MGS 1 - 4 + PW on PS4/XBONE/PC

I want to believe but I just can't bring myself to believe that... because...

I'm sure this will be catastrophically disappointing, so I'm going to stop thinking about it right now.

:'(

This.

Actually, the fact that it's seemingly something due 2014 would probably mean it isn't a game related thing (Too late in the year for it, seeing how much Kojima loves his long build ups to game releases). Merchandise would seem most likely.

I totally believe that some kind of Metal Gear collection will hit Steam sooner or later, and I'll snatch that shit up when it does, but I don't think this is anything.

Question can MGS4 be on other platforms? They'd certainly have to edit some things and what not if it went multiplat lol.

If they had any sense they recorded alternate lines way back during the original dubbing sessions. But ultimately I don't think it really matters. The Playstation references are brief and they'd only have to remove any logos.

There is the blu ray reference (would be weird for digital/steam release version but can be overlooked), the references to the cell processor, and other stuff like the fact that they might need to either relicense the ingame official apple ipod or just remove it altogether, depending on how that license worked. that's not counting the work to alter the controller for non-PS platforms and other stuff that i'm not remembering now.

It's doable, but it's more work than just porting the game and getting it to 1080p/60 fps.

I only just started Metal Gear Solid 3 last week. Announce the Steam version so I can start over please, along with all the others!!

I completely forgot about that. I would say it would make sense, but they did originally approve it before cancelling, and I'd assume they would have known before hand of any remake on their end. Could be wrong though, and that would be very pleasant a surprise!

if Konami ended up buying it and then releasing it as part of this, that would be so rad.

Whatever that screen refers to, another collection is inevitable and predictable. And another one after that. Personally I'm very pissed off at Konami right now, they're overdoing it with MGS.

Assuming the animations aren't tied to frame rate, a PC/current-gen port could be the first time MGS3 and 4 are at 60 FPS.
MGS4 at a locked 60fps & native 1080p would be great. Also, I believe the HD collection games were all just 720p so we could get a resolution bump to 1080p on all of them even though they already ran at 60 frames.

Not really, MGS4 has never been on any platform except ps3, tons of people have missed it, even if the only new addition to the collection was MGS4 it would be a worthwhile decision cause it allows a greater number of people to get caught up before MGSV comes out. Makes plenty of sense and is a smart decision to gear up people who have missed out (PC, Xbox) Definitely not worth getting pissed over, you don't have to buy it.

MGS1 has also never made it to an Xbox, I know a few people who enjoy MGS but have only played whats in the HD collection.

OH man, the full collection on PC would totally convince me to finish my journey through the series.

MGS4 PC!

Skipped the legacy collection. Will buy for PS4 to double dip the trophies. Getting mgs2 and mgs4 platinum again makes me want to cry though.

I was 360 last gen and PS4 this gen, so missed out on MGS4 and the ability to play MGS1 again for the first time in a decade

Make it so Kojima!

Simple solution is don't buy them, no?

Obvious answer. Don't worry, I'm not going to until they release one single, complete collection of high value after MGSV like Square Enix did with FF and its 25th anniversary.
I'll wait 2017, they'll do something for the 30th anniversary. Hopefully something serious.

A collection for every addition is smart for Konami, not for us. As I said, I'm waiting for one, single, complete and well packaged collection. As a fan, it's the treatment I expect for such a historic franchise.
All these collections seem to have a very poor value to me. They can be good for the new players (more or less, there's always something missing..) but that's true for every collection or remaster done so far of games that are not even close to the importance of MGS.
MGS should be treated better, what I see is Konamy trying to suck everything out from it (and the fans) at every possible chance.

Expand your expectations! With an arbitrary frame rate and resolution, I'd imagine even MGS4 would be fairly easy to run at 4K.

Guys, what if it's a full-fledged remake....of all the games, and to be released on Xbone, PS4 and PC?

I think I'd die right then and there.

I'd love to play a MSG4 where you don't have to install every chapter before you can play them.

What were they thinking?

All MGS games remade with MGS5 quality graphics?

Why do people keep thinking this?

The absolute best fantasy-land scenario would be ONE game (probably MGS1) with new, current-gen art assets placed on top of the original MGS1 engine like 343 did with Halo Anniversary. And even then 343 has had to do it one game at a time.
