I didn't think the Thor movies were great but I thought it was fun, lighthearted entertainment. I think Marvel obviously have been listening to the criticism and it sounds like Ragnarok will get more serious, especially after the success of TWS.

So are we assuming Klaw is the main villian in Black Panther? It's clear Andy Serkis is playing him in Ultron and I doubt Marvel recruited him just to cameo in an Avengers film.

Here is my list :

Top Tier:
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Guardians of the Galaxy

High Tier:
Avengers
Iron Man
Thor

Mid Tier:
Iron Man 2
Thor: The Dark World
Incredible Hulk

Bad Tier:
Agents of Shield
Captain America : First Avenger

Lower than Shit Tier:
Iron Man 3

Avengers is great. But it cant hold up against Cap 2 and GotG.

LOL

So for likely villians in Phase 3 we have

Cap Civil War - Crossbones, Cap vs Tony
Guardians 2 - Ultron?
Black Panther - Ulysses Klaw
Thor Ragnarok - Surtur
Inhumans - ?
Doctor Strange - Dormammu?
Captain Marvel - ?
Infinity War - Thanos.

Any ideas / theories

Not going to rank them all but I will say that I have enjoyed all of the MCU movies except Thor 2 and Iron Man 2. I actually really liked the 1st Thor. The climax was anti-climatic to be fair but I felt it was really solid. Thor 2 on the otherhand, just didn't grab me so to speak.

Unlikely.

I wouldn't be too sure. What if Guardians 2 didn't get a subtitle at the conference because its Annihilation? Yes Marvel is missing the rights to some of the stuff but they could easily do their own take on it. We don't know that the Avengers destroy Ultron at the end of Avengers 2. It may happen.

Ranking time?
Guardians of the Galaxy
Avengers
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Iron Man
Captain America
Iron Man 3
Iron Man 2
Thor
The Incredible Hulk
Thor: The Dark World

It's kinda crazy when you consider the pace at which we're getting these

Phase 1 was over the course of 5 years, with 2009 being an off-year. 1-2 movies per year, 6 in total.

Phase 2 will only be 3 years, 2 movies per year, 6 in total.

Phase 3 will be over 4 years, with 2-3 movies per year (save for 1 in 2019) and 9 in total.

Especially now that Fox, Sony, and Warner Bros. are all going to be flooding the market. I am personally not interested in anything Sony is doing. As for Fox, DofP really soured me on X-Men. First Class was reeling me back in but I thought DofP was pretty bad. I don't have much faith in their Fantastic Four, it's a shame that can't find it's way into MCU.

Warner Bros. I'll probably give a chance. Man of Steel was okay, but so were many of the MCU origin stories.

I enjoy pretty much all the films, but there are only a handful of top tier movies in my mind. Some of these Phase 3 movies are probably going to sit along side those middle tier movies. Dr. Strange and Black Panther feel to me like they too will be middle of the road.

But all the films have been getting better as time goes on, so maybe they just needed to hit their stride. Still just handful of the phase 3 films will end up setting the new bar.

Some person on my facebook was talking about how the cat ears on black panther made him look like a silly dork cosplaying as catwoman.

I unfriended her.

How in the world can Black Panther feel like it'll be "middle of the road" when there is absolutely no information on it other than the star?

Has it really come to the point that Marvel threads devolve into crappy ranking threads only 1 day after major news breaks? It used to take weeks of nothing happening for it to come to that.
Because reasons.

Because there's no such thing as objectively bad?
There is, some people just confuse it with how much they subjectively (dis)liked it.

We need Annihilation before Ultron happens in GotG2.

Not to mention we are likely going to get Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaw and I'm willing to bet his performance will be amazing as he's a quality actor.

Yeah I mean Chad Boseman was excellent in 42 and from what I've heard, was great in Get On Up as well. The acting potential is there. They just need to find a quality director. My guess is that the story will be mostly about defending Wakanda from Klaw and his band of outsiders (probably associated with Hydra or AIM) with Black Panther deciding that to truly protect Wakanda, he needs to take a more proactive approach, which will lead to him joining the Avengers.

Hmm, really? Why weren't the Inhumans part of that package?

Oh yeah, maybe they could do a War of Kings kind of thing since they're making an Inhumans movie.

If not that movie maybe another one, point being I don't think the majority of these will find themselves into the top tier sections of everyone's lists. Even though my Hype wants that to be so.

mehhhh don't care about tiers and lists and crap

i'm excited about getting more of these characters translated to the silver screen, and expanding the MCU.

Black Panther and especially Inhumans goes such a long way to doing that.

One day, we may have an MCU as dense as the 616 and it would be glorious.
