Your Current Gen Retail purchases versus Digital purchases

I won't list, because I have a lot to count, but 90-95% is physical across all 3 console platforms. Will get digital only if it is offered that way for titles I care about like RE:make HD and Outlast.

Wii U: about 8 retail, 4 digital
PS4: 2 retail, 0 digital
Xbox One: Do not own (yet!)

Slightly odd, because I don't really regard myself as someone who'd naturally prioritise retail over digital;. I think it's more that I haven't really been compelled to purchase much this generation as yet.

PS4: 10 retail - 30 digital (18 bought, 12 PS+)
XB1: 1 retail - 5 digital (all GwG)
Wii U: 6 retail - 1 digital (free with MK8 promo)

EDIT: nvm didn't read the first post. this included digital-only games.

Well I don't feel like verifying if every single retail game is available for download too so just counting all physical and then digital games that I know have retail releases.

PS4

Physical: 47
Digital: 4
  • inFamous First Light
  • Worms Battegrounds
  • Minecraft
  • Akiba's Trip 2

This is kind of pushing it TBH. inFamous and Worms are only because they are digital only in North America but I am counting them because I could have always imported the physical versions instead if I wanted to. Minecraft is only because that is the only option right now and I didn't feel like waiting so was more forced into it. Akiba's Trip 2 is the only one that really came down to me deciding to go digital instead of physical. I was bored one night and decided to download it instead of importing a physical copy like I normally would. So realistically it really should just be 1 since there is only one where I sat and thought about which way to go with the purchase.

Xbox One

Physical: 12
Digital: 0

Wii U

Physical: 20
Digital: 2
  • NES Remix
  • NES Remix 2

Again kind of pushing it since I am counting the NES Remix games due to the retail release that wasn't an option at the time like I did with Minecraft on PS4. There was also Tank! Tank! Tank! and Wii Party U but didn't purchase any of the Tank! Tank! Tank! unlocks so can't count that. And Wii Party U was what I picked for the free game with Mario Kart 8 so can't count that. Like the PS4 list this really should be 0. But I am being technical about it and giving digital a bit of mercy.

XB1: 16 digital, 0 physical

AC4, COD, D3:UEE, Destiny, DR3, Forza, KSR, Metro 2033 Redux, Metro LL Redux, MGS:GZ, Ryse, Titanfall, TR:DE, Trials Fusion, Watch_Dogs, Wolfenstein:TNO

Only ones I regret are KSR and MGS:GZ. I'm not much for trading in games, but I definitely would have shipped those off to Amazon for a gift card.

But a couple of bad choices don't make me regret going digital. It's just too damn convenient.

Vita
Physical 17
Digital 1

3DS
Physical 7
Digital 0

WiiU
Physical 3
Digital 0

Xbone
Physical 1
Digital 0

PS4
Physical 12
Digital 1

Xbox One
10 Digital (not counting the 4 EA games I got in the vault)
1 Physical (AC4 - traded a madden 02 for X360 at FutureShop and then traded unopened X360 to EB games for XB1 disc)

PS4 - 7 physical, 2 digital
Wii U - 11 physical, 1 digital
XB1 - 1 physical, 0 digital

The ease of switching between cable tv/games without having to put in a disc caused me to go full digital on XB1 and retail on PS4. I have some digital titles on PS4 but it's mostly "Indie" stuff

So you are more of a physical game kind of guy, but are doing digital specially for XB1 because of your desire to switch between cable and game? Or is there some other reason you are buying PS4 games physically only?

XB1: 18 physical, 1 digital (Madden 15)

There are quite a few more digital games though if we're including EA Access, downloadable only games, GwG, etc.

XB1: 7 retail / 1 digital [Forza 5, when it went on sale]
PS4: 3 retail / 0 digital

I'd be full digital if it weren't for the fact that retail is usually at least £10-15 cheaper here.

I have only got through about post 40 so far, but I am noticing a trend of XOne being slanted heavily towards digital, PS4 being about 50/50, and Wii U being slanted towards physical.

Xbox 360
30ish Physical
50+ Digital

Xbox One
17 Digital
1 Physical (It came free with the console) and I regret it

Digital Only all the way, IMHO Physical sucks big time.

PS4: 10 digital retail games (Tomb Raider, Watch Dogs, Spiderman, Call of Duty, MLB the show, MGS, UFC, Assassins Creed 4, Metro Redux, the Last of Us)

2 digital only games (Outlast and Strider)

Got the system in march and slapped a one terabyte sshd in there in May. I'm done with discs.

I don't know the exact number, but I own virtually no retail games for the WiiU or PS4. I own one retail game for the 3DS, because Tales of the Abyss isn't on the eShop. I might buy Smash Brothers WiiU at Gamestop, because I want the adapter and the controller.

Xbox One
Physical - 1 (Tomb Raider)
Digital - 1 (D3UEE)

I bought Diablo 3 digitally because 1) its cheaper 2) its the kind of game I'll be playing a lot so it's convenient that I dont have to change discs

I'll be buying Nba2k15 digitally and GTAV in physical so it will still be tied

PS4:

Physical - 8
Digital - 1 (Rayman Legends because "impulse" says it all)

XBO:

Physical - 1 (Destiny through Ghost Edition)
Digital - 3
