Valkyria Chronicles for PC [Nov 11, £14/20/$20, has all DLC, 60fps/1080p+, $14 GMG]

As someone who bought it at full retail on PS3, and bought all the DLC when it was released, I'll buy 5 at full price on PC. Because I like PC 5 times more than PS3 :P
OK, admittedly I'll probably not get all 5 of those copies at full price. And I like PC 100 times more, but I can't afford that.

How are DLCs? I played the full game but never bought DLCs on PS3.

Selvaria Mission DLC is fantastic, Edy Mission DLC is great.

Hard EX DLC is pretty weak as DLC, but neat as a standard exclusion. Edy challenge missions were more interesting, if you want to explore the individual classes.

No. Even if I would agree that multiple maps makes up for the great reduction in per-map scope (I very much do not), what really breaks VC2 mechanically is the exceedingly grindy character progression system.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still buy VC2 if it was released on PC, just because I think the core of the series is that strong, but it's a step down in almost every regard from VC1, not just thematically.

VC2 and 3 make battles in the first game feel slow and plodding in comparison. I think almost everyone agree that the character progression system was bad, but the actual combat mechanics in 2 are a big improvement on the first. People would acknowledge this if it wasn't limited by the size of the maps, but it still made for a very enjoyable experience.

Also anyone who did not like 2 should make the effort to go and play 3, it fixes everything that was wrong with it and overall is the best game in the series (shame it wasn't on PS3 though)

thanks!

Quite excited to try out the DLCs. Are they meant to be played after you beat the story?

1080p screens.

VC2's maps killed combat for me, The troop placement strategy required in VC1 was so much better and the maps were why. Hell there was at least 4 levels in VC2 I was able to beat by just camping my guys outside a zone line

Hell the final boss, I camped 2 shocktroopers on either side of a zone line and the boss ran through one zone, started getting shot at, turned around and repeated this til he died.

Ill also disagree with VC3 being better than 1, but it was definitely better than 2.

It's up on Steam for pre-order! GO GO GO!
Surprise, surprise, Valkyria Chronicles isn't available on Steam in Japan. When it comes to PC releases like this or Sonic Generations, Sega is sure showing the love for its own country.

Why is this happening again? Did PC fans petition for it or something?

Also, any chance of mod support? I was really put off by the PS3 version A.I where they would not use most of their turns (command points). It just was super annoying.

Not sure if the Hard Mode DLC changed that.

I haven't been keeping up, but I hope this is positive news for a PS4/PC current gen continuation. Hopefully the sales are a good boost for Sega

Great price. About what I was going to spend on it for a PS3 copy.

I'll buy it Day 1, but I am waiting til release day to hear what sort of port it is. Not that I'm gonna be like, "I cant play it in 4k and 120fps, no buy!", just that I might hold off until/if any restrictions are overcome or are declared insurmountable.

Am definitely getting, though. Have no problem paying full price for this. Absolutely awesome stuff.

EDIT: Well at the least, we've got 1080p confirmation already. :)

Is VC2 a step down mechanically or do people mostly just hate the cast? Does it fix the balance issues with the Scout class I've heard about?

Mechanically VC2 is the better game because it gives you a reason to use classes other than scouts. The problem lies in it's loot collection system, which is required to level your characters, and it's immensely stupid story.

Straight gameplay though, VC2 is superior.
