This is correct. The maximum light from all-upgraded blue armor is 60 which equals Level 24.5ish.

I think... when I hit 26 I'll put together a bit of a leveling guide. Seeing people farming one spot for hours and then raging when they don't get upgrades out of it is... troubling.

You have to stay in the circle for the downloading bar to keep going up, it needs to reach 100% in a time limit or you get bronze/silver. I didn't get gold because at one point I was surrounded by generals and knights and died like 3-4 times.

Why would they? They may change it, but it's not needing "fixed" if you read the info on the engrams it tells you exactly what might happen.

It's working as they intended it to. Chances are the higher you level, the better chance of a purple, just like greens replace whites.

I know. That's why I say that chances are they won't fix it. Now whether we're gonna argue if it needs fixing that's another entirely different argument lol. Maybe they could up the chances of getting them more often, I dunno.

For these items, can you please explain to me what each does and how I use them? I have no idea why Bungie didn't include a guide.

Mote of light can be used as currency to buy cosmetic items from the speaker or a random exotic engram from the black market merchant when he is up.

Strange coin is used as currency for items from the black market merchant.

Rest are crafting mats used to upgrade your gear, or if you have a lot you can trade them in for rep/marks at various quartermasters in the tower.

Motes of Light and Strange Coins are used as currency to buy items from NPC, namely the Speaker and Xur (who appears on Fridays and Saturdays only).

The rest of those items are used to upgrade legendary and exotic equipment.
 
Waaaaaaaa. I just got 40 kills and 10 captures in Control, the guy bottom of our team got FOUR items, the board had to add another two reward blocks next to the first two. Oh and at least one was a legendary o.O

As for my GT, its been that since MW2 came out. Someone owns the GT BraXzy.. probably me on a free month. Is there a way to check?

To the best of my knowledge:

Mote of Lights - Vanity items from the Speaker or Exotic Engram from Xur when he appears.

Strange Coin - Exotic gear from Xur.

Everything else can be used for legendary+ weapon upgrades I think?

Only thing I can see them changing is the percentages. But they will probably always give you lesser gear or gear for another class.

Motes of Light and Strange Coins can be used to purchase gear, such as class items or exotic gear.

Spinmetal, Helium Filaments, and Spirit Bloom, as well as Relic Iron have two uses: they can be traded in for reputation with Crucible or Vanguard, or can be used to help upgrade armor. Ascendant Shards can be used to upgrade Legendary or Exotic gear.

What about taking a break from it then? I'd recommend trying some other modes like Strike Playlist or try the daily heroic story mission solo if you want to try and take things slower (I do).

Ultimately though, I'd just say playing something else-- esp. something completely different-- for a bit can stave off total burnout which I feel a number of people are going to be hitting here pretty soon. Did you grab anything from GWG or PS+ this month that you haven't tried out yet?

For me, I'm actually doing some arena battles in First Light and playing a bit of Velocity 2X (it's awesome). I figure I also ought to finally crack open Metro Redux to keep my PvE skills fresh while still taking a break from Destiny if I need it.

Correct. For the materials, save them instead of turning them in, as most Exotics require a different type.(It's not worth it to trade them in either way)

-So far, just for buying cosmetic stuff rom the speaker.
-Buying Exotics from Xur, who only shows up on the weekends.
-Upgrading some weapons, and can be turned in for reputation/marks at the faction of your choice.
-Upgrading Legendary armors.
-See Spinmetal
-See Spinmetal.

And yeah, having, like, a tooltip or something would have been helpful.

Mote of Light- buy class armor (bond, cape) from speaker or save up enough to buy an exotic engram from the weekend vendor.

Strange Coin- get 13 to buy exotic armor piece from weekend vendor. More for weapons.

Spinmetal- one of the materials used for upgrading weapons/armor, also if you get 50 of any material from the planets you can trade them in for marks, rep and glimmer.

Ascendant Shard- used for upgrading legendary/exotic armor on some of their later upgrades.

Helium Filaments- look at spinmetal description.

Spirit Bloom- look at spinmetal description.

I'm relatively sure these are right but I'm sure everyone else can clarify. This is at best as I can remember. The two currencies might be useful in other places as well. Maybe the strange coin and motes of light are usable with other merchants that I don't know

These are all item upgrade materials, of varying rarity. Just hang on to them and they'll be used to upgrade your gear along the way and especially your higher level stuff.

Motes = Currency for Xur at weekends
Strange coin = same
Spinmetal = Upgrade materials for legendary and up or traded for rep
Ascendant Shard = Mats for fiinal upgrade tree of legendary and up
Helium Filaments = Same as spinmetal
Spirit Bloom = Ditto

Yeah, I think I will. I'll try easing up on how much I play every day or maybe just play every couple of days instead. I haven't tried the strike playlist so I might give that a shot.

Good advice, I have some PS+ games to play still and I can always play some matches in garden warfare.

I think one of the first few groups to do it did it in 14+ hours. But that's also considering these are guys who are probably really into the game and took time off work/don't have other stuff to do to do it all in one go. So they're probably extremely hardcore destiny players. I mean most folks level 20+ already probably fit the bill as well.

hahaha. We won't have an "average" time until it's solved and the strats are all common knowledge. If we were to average the runs so far it would be like 8 hours or something

I got a new legendary! Wait... it's a Warlock bond. Goddammit! 25+ legendary engrams, 2 legendary weapons and that Warlock bond. Bungie, please love me more!
 
Finally! Got all 3 weapons slots filled with Legendaries and 3/4 armor slots with Legendaries and level 26.

Now to get some sleep in and when I wake up I'm going to give the Nightfall strike a shot. Hopefully I can get it done before work tonight.
 
16 hours in and I got my first legendary and hit level 23!

It's a pretty solid sniper rifle, nothing special.

It's called broken truth which I thought was funny.
