There we have it, the best case scenario!

After those announcements, I can't wait till 2016. I can't get excited about Ant-Man at all. It seems more like a hurdle to take before the fun begins.

I'm also not keen on Inhumans. What's so great about them? Voiceless hero doesn't sound too hot.

Emily Blunt would be a fantastic choice. She nailed it in Edge Of Tomorrow. But would she want to be locked into a potential franchise?
She was going to play Black Widow in Iron Man 2, until she had to do reshoots on the Gulliver's Travels movie.

Inhumans are essentially going to be Marvel's replacement for the X-Men.

Push the button and do the right thing, Marvel

It's the society of superpowered people that live on the moon that's the harder sell.

Black Bolt, Medusa, Crystal, Karnak, Gorgon, Triton, and a bunch of other characters I can't remember. LOCKJAW! Teleporting giant dog monster thing.

They live on the moon. They get their abilities from the Terrigen Mists.

Yes it's an even dumber idea than GotG was, but Marvel turned that into something special. I can't wait to see some of this crazy shit on display. And even still racists out there will find Wakanda harder to fathom than a race of white superhumans living on the moon.

Do they have any connection to earth and humans?

Edit: ah ok, thanks. Still sounds weird.

I'm not as well versed as some of our comic brethren around here, but I'd wager at the minimum they've got common ancestry with humans and access to some pretty wicked tech.

And yes, it is weird. Very very weird. I'm gonna love it.

I was going to respond to the question about the Inhumans but it just registered with me that we're going to have three franchises based around the idea of a "royal family" - Thor, Black Panther and the Inhumans.

I speculated earlier in the year that Black Panther might be a story of an outsider (either through not knowing his own origins or leaving Wakanda behind previously) who has to reclaim his throne, but I think that is probably not the case based on everything.

I wonder if Inhumans might take that angle though. Maybe have an accidental Terrigen Mist release and a latent Inhuman in America is brought into Attilan (maybe forcefully) where they must join the Inhuman family.
I dunno...this is based on nothing. Ha.

They are a genetic offshoot of humanity artifically created by the Kree I believe.

Wikipedia has some answers
"[...] The search for Thane eventually reveals that secret Inhuman tribes have existed on Earth for years and mated with its population, producing a number of seemingly-normal humans who possess dormant Inhuman genes. [...]

There you have it. Also, I want Ultron in GotG2.

Yeah was just reading another article and was reminded that Marvel really, really wanted her for BW.

Seems the stars may align for this one. As I think both parties will want to make it happen this time. First female lead in a Marvel Movie will be a coveted role.

Inhumans needs to go full blown Game of Thrones, royal family politcal intrigue out the ass.

Must suck to lose your kingdom and get cuckolded by your evil brother in one fell swoop.

Deadline Article

"I hear he’s signed a lucrative five-film deal that begins with 2016’s Captain America: Civil War continues through Marvel’s just-unveiled Phase 3 lineup."

Black Panther in Cap3? Awesome!

I'm not sure of Sackhoff but Blunt always always convince me that she's the character in the film instead of Emily Blunt the actress. So she gets my vote.

Yeah, but less so for the actual team and more for stuff like Galactus, Doom, Super Skrull...

Not just that. THE ILLUMINATI. Who will take Reed's place as the perennial heel?

Ouch. That's gotta suck.

It had to. Although she may have the last laugh. BW is a cool role, but that character will never get a standalone.

Excellent news. I wonder if Cap will go to Wakanda? Would be a great way to introduce things properly.

I agree. I have never been a fan of Sackhoff's acting. It always feels tryhard to me. Blunt is a much better actresses and she sold the solider part well in Edge.

There is no getting around the fact that the reboot of Captain Marvel was based heavily on Sackhoff's looks though, and she's been campaigning for the role pretty hard on the Twitters and whatnot.

I thought Feige said she would get a solo film at some point?

According to the Ultron trailer, his shield get broken. So it's probably safe to assume he'll be going to wakanda

Doesn't seem like it anymore...

The progressivism marched on today as Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige surprised fans by announcing a Captain Marvel movie for 2018, which will mark the studio’s first stand-alone female superheroine. While Warner Bros. and DC have Gal Gadot set to play Wonder Woman in her own film and Sony’s trying to mine their Spider-Man holdings for a female superhero, Marvel fans have been clamoring for a superheroine to get her own spotlight. There’s already one well-established in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow. But don’t hold your breath for that character to get her own adventure, says Feige.

“Black Widow couldn’t be more important as an Avenger, but like Hulk the Avengers films will be the films where they play a primary role,” said Feige. “Her part in Avengers: Age Of Ultron is very, very big and further develops her character. The plans we have for her through the rest of the Avengers saga are very big and she is a linchpin, in fact, to those films. So instead of taking her out there or doing a prequel which we haven’t done yet, we’re continuing the forward momentum of the continuity of the Cinematic Universe, of which Widow is a key part.”

Hooray, I'm excited to hear about Captain Marvel - it's about time there was a film with a female lead!

(Very sad that we have to wait until 2017 to see Loki again though. ;_; Argh, that's so far away!)

I wouldn't say she's been actively campaigning for it. She's been linked to it since saying Disney asked for her availability for an unknown role and whenever is asked about it says she'd love to play the character.

Just a thought; is it possible for Black Widow to get a standalone movie that has nothing to do with the Avengers? Could be pre-SHIELD / pre-Avengers era, or post-Avengers for that matter, just not connected to anything happening in the grand scheme of things.

Essentially just a spy movie set within the MCU, much like how Agents of SHIELD is set in the MCU but has virtually nothing to do with what happens in the Avengers-continuum movies (apart form the cross-over with Winter Soldier).

With Doctor Strange introducing parallel dimensions to the MCU, I think they basically have an out for anything they do after that. Lol. :)

Not every character needs a solo film. Black Widow doesn't need it. She's been fine getting development through Ironman 2, Avengers, Captain America 2, and now Avengers 2. Just keep at that, while introducing new supporting characters too. So now after Ultron, maybe her next big supporting role would be in Black Panther. Gives people on the fence about seeing it a reason while keeping the universe more connected. Introducing side characters that get their development by appearing in multiple other priorities. Not just for a Cameo, but as actual supporting roles.

Hulk too, but for different reasons. There is no reason to do a solo film for him anytime soon. Maybe have him as a bigger role in Captain 3's Civil War or something.

After Phase 3 I see a need to make a phase with self contained stories..

Make a Hawkeye and a Black Widow movie, with Strange, Panther and Marvel 2, but don't intertwine those stories. I can see people getting over saturated with movie arcs that depend on each other after infinity war most likely being set up and played out over 5 movies.

The only movie I wonder about is going to be Dr. Strange. Of all the stories, the character that literally magicks his problems away is going to be the hardest to tell a story about. Sort of like how the Hulk movies have been either terrible or mediocre.

The drama of his origin will fuel the first half well, but when it comes time to overcome whatever the bad guy is going to be, it's going to more difficult to close out than it would be with a big action closing scene.

The actor and director they choose for this is going to have more of an impact than any of the other announced movies, I feel.
