Quick question:

If I pick up an encrypted blue item and save it until I level up 5 levels before I decrypt it. Will it be at the level I picked it up or at the level I am currently? Has anyone tried this?

i want to grind the hell out of the lvl 22 weekly strike. so hard, but worth it (exotics and strange coins). PM me if you want to run it on xbone.

Even Strike matchmaking kind of stinks because you can't talk to your teammates unless they accept an invite to your fireteam, which you have to initiate manually. And you can't actually manage your team or anything so if someone joins your team and then putzes about in the open world zone and doesn't even come into the Strike area you can't actually do anything about it such as booting them or talking to them.

I believe the level you are at currently. Someone a few pages ago was saying it's best to wait until level 20 to decrypt your items, for this reason.

Just fire rate and impact. Things will carry over in the Iron Banner.
Where are you getting only fire rate and impact from? Range definitely carries over (was practically sniping with a high range auto rifle yesterday), so I would assume the rest does as well.
As far as I can tell, the only thing that is normalized is damage (both output and input).

Oh wow. I noticed their shields were different colored. I didn't even think of that. I like that.

This is interesting. This means you may need to prep gear and weaponry depending on boss.

So which elements trump what? Also, what does Void damage do? I have a void machine gun that rips through players in PvP. I think void does more damage than anything else in the game, but don't quote me on that. I figure electric is good for knocking out shields, and fire is good for putting dots on enemies.

The colors match the elemental attunements so use each weapon accordingly.

Purple Shields are weak to Void
Blue Shields are weak to Arc
Yellow Shields are weak to Solar

All elemental attunements work well in PvP

Match shield colour to damage type.

Void is purple
Ark is blue
Etc

Edit: Beaten like a drunken bum

So what does the companion app actually do? Is it useful for gameplay or is it more something-to-mess-around-with-at-work-while-you-can't-play?

A little from Column A…

The Grimoire Cards are the main draw, filling out the lore of the game, but they also track progress and, once you hit a tier, you get in-game bonuses.

You can also see shop stock, but not buy. :(

To add to this, it's almost OP to fight a low level as a warlock when you have Surge and fast reload gear on. Using an Auto Rifle in this case is hilarious.

I think my biggest gripe with the game is that all the classes play essentially the same...in the sense that they're all gun classes. I feel like Bungie really missed an opportunity to make unique classes. For example, I feel the Warlock should have been essentially an all space magic spell class, the hunter an all melee/rogue class and the Titan the gun class. Instead, we have 3 classes that, at there core, are all play essentially the same.

Guys ? Am I right in saying that the "faction" or "company" ranking takes over the crubicle ranking when you wear one of their class items (eg. future war faction ranking points at the end of a crubicle match replace the crubible rank points ? )

Correct. When you wear a particular faction's class item, all Crucible and Vanguard points you earn go towards that faction. It's the only way to level up your reputation with them.

It would be cool if the Warlock had a weapon like the needler that shot out of a staff or something for sure.

Awesome. Thanks.

In PvP, what does Void do though? It seems arc knocks out shields faster and Solar burns.

One question guys.
I was looking to see if my saved data was uploaded to PS+ cloud service but it's not there and it's not in PS4's system storage either.Does that mean my progress is being saved on Bungie's servers only?

Haven't played a ton (only just hit level 8 last night) so I'm just now getting past the beta content.

Ran into my first public event yesterday and I loved it. I thought it had a pretty epic, "setpiece"-type feel:

I was in The Divide in Old Russia working solo on a patrol. There were a couple of other randoms in there doing their own thing, probably the same. The message comes in that a Fallen Devil Walker is inbound. I quickly wrap up what I was doing and start scanning around to see what it might be.

As I'm panning around, I see a dropship wink into being overhead

and disgorge an assortment of Fallen. Behind it, another dropship appears and this one deposits the Devil Walker to the ground.

I had been holding a position on high ground but fire from the dropships forced me down. One of the other randoms and I took position close together behind some of the ruined shipping containers. We took turns trying to wear down the tank and holding off the Fallen infantry who were reinforced a couple of times over the course of the battle.

Unfortunately, we were not able to take down the Walker.

For my part, I'm not particularly well geared at this stage and given that there were only three of us, the five minute limit was just not enough time.

Despite that, the event itself was a blast-- a really nice surprise to happen. I hadn't seen any events up until now and didn't see any during my time in the beta.

* * *

By the way, Old Russia feels big to me-- am I the only one? During the missions I sort of zipped quickly past everything but now that I'm meandering at a much slower pace in patrol, I'm surprised at just how vast it seems (bordered by invisible walls or no).

I'm with you on that. I am lvl 7 because I haven't had much time to play in the last few days (stupid real-world priorities... unreal...). I'll be able to play a ton starting this Sunday but will be on in spurts during the evenings (USA - Central time zone).

It's tough right now because the guns are still pretty weak but you're getting to the tougher enemies that take a TON of bullets to bring down. From what I've heard, once you hit level 10-ish, the loot really picks up.

I'm on PS4, GKW212 if you want to add me.

I think the subclasses help differentiate them, though I think the starting subclasses do this enough. A Sunsinger Warlock can throw grenades for days and they look neat. Also the sunsinger can get kills when he's using his super and drop a ton of orbs for his teammates.

its an online game so your progress is on bungies servers regardless. No need for cloud saves

Yeah, I just feel that they took the easy way out and just made them all essentially the same thing but with different names and a couple of skills. Instead they could have made 3 really unique classes and a game experience that would have been truly different for the first person genre.

Still not sure what effect my weapons have in PVP.

Do all bullets fired from a gun have the same damage? Do all bullets from all pulse rifles deal the same damage?

Is it balanced so where a gun with a bigger clip or higher fire rate does less damage per bullet than one with a smaller clip or slower rate of fire?

Does stability/recoil stat matter in PVP?

I know you have access to the special abilites on guns as my rocket launcher has 3 missiles a clip in PVP and PVE.

Really what cool stuff did you find?

Uhm they said the beta was like 5% of the main game. Everybody assumed the beta had locked off a stupid amount of content.

Not the case.

Well for us the cool stuff was all the great architecture, the little details Bungie has everywhere, the sheer amount of "oh my god this keeps going down even further??" stuff like that. The overall experience basically.
I absolutely adore the game for this, it feels incredible to explore the places in this game.

I feel you place way more emphasis on "how does this advance me in the game mechanics" than I do in this game. I've spent more time in patrol mode than any other mode so far. I'm lvl 15 when I could be way way way ahead. I don't care at all, if I played how most people did, the game would not be even close to as fun as it is now.

The classes are really unique. Weapons are just interchangeable.

I'll try that story mission one more time, but if it craps out again, I'm done for the day. At this point I fail to see how my connection is at fault: my NAT is open, the neccesary ports are opened, there shouldn't be any issues.

another really odd/dumb design choice: why no map vote? I don't want to play Moon 3 out of 4 times or the same damn strike we just did, and neither do my teammates. Its like Bungie is going backwards with their matchmaking suite and UI here.

This too. Every other map was literally First Light, and after a few hour session we randomly got that one map with the pikes and stuff on Mars I forgot existed because it was so long since it came up.

Hell I wouldn't be surprised if there's still a map in there that we never played.

Guys please help! I entered in all the codes that came with my ps4 LE of Destiny but I haven't seen any of the exclusive content. How do I see this stuff? In lv23 and finished everything in the game but can't find Dust Palace or the MP map or even the preorder Vanguard Armory wtf :(

Yikes, I'd like to know this too. I haven't checked my save files yet.

edit: And answered.

finally made it to the end of the beta section. now to wait for the weekend to really spend some time grinding...

So much this!!!!!

I'm in the same boat, and I think it contributes a lot to my overwhelming satisfaction with the game.

Shit, I even like doing it on PVP maps. So much good stuff (especially if you read the Cards for each arena).

Boom, you nailed it. People see the level cap and want to figure out how to get there as quickly as they can so they can tell everyone about it. This is a game to take nice and slow if you want my opinion.

Any chance that anyone here has a spare Gamestop Advanced Warfare preorder Destiny Shader code I can have to save me a trip to Gamestop later to preorder the game to get that Shader?

I'm sure everyone has used their's, but I figure it can't hurt to ask. :)

Dust palace is on mars...

This might not be a popular opinion but imho the map design for Old Russia and the surface of the moon isn't doing it for me. I mean it doesn't they're so devoid of life (I know the moon and all), but in general it feels like a big disjointed mixture of multiplayer maps. Even if (possibly) they weren't going for realism I find my immersion broken. The empty generic structures, the sporadic small caves with nothing inside, the barren land. The inside of the moon has more inspired structures that don't feel like they were taken out of a multiplayer map. I can't be too eloquent on it because I can't find the right words to describe how I feel I or why other areas of the design that are making me feel this way I guess.

Maybe Mars and Venus will feel like places that could in a future exist.
