Pachter Predicts: Xbox One outsold PS4 in September (dance, you puppets)

It's not hate.

It's that it makes no sense. Now, if this was a prediciton for October he has a much stronger case. But September, based on all retail rumblings and common sense, seems to be a slam dunk for Sony.

That's why people "hate" (lol), because it just doesn't make sense.

He's probably receiving hateful tweets and that shouldn't happen, even if he's wrong.

Disagreeing with Pach shouldn't be considered "hate". Also funny how he is slightly backing off his prediction now with his this comment.

Out of curiosity, how has the WiiU been faring against the PS4 and the XBone? I've been getting the impression it hasn't done as well as the Wii had last gen.

Who is this Pachter creature and why are there always stories about his predictions? Does he even have a job or is he just some guy with a keyboard?

It will be fun re-reading some of the posts in this thread after the real results are out. Pachtroll created a lot of false hopes in the hearts of many a fanboy.

Did I mention the word primary or did I just say it drives innovation?

You're putting words in my mouth.
I didn't put words into your mouth, I asked a question: "Competition is the primary driver of innovation? According to what model?"

If you don't think it is the primary driver, all you had to do was say so.

I'm sure Pachter knows what he's talking about ...

I mean, if the past is any indication.

I always thought Pachter kept tabs with retailers to make these predictions. He's really just guessing based on what promotions each company is running for a given month? I thought he had extra information?

It's a great gig, if you can get it.

I don't think the majority of the responses are fan boys or haters on Pacther. I think they just jumped on this prediction because it seemed lazy when you think about this supposedly being the best month for Sony since last holiday.

He gets extra information via farts.

Where can I get myself a lucrative job where I get to make "educated" guesses and still keep my job when I am wrong numerous times every year?

You implied that's what I had said. That's obvious from your comment.

Now you are backtracking.

All I said was that it is a driver of innovation, which it is. Nobody other than you mentioned the word primary. You constructed a strawman.

Uhm...the Wii U is getting slaughtered by PS4, XBO has passed it in the US and probably UK but overall? We don't know, it sells below Wii U from time to time in the European Unions different Nations.

Ask GFK come march.

I expect win of One when Master Chief collection launches, but I have big doubts about this September/win prediction.

Will be interesting to see and I wouldn't doubt it if they did win for a month or two this coming Holiday, I mean hell I've been on the edge of wanting to get one myself so I could finally get my racing game fix with both Forza 5 and Horizon 2 (Mostly Forza 5 tho lol) and Sunset Overdrive. Always like Pachter predictions, fun to see if they come true or not, and he's been both right and wrong on these kinda prediction before.

Pretty sure Pachter just sits back behind the keyboard and plots out what prediction will piss off the fanboys the most.

Work as an economist for the government.
Alright, maybe not, but sometimes I wonder...

No, I am not backtracking. It was a question, based on how your comment read to me. All you had to do was respond "no, it is not the primary driver, that's not what I meant, but it is indeed important." There are people in this thread who seem to think that competition is indeed the primary driver of innovation. So, your comment was worth asking if you thought the same.

Shots fired
I think most of us are baffled at him underminding the Destiny deal with Activision because of two free games. Nintendo offered a free game with Mario Kart 8 and it did nothing to stop PS4 sales. The normal gamer does not keep up with games outside of marketing and word of mouth.

And they're clearly selling better on Xbox One based on the limited sales numbers we've seen. It's a silly semantic when making sales predictions, the 360 is no longer doing big sales in hw or sw.

Lol at Pach melting down.

I agree it's just hard for me to classify A game as exclusive. When it can be played on two other platforms.

Was the free game thing even something that was advertised/promoted? I never saw any commercials or ads anywhere that even promoted it, just what I've read here.

I have never posted in a 'sales' thread, but I'm genuinely, honestly curious - I've read the last 800 or so posts, and I find myself asking - Why do people care so much?

I'm reading so much passion and vitriol, and I just don't understand why a consumer would care how much their console of choice has sold?

I only own an Xbone and a fairly meaty gaming PC, and I can't help but feel that as soon as I have posted this snippet of information, it will give some sort of confirmation of bias, and that any future posts of mine will be devalued or ignored entirely.

I'm not posting this as some form of insult to those that do care about sales and NPDs, but more a desire to form some understanding of some of the enjoyment these threads seem to give people.

Apologies if this thread was not the place to make that enquiry!

Yea, as a consumer the PS2 era of single console dominance was horrible for games. I mean yuck.

I desperately scanned my post again and again in search for something about games - didn't find anything.
But if that's all you want and you don't care for anything else, fine.
If MS had been alone on the market and the One came as originally envisioned, you would also have gotten games.
You will always get games.
But i prefer my games on a console that doesn't turn into a door-stopper the moment i disconnect it from the All-Seeing-Eye (aka 24h online check for the one).
I prefer my games on a console that doesn't force me to buy a peripheral with it that i don't want (Kinect).
I prefer my games on a console where i can play online without paying for the approval to use my own connection aka for nothing (sony, ms).
I prefer my games on a console that is powerful.
...

This is a hobbyist forum and like any, people like to discuss every detail of the hobby. It's not just an interest in games but an interest in the industry as well. People like to know a lot about all the developers, their studios, contracts, publishing, etc etc....Any info anyone can get their hands on is discussed readily here.

Enthusiast forum is....enthusiastic!

I think it is because it provides more justification that they bought the right console.
I am with you personally in that I really do not care if Xbox One outsells PS4 or vise versa. As long as the parity mindset sticks with developers, we are going to get 900p, 30 FPS games despite the sales.
I just find it funny the guy is completely ignoring Destiny factoring into sales.

Because it's interesting and has consequences for our hobby. I enjoy reading and discussing the market surrounding all of my hobbies.

Note that this is merely a defense for debate and discussion, not passion and vitriol.
