Yeah, it's hard listening to someone that you just feel gets so much wrong. Like, I kept wanting to interject and say: "but"...but I can't talk to a VLOG. I can't even remember specifics, as I watched all his ATLA and Book 1 of Korra VLOG (and only some of Book 2). I just remember finding myself disagreeing over every little thing ,and him constantly taking views that I just found baffling.

I have no issue listening to people with other opinions. But when it's something I'm really passionate about, I really really prefer a discussion forum. All this said, I do like Doug Walker quite a bit. I enjoy his NC videos, and am a fan.
Well, I like him too and watch his NC and Bum videos. But I often disagree with him when he can't comprehend weirdness. This happens not that often but sometimes even in his NC reviews, when he screams about something I actually understand. I guess it's part of the entertainment to exaggerate, but he doesn't have the excuse for the Doug that talks about ATLA and Korra.

For example I can see that he deems on escape attempt of the Boiling Rock as superfluous But seeing him not liking the children dancing to freedom or exaggerating the environment part of the Painted Lady, despite it just being the tool to develop Katara and the topic of intervention.

I haven't seen the list but it apparently has two good episodes on it so I know I'll disagree

the one about technology and aang adapting to it?

that was literally one of the few good episodes of season 1, and it set up the fire nation getting blimps

The one where Aang and his entourage are mass murderers, yeah.

Ehh. Not saying it's bad, just worse than Jet or the Boiling Rock pt 1. Didn't really like the crazy professor/wheelchair kid combo.

Asami would be happy to come with you, Korra.

korras going to come back with her hair cut and makos gonna be like wow youre super hot with your new hair and theyre going to

Didn't you make an avatar bet over how Mako and Korra will get back together, Satch? Or some sort of bet?

i said that if mako and korra dont get back together by the end, i will wear a mako avatar for a year

im pretty confident that they will, no matter how much i dislike them together

Yeah, no.

They've been trying to bury Makorra for a year now.

Bryke isn't touching that shit with a ten foot pole.

lol I'll feel bad, because I was adamant they were over. I'm torn, because I want to satch to be right. But I also don't want them to be together! What do I WANT!

What, with the significant looks and shit over season 3?

I'm not as confident as Satch is, but if Korra is gonna end up with anyone, it's gonna be Mako since he's literally the only male they set up that has any closeness to Korra that isn't 1. Related to her or 2. old, married, and her teacher.

I'd be willing to say that she might end up with no one or at most ambiguous.

I agree that at this point, it's either Mako or no one. They haven't set up anyone else. So unless they introduce a new love interest, or establish a new romance with another character, I'm not seeing it. Either it's Mako, nothing, or they cram in a poorly written romance for the end.

Yeah, definitely possible. But so is Makorra.

Though I'd love it if they trolled everyone and just had had a written epilogue saying "Months later, Korra and Ryu got joyously married and had several children."

"Yeah, I married the avatar. Big deal."

Clips feels like just the next episode of Book 3...

Which is good! We even get
a Zaheer flashback.

Very "glad" (not for Korra) that the story picks up right were we left off.

lol didn't even realize this was posted already. Wow. Anyways, when I try to watch it, it keep auto switching to "Jinora's best moments". Fack.

EDIT:

missed Hamlet's link. Was able to watch it. So it's pretty much what you could expect from a first episode.

Imagine if they introduce a new LI in Book 4 that helps Korra find her way. I could only see it working really well or really horrible with people being outraged that Korra needed a man to feel competent, complete or whatever. Given the show's track record, I'd lean more towards the latter since the show has yet to pull off one convincing romance for me( not even Pema and Tenzin. Although they did have one nice moment in Book 3.). I wasn't a shipper nor have I ever particularly cared about the romantic subplots on this show but the only romantic relationships I could've bought and felt setup at one point would've been Toph and Aang in Book 2 and Katara and Zuko in Book 2. Katara and Aang while not bad felt like the ending to Harry Potter. It didn't really make sense, was kinda awkward and incredibly fan service-y but it was inoffensive enough that it gets a pass. Then again the awkward and weird part had more to do with the fact that Aang was 12. I take it back though, I did like Sokka and Sukki. Too bad that's one of the few pairings we have no idea about the outcomes of nor do we really know much about what happened to them.

Yeah, it's gonna be either Mako or nobody. I would prefer nobody, but I got the sense they were dropping Makorra hints in Book 3. Could be that I'm just paranoid about romance in this show by now, but that's what my money is on.

Korrasami will always be number one in my heart.

While I like Korrasami's interaction the last two books. It really doesn't make much sense. They didn't interact too much with each other and were stand offish in Book 1 and in Book 2 they were pretty much independent of each other and then in Book 3 they all of a sudden became close friends. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy it but it has little foundation.

I don't think anyone ships Korrasami because they think that's what's actually going to happen in the show.

Edit: I get what you're saying about their friendship sort of coming out of thin air. I think they were trying to lay the groundwork for that late in Book 2, but I feel that pretty much all of the Krew's relationships with each other (both romantic and platonic) feel really artificial. There's no sense that these people would ever actually spend time together (except for Mako and Bolin as brothers) without authorial fiat.

Korrasami was always unrealistic. I actually would have loved this relationship, and it would have been bold (sad to say that) if Nick had done this. But it was never the intention of the show. So even at this point if they did go with it, I doubt they would handle it right. And I also really can't buy this idea that both of them happen to be bi-sexual. I dunno. I guess it's a fictional show, so characters can be whatever they want to be. Just seems like the foundation isn't really there for it feel believable.

And despite the fact that Korra is off TV now, they wrote book 4 with the idea that it would still be on air. SO I dunno.

Their faces look funny at the beginning.... I'm having pierrot flashbacks

I was actually going back and watching Book 1, IMO the production took a big hit in Book 2 and 3. I know there was the whole Pierrot taking over for Mir. But even Book 3 looked kind of sloppy compared to Book 1. The biggest thing is the expressions. Like the animation is much more fluid, and the characters are a lot more expressive in their facial animations.

Sorry if I wasn't being clear. I was speaking on a friendship level not anything romantic. Anyway the only time the Krew has really jelled together was that one Book 3 episode where they were staking out the hotel room. I suppose episodes after that were also believable. However, Bolin at the beginning of S3 talked about them being some big inseparable group of friends but most of them spent a good amount of time being separate and independent from the main plot line in Book 2 after just becoming familiar with each other in Book 1.

Korra isn't bi, she's just exploring her sexuality because she never had the opportunity to do so while being cooped up at the South Pole. She thought Mako was cool because he was a pro-bender, but it wasn't until she met Asami that she discovered what love is.

Yeah sorry, I didn't mean to lump your post with shipping talk. I was just talking in general. I agree with everything you said, my bad. The group stuff has always been really bad IMO. One of the biggest failures of the show. Although I think they've made some steps to try to solidify Korra and Asami being close. Although even that kind of feels strange, when when most of the time Asami is no where to be seen, or is pushed to the background. I kind of feel like, I missed the time they spent together where they suddenly became closer. Especially considering the fact that, Asami never had like a reaction to Korra stealing her boyfriend (Mako basically cheated on her, and Korra pursued him knowing they were dating).

So the whole thing comes off kind of strange. Like, uh....Asami never reacted to any of this. And they didn't spend any time together in Book 2. But oh wait, they shared some girl time in Episode 1 of Book 3 talking shit on Mako. Guess they deep pals now. Granted, I actually liked those scenes. I'm just talking in a larger sense, this show has really done a poor job with the relationship stuff. And so even Korra and Asami which I like, sort of feels kind of contrived this late in the game. Er..or rather it kind of feels a bit hollow I guess. I'll roll with it though, I do like them paired up.

I called that cameo on Nostalgia Critics Top 11 a mile away. After Mara Wilson and Pinky and the Brain, it seems like any cameo is possible.
