is very different from the CC stuff we see today in fighters.

Alpha 3 is very different and pretty much was the game where most of the anime fighter mechanics originated. Air teching options are just like ASW games, and early air teching meant you were vulnerable. I can't remember the exact specifics, but you actually can't air block right away after air teching.

By pressing a button while blocking, you can reduce the depletion of your guard bar. Pressing a button while getting hit also reduced damage when timed. Game also had -isms which were different playstyles you could choose. You can play a style that's closer to SF2 (strong supers but no air block), regular Alpha, and one that was more focused on Custom Combos.

V-ism was mainly chosen because of custom combos. It granted high damage, unblockables, and lead into tech traps which were essentially infinites.

I'll have access to the Smash 3DS Japan release on Friday, so if the game's not completely broken into within 24 hrs; I should have some substantial impressions on it.

I don't know if I should get Destiny. I played Borderlands and it's one of my favorite games. People have compared the two but Destiny just looks bland to me while a huge reason I liked Borderlands was the charm and humour they put into it.

Might as well just wait for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel!. So soon.

Eh, Borderlands had more interesting gameplay. The classes in Destiny are all pretty simple. For a FPS player, they are a big deal, but I was unimpressed.

You are wealthy, so why not give it a try anyway?

Thank you!

I will be sad if this is Ono's project, though.

Explains and adds to what Bronson was saying about SuperYan after Cross Assault...interesting

well that was a long time ago, and i think everyone has moved on and grown from it (except kuchera)

alas

When the group was made I said I didn't think Ricky (or any guys) should be in the group; I thought it'd completely defeat the purpose of an all women's group (but it's not my group, it was Melanie's, so ultimately it's her decision). This was 8 months ago before I knew Ricky was even considering transitioning so obviously I feel like shit for that now, but Ricky is my friend and I already told him about all this anyway.

EDIT:

On a lighter note

I have Destiny on PS4, put in a couple of hours into it.

It's similar to Borderlands but yea it doesn't have the charm/humor. It has superior visuals and presentation though that's for sure. The moment to moment to combat is also solid.

Nothing much to say about depth or theory craft in this game, I am only two hours in. Borderlands didn't have much in the way of theory craft either. I would say this game probably has even less theory craft than Warframe.

It wouldn't , a game like A3 wouldn't even make it past Capcpom quality control these days- it was so glitchy and buggy.

Weird note: Sirlin wanted to remake A2 instead of ST because he felt A2 had more potential as a remake (and IMO he was right)

Street Fighter needs something fresh that isn't an update. Honestly, anything goes so long as it isn't Darkstalkers.

not that I'd want a dimps made versus game. someone call niitsuma already

Funny you should say that when everyone is complaining about DR3 lol.

Smash 3DS' graphics look surprisingly nice.

Tried Destiny for about an hour or so today. Played competitive multiplayer and watched someone else play the campaign. Game left, like, zero impression on me.

Also got to see Ground Zeroes, finally. This gen is very underwhelming in terms of graphics so far.

Multi-plat, cross-gen blah blah I know.

I really wish this demo would download faster. And that Pit was in it. But still delighted and surprised that its out.

Ground Zeroes is probably the best MGS game made from a mechanics point of view. The visuals are also a big step up from MGS4. If the game can retain that quality for the entire length of the game then it will be my GOTY.

And yea Smash looks good for a handheld. I wonder how the impressions will pan out.

what's a ken combo

man now i'm actually really bummed that HDR got made instead of A2R

i think the 'flaws' in a2 are more objective/'obvious' so they're more easily 'corrected' than whatever decisions were made about ST's design

Why didn't I know there was an easy way to gif youtube videos until now

This makes some things easier

Images are sped up though, but the gist is still there

I think it would be nice to have it done. I think the alpha sprites are still aesthetically pleasing, maybe they could have cleaned them up instead of redrawing all of them like in HDR.

Edit: Oops I meant to quote Alstein, but eh, this works.
