DRIVECLUB: 30 minutes of new Beta footage

I miss the days when games were judged on their own merits rather than "VS" a game from a similar genre.

Anyway; Drive Club looks to have a much greater sense of speed and a better variety of vehicles than Knack, from the limited previews i've seen.

If the game gets docked points for doing something it was never going to EVER do or was never planned I would just ignore the reviewer. I can't fucking stand it when a reviewer puts a negative in that was basically stated, it was never planned in the damn game design. How can you say somethings negative when it was NEVER PLANNED!

That's like docking points to a need for speed game because your driver can't shoot out the window........it was never in the game design.

blah BLAH BLAH!

You guys are so full of shit.

Driveclub is Sonys answer to Bulcevird, a game made by Kaz's evil twin and his secret underground corporation Ynos, of which only the molemen and a few select pokémon trainers know about.
(but dont tell anyone I told you)

Reviewers would never dock for it not being explicitly open world. They would dock for it being "safe" or "not innovative" or not embracing the "new paradigm" of racing games.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be slaughtered by the press. I'm personally looking forward to GiantBomb's freshman year comedy magazine existential crisis review.

Do you think if Evo could give reviews a sample of weather code during review process. Would that help it considering it's the one thing it does really well than any other racer on the market. Yh the "next-gen" gameplay nonsense is silly because no game as far as offered that.

Meh. What's it really matter? By giving a chunk of the game away by PS+, Sony are effectively bypassing the media. If you want to see what the game is like, you can without anyone else telling you.

yep everything you said there is going happen even thought those phase only get throw around when they feel like it .

Evolution's DriveClub will not be brought to you by IGN, and will not have a suspiciously high rating on MetaCritic.

Evolution will not give your mouth sex appeal.
Evolution will not have an Oscar worthy script.
Evolution will not make you look five pounds thinner, because the corridors will not be wide, Brother.

You will not have to worry about adjusting your tyre pressure, passing a license test, or the number of credits you require to purchase a Mazda 3.
Evolution will not go better with Mountain Dew.
Evolution will not fight the germs that may cause bad breath.

You will not be able to drive off road, brother.

Evolution will put you in the driver's seat.

Evolution will let you drive.

This was very smart, elaborated and well constructed.

And it also holds some nice points that are still not being televised.

Bravo sir.

Yeah, for Sony its good situation. Depending on reviews they can always say: Get PS+ and try it yourself.

Most important thing is they should make it clear that 11 new tracks + 9 new cars will be given for free after the game release.

Driveclub will have the same problem as Destiny. Every one is going to complain about the Lack of content and we just keep doing the same thing again and again. 5 locations, only sports cars is going to be big issue.

Oh forgot about that. Also I see some people complaining about limited customization.

17gb is pretty damn big, I'm not sure many people will download the ps+ edition even if it's free.

OMG.

It's c0de.

That footage from the Italian website has affirmed my decision to pre-order.

I'm happy looking at my bonus goodies and the countdown.

Are you living in the same year we are?

17GB is pretty common these days. If you have owned a PS4 and downloaded anything you have seen that number, or much larger, already.

Pretty sure nearly everyone will be downloading this game, just because.

Will the weather update work with the PS+ edition as well?

Yes.

Also you only need to download 3gb to start playing.

I stopped listening to what reviewers have to say about racing games when they docked points from GT5 for having confusing menus.

That's nothing compared to what "little" racing games without marketing budget receive as reviews.

See IGN's reviews of WRC/MotoGP titles and then you can truly say don't trust what reviewers say about racing games. They basically don't know anything about the genre and basically take the PR bulletpoints and write a review except for two guys that work for Eurogamer (Martin Robinson and Matt Edwards?!?) that actually know what a racing game is and how a racing game should be reviewed.

Unfortunately sports/racing dedicated reviewers have ended when websites started downsizing and we are stuck with people that work for IGN giving Football Manager a 2 out of 10 because you can't actually play the game on the pitch unlike FIFA and PES. Go figure.

Score will be docked for no weather, limited number of cars, little diversity in cars (mostly
Euro brands), strictly track racing (this will be highlighted quite a bit due to FH2 being
released earlier), limited customization/tuning of cars, subpar liveries, no custom music
support....

Metacritic score of 70-79 seems likely for the game. It has not much going for it other than
its visuals and nebulous club racing concept, and the most exciting aspect (weather)
won't even be at launch for reviews.

I think the game will be a better product once all the DLC and patches are released for the
game by early 2015. PS+ verion will be crucial for good word of mouth.

You were right about all of that except for the track racing bit. A great track racer can certainly earn some great reviews if it's edecited really well. The fact that the weather didn't make launch after a one year delay, whelp......don't even know what to say about that.

I don't necessarily believe it should be docked for being a track racer, but I guarantee
you that it will be chastised for being a traditional racer when FH2 is being released
so close to DC. Seriously, they should have had this game ready for a summer
launch so that it wouldn't have to be overshadowed the way it is right now.

I personally will probably sink many hours into DC, but from Day 1, Sony and Evo
have done little to boost the game's prospects.

I completely agree with you the release date. Even early September would have been a much better choice.

Yeah, like I mentioned earlier, it's very telling that IGN PS created three top 25 lists for the PS4, PS3 and Vita, and none of them included a racing game. It's pretty damn incredible that a Vita list could be made without including 2048.

Hah, too bad he's banned. I would have liked to hear his thoughts on all the perceived corridors in this video.

As others have said though, the PS+ edition sort of makes reviews mostly unnecessary. Most of us will have a chance to play a decent chunk of the game and then purchase it based on that.

It was always scheduled to be post release and it's not as though it was ready for the freeze. The worse thing to do would be to push forward major planned features just because you've had a planned release pushed back. That's just asking for another delay.

They announced the release date before Forza Horizon's was announced as far as I recall.

Reviewing a racing game must be pretty easy.

Does it control well? - check
Are there tracks to race on? - check
Are there cars that go 200mph for 90% of players to use exclusively? - check
Does it look good? - check
Sound good? - check

Ok awesome! 7.0 it is.
