Alien Vs. Terminator: which franchise got shat on the worst?

Alien 3 and 4 are pure garbage. Don't give me that shit about 3's director's cut being decent. Nope, its not. Its still a terrible movie. Terminator Salvation, the worst of the bunch, does not reach that level of shittitude.

LOL @ Alien 3 is a turd. You surely haven't seen much movies then. If you would watch the Assembly Cut Version you might want to reconsider your statement. This isn't a bad movie in any way.

The Assembly Cut Version is a totally different movie. It's not a director's cut but more of a producer's cut.

you can't put a price on sparks
AVPs are bad.

Prometheus is on par with Salvation

T3 is on par with Alien 3

T1 and T2 are equivalent to Alien and Aliens

i think AVP has shittier stuff made for it

Prometheus is a very tightly directed movie, whatever the flaws people will find. In this way you can never compare it to for example Resurrection (which was more of a comedy) or Salvation. Prometheus actually has a (very interesting) story to tell, while Salvation only makes excuses for action and explosions. Terminator 3 is a little better then Resurrection, but only because they didn't change or shake up the formula much.

A3, A:R, AVP, AVP2.

Verdict: Alien.

AVP and AVP2 aren't in the Alien universe mate. It's just a spinoff to collect some quick cash and be done with it. They don't really count as Alien movies. At least, they are not cannon (unlike Colonial Marines :p).

I think the Terminator 4 is one of the streamiest turds ever shat, and T1 and T2 were so good.

I love the first two Alien movies as well but atleast Alien 3 and 4 managed to only be disappointing.

Gotta go with Terminator on this one.

The most tightly directed movie in the world will still be shit if it has one of the worst scripts of all time.

I can still very much enjoy the (simple) story. I liked the first draft better before Lindelof decided it shouldn't be a real Alien origin story. And I really like the way Scott directed this piece. The shots inside the thing were amazingly spooky and a bit chilling like when they did it in Alien 1. Since Prometheus is part of the canon and franchise I will vote for Terminator. But only because of Salvation. Terminator meets bad writing.

If we count Prometheus, it's no contest.

Prometheus was legitimately one of the worst films I've ever seen.

Yea, Prometheus is the Nadir of Films in general tbh.The visuals where nothing amazing oscar worthy either, just rehashing past visual concepts of the Alien I.P. Nothing to merit an oscar nomination tbh.

Is the Assembly Cut on all versions of the blu-ray?

Alien 3's directors cut actually makes it a pretty solid movie, and Resurrection, whilst fairly bland, is more forgettable than bad, and at least has Ron Perlman dual wielding whilst upside down.

Terminator has definitely got the worse treatment.

I haven't even watched Aliens yet. So Alien franchise remains in pristine condition for me.

Terminator by default even though I don't really have a problem with T3 aside from it being completely unnecessary. Loved the Sarah Connor Chronicles. Salvation is so incredibly shitty though.

It's on the Quadrilogy boxset (both versions of the film). The standalone release is the theatrical edition only. At least that's what Google told me. The Assembly Cut is a totally different film and has David Fincher's approval, but it wasn't allowed to be called Director's Cut. It's also the longest Alien movie. They go from 114 minutes (theatrical) to 145 minutes for the Assembly version.

Alien, and I blame James Cameron for it completely. Aliens was a great movie, but it completely changed tone when compared to Alien. The effect on the sequels after that was extremely detrimental.

Alien, by far. The last 2 Terminator's were WAY better than the last two Aliens (Alien 3 may be well made but it's boring as shit).

Last 2 Terminator's have their problems but they are decent action movies and respect the good movies that came before, except the timeline changes in T3 that pissed me off (they forgot that T2 was set in 1995 NOT 1991) Terminator also has The Sarah Connor Chronicles going for it.

Alien 3.

undeniable turd.

No. I will never ever agree on this. Alien 3 is my absolute favourite Alien movie and no matter how many times I go through the trilogy I always look forward to the 3rd one the most.

Anyway, Terminator got obliterated a LOT more than the Aliens. On the other hand the AVP franchise is horrible so if we count that towards the Alien series then both the Terminator and Alien got destroyed about the same.

Fuck!!! Just reading this thread made me depressed as fuck. Terminator 1 and 2 are my childhood, my life. Those two movies are my all time favorite movies! I can believe the franchise is ruined.

As far as Termiantor Genyeisis, or whatever the fuck the movie is called, is concerned, they can turn that somovabitch sideways and shove them in their asses. Fuck all of you motherfuckers.

If we're not counting AvP, then Terminator

If we are counting AvP, Alien

I prefer AvP than Terminator 3 and Salvation. In fact, the only Terminator I really like was the first one whereas I really like both Alien and Aliens equally.

Alien got the shorter stick for me.

I see Terminator as the lesser evil of two. T3 was terrible but at least it was in a way that made me laugh out loud incredulously. I dare say I was mildly entertained. Terminator also spawned what I hear was a pretty good television series: Sarah Conner Chronicles.

I was stone-faced and bored with Alien 3 the whole way through unfortunately.

Termination Salvation was inoffensive but also completely bland and unmemorable. Alien Res is just a sad travesty that lured me in with Winona Ryder :[

I vote Alien, because it got turned into a really comic-book style series after the first three. Resurrection's tone was all wrong and it just got worse with the spinoffs from there.

Terminator just faded into terrible, uninspired retreads with no memorable scenes, but they never became super schlocky like the Alien spinoffs.

I feel that Alien:Isolation (not a film, obvs) has restored some dignity and tension to the franchise. I really love it.

Your not wrong there. I haven't seen such a faithful and well executed adaptation of a franchise since Knights of the Old Republic. It's the best addition to the series since Aliens, and I'm a person that loved Prometheus.

Terminator. Alien 3 grew on me tremendously, especially the Assembly Cut. And I love the dog alien design from that film, aswell.

And I enjoyed Resurrection. It was dumb and corny, but it has alot of charm. And Ron Pearlman.

Terminator 3 never got more fun, for me. It was just corny and no charm.

Terminator franchise.

T3 is a parody/send-up of T2 and Arnold himself is part of it. Killed it.

Alien 3 assembly cut is interesting even though it's not quite up to the heights of the previous 2, the performances are still good/excellent as are other areas of the film.

Prometheus, despite any shortcomings, is still an interesting film.

The Terminator < Alien
The Terminator < Aliens*
The Terminator > Alien 3
The Terminator > Alien: Resurrection
Terminator 2 < Alien
Terminator 2 > Aliens*
Terminator 2 > Alien 3
Terminator 2 > Alien: Resurrection
Terminator 3 < Alien
Terminator 3 < Aliens
Terminator 3 < Alien 3
Terminator 3 > Alien: Resurrection
Terminator Salvation < Alien
Terminator Salvation < Aliens
Terminator Salvation < Alien 3
Terminator Salvation < Alien: Resurrection

Alien makes out better overall, really it comes to the latter 2 in both franchises going head to head, Alien 3 was a good film poorly executed, Terminator 3 had no potential. Salvation is so shit it's unreal, Resurrection is at least committed to being weird.

They kinda ruined the ending though with bad CG that neuters what was one of the most striking moments in the film.
