Lame move. This wasn't really a buy for me anyway though. Mordor already scratched any itch I had for this style of gameplay this year.

I still may pick it up on sale sometime next year if the reviews are good.

So many confused people in here.

We aren't angry that the PS4 and XB1 versions are running at the same specs.

We're mad because Ubisoft flat out said PS4 could do better, but they decided to keep it the same because of "debates".

Nobody has a problem with them busting their ass on the XB1 version to get it up to where the PS4 version is. It's the fact that they chopped the PS4 version down.

As well as creating an environment for worry with all future Ubisoft titles as well as any other third party developer. I don't want to buy games that could be better but are gimped instead to offer parity. If this becomes a trend then whats the fucking point of buying the more powerful console and supporting the company that made it? How the fuck does the technology progress when it pertains to gaming? All because of parity?
 
I just don't understand why people get so worked up over this stuff. If you have been interested in AC: Unity up until now, passing because of parity seems so pointless. Just play the game. Losing sleep over pixels is not a good look.

Supporting ignorance is not a good look either.
 
well on most levels... because you're paying for the experience of the product, not it's resolution.

Did you not but DVD movies because it was available to be seen in-theaters at better quality? No, you buy it because you want the content and all you had was a DVD player.

Paramount doesn't come out with 480p Blu-ray movies so people who only own DVD players won't feel bad.

Fuck this garbage, I fully flat-out refuse to support Ubisoft on anything right now.
 
Thats not the point, there could be deal, there could not be. But what I've concluded in my head from this info is that it seems like an MS deal to me so thats what I am going to assume.
Yes, but the only way you could be convinced otherwise is if they prove a negative. When that's the case, I'm not sure that you should be so set on your assumption.
 
That isn't what UBI said nor what happened! They said the game is CPU bound. PS4 only has a more powerful graphics chip. if you are cpu bound, both systems are essentially the same speed.

all this ranting and raving is a waste of time people. Ubi hit parity by needing more CPU. Not because they couldn't make use of performance in PS4's GPU.

So all that Microsoft money for Call of Duty marketing and map packs couldn't save Ghosts from being 720p on XB1?

This argument that Microsoft forced parity is so illogical it's not even funny.

Honestly when ghost launched resolution wasn't as big as a topic as it is now. Even MS said 900p was unacceptable on Diablo. I truly don't think it's far fetched MS money could have played a role in this. Obviously there's no proof, but feasible in my opinion.

Last year's Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag also shipped at 900p/30fps on both PS4 and Xbox One. A post-release patch, however, bumped the PS4 version to 1080p. Ubisoft has given no indication that it has plans to do the same for Unity.

The parity comment was likely just a dumb way of explaining this, but he says RIGHT THERE it's the CPU that's the bottleneck, because of all the crazy AI they have in this game. Surprise surprise, the CPU's on these two consoles are nearly identical.

Can you fucking stop this? I mean FFS, CPU bound has nothing to do with resolution. CPU bound is about framerate.
 
I'm insinuating that they are liars, and bad liars because this was the best they could come up with.

Definitely bad liars. I thought the, "if it weren't for this we could have the game running at ONE HUNDRED FPS, yeah!" took the biscuit. Kinda the dev equivalent to playground ass tales.
 
Lets not kid ourselves here, they are both identical CPU's 1 running at a higher clock because it has more overheads to contend with, snap features, kinnect etc... It does NOT have a higher CPU resource pool to use for games. PS4 chooses not to use that clock.

That higher clock (for both the CPU and the GPU, BTW) on the bone has a cost in power and heat dissipation. Maybe the PS4's cooling solution could handle the extra heat, maybe it couldn't. Dunno.
 
I wasn't going to get the game either way because Assassin's Creed is a huge snooze fest, but they definitely did PS4 owners dirty. I guess its cool that they were transparent, but perhaps you could have presented this in a different manner. I mean flat out saying, "hey we kept the two games the same to prevent debates" is pretty stupid if you ask me.

Yeah, it's so obvious I can't believe some people can't see it. If people actually interpret what he said literally, they're tin-foil hat wearers. If they ignore what he said completely, they're sensible and intelligent posters.

The real tin-foil hat wearers are those that have constantly denied this goes on. It's both ironic and frightening.

I just find it hilarious how important this shit is to you guys. Like, who honestly gives a fuck? Multiple people in this thread said that Ubisoft should have just kept their mouths shut - if they had, you guys wouldn't give a shit. I doubt that most of you could even tell that the game is not running at 1080p; hell, if it weren't for Digital Foundry, you wouldn't have these kinds of discussions in the first place. The fact that people get sooooo caught up with NUMBERS is insane to me.

Like, okay, if, for example, they reduced the size of the world or removed certain features because the Xbone can't handle that shit, I could understand people getting mad. But this? This is just pathetic.
I agree. People can be upset but still enjoy the game (it's all about having fun with the game right guys?) but this...

No, they slapped themselves across the face and then tied their shoelaces together before trying to walk with their statement. But it's not going to be a deal breaker for me, either. I still want to play the game.

As stated many times in the thread CPU deals with framerate and GPU resolution. You even highlighted in that statement that he is refering to the equal framerates, not resolution.
 
Well, I was worried about trying to fit this in among all the other games coming out soon. Not such a huge worry anymore!

Absolutely unbelievable. Our fears realized, far sooner than I would've hoped. Fuck off forever, Ubisoft.
 
I know it's selfish but I'm very ok with this because I'd rather play this on my Xbox one than my ps4 cause of the controller and achievements.
 
They have to show the Xbox One version in previews for co-marketing reasons but also want the best version to be shown. Solution: Make the PS4 version worse. Too bad walmart.ca doesn't allow pre-order cancellation.
