Apple iPhone 6 [OT]

Looks like I'm transferring a number from T-Mobile and swapping out that iPhone 6 with my current phone. Fuck yes.

If I transfer the T-Mobile number to my Verizon account and it still takes a week for the phone to get here, does that mean she's gonna go without a phone for a week?

Can she still use her T-Mobile line until her Verizon phone is 100% set up?

I did this once when I switched from T-Mobile and I had the phone immediately because I did it in store.

Called AT&T and they said the trade in for 4S has to be in good cosmetic condition. I have lots of Best Buy gift cards so I looked into that. No online preordering. Saw that no Pluses are available (only want the standard anyways). Horrible.

For those that have done the pre-order in store pick up option in the past, what was the line up like? We may be getting that option once again in Canada, and seeing as to how I am relying on my brother to cart the phone over to me in Korea (he leaves the day the phone comes out) I am trying to minimize the chances of not getting the phone on release day and consequently in my hands the following day.

UPS can be crap shoot, though the delivery method is supposed to be guaranteed 10.30-12.00pm, but I feel that might be cutting it close.

Any experiences with in store pick up for pre-ordered (unlocked) iPhones on release day?

this is my situation right now (note i have unlimited data plan)

Final decision GAF: Contract renewal or NEXT

Are both of your devices still on contract?

From what I can gather, if you have a device on contract, with the mobile share it's $40 per device - $25 discount if you get the 10 GB plan.

However, if you upgrade one of those phones, the discount goes away. (which I'm guessing means a standard on contract purchase). If you go with NEXT, you get the discount back.....BUT you are also paying the device charge per month. For a 64GB iPhone 6 this is $32 or $37 depending on which plan you go with (12 month or 18 month).

So if I'm understanding correctly, even with NEXT that $40 doesn't go away, you still have the per device charge. So with Mobile Share + NEXT, you get $40 - $25 discount + $32 phone charge or $37 if you go 12 month. which means with NEXT and a new iPhone upgrade you're paying more than you would if you just bought the phone on a new contract.

....I think?

I'm new to upgrading my phone at full price. I'm with Verizon, and my upgrade discount doesn't happen until next year. If I buy a phone tonight, will I still be able to upgrade at a discount next year? And does it matter if I make my purchase through Apple or Verizon's website? Thanks.

Can you wait to transfer the number until the new phone arrives? I just transferred an active T-Mobile number to a Verizon line I'd set up the day before with no trouble at all.

From past releases, if you chose to pick up at the store then there is a seperate line which is of course a lot shorter.

Yes, you will be guaranteed yours on release day. Pre-orders are set aside, and can't be sold that day. I think you will be in a different line, and it will go by quicker (so a pre-order line).

So a separate line for online preorder! Sounds good!!!

I plan to get my Iphone 6, get it activated & screen shield installed. If I like the cases they have then I'll get one also...

is $450 a fair price for an unlocked AT&T 32GB iPhone 5S? Its got a nice scratch on the bezel between the volume rocker and vibrate switch.

I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times so i'm sorry in advance.

Anyone know how long the Verizon trade in deal goes for? My contract won't end until Oct. 15.

The problem being that if I wanted to order the iPhone at the subsidized price, I'd have to transfer the number over when I order the iPhone tonight.

The number is being transferred either way because she's sick of T-Mobile. The question is whether or not agreeing to transfer it tonight messes with her current T-Mobile line for a week until the iPhone gets here and I can switch her new Verizon line to my phone and I take the iPhone.

If you order from Att you can't keep your the unlimited plan?
You can. That said, I'd argue it's not worth it.

You don't get texts, and are data throttled. For around the same price as data/phone only (or a bit less), you get unlimited texts and 2GB data.

I've had unlimited since before iPhone even launched. A crazy PDA plan ... basically the oldest they had. Dropped it a few months back. Just doesn't make sense anymore due to the other crap they pull.

Sorry, not jumping on iPhone this time.
Nothing wowed me. Everything looks the same and all features are definitely old.
I've had an iPhone since the very first at launch so it'll be weird getting rid of it.

Here I come Android!

Is it possible to pre-order online and get the trade-in value? I want to pre-order on AT&T;s website since I'm out of town and trade-in my 4 year old iphone 4. However, I'll definitely need my phone for the next week.

Question: Do any of you guys know whether or not the Apple Store app on the iPhone will allow one to preorder an unlocked iPhone? I was looking at the app and I don't see T-Mobile as an option in configuration, just Sprint/Verizon/ATT
Anyone know?

I guess if not, I can just go to the apple on my Mac. But at the same time I don't want to waste a couple of minutes on the App Store if it can't be done.

yes, you get upgrade discount next year.
it doesn't matter if you purchase through apple or verizon.

I'm on the fence with 5S or 6, currently had the 5 for 2 years now and I'm eligible for an upgrade, looking to switch up while the value still good.

I'm not a fan of big phones, but I did own the HTC Evo before my 5, so can anyone win me over with the 6?

Few questions:

1) Do you guys expect the Iphone 6+ to be sold out tonight? I won't really know if I'll have the funds for an upgrade until tomorrow afternoon, so will that be too late? :/

2) If I pre-order with an upgrade through the AT&T website, will I have to wait for it to be shipped to me or could I just pick up an Iphone 6+ in a local AT&T store the day they come out that would be held for me?

3) Is AT&T doing trade-ins for Android phones to put towards purchasing an Iphone 6+? I have a Galaxy S3, and it will be gathering dust after I get the new Iphone, so I'd like to get some trade-in credit for it if possible.

1. Yes, definitely sold out. Expect 1-4 week shipping delays if you aren't there pre-ordering within the first couple hours. May not be that bad, but mentally prepare for it.

2/3. Don't know.
