Like...Taskmaster was born with a very specific skill which Ward hasn't demonstrated. .
Depends on which universe/version. There's at least one origin where his ability came as a result of/exposure to something as an adult.
The Ward War Tally
#TeamGrant (8): Neoxon, RyosukeTH, the_firewithin, TacticalFox88, Choppasmith, Incendiary, Backwards Marathon, Omega Rex
#TeamChristian (1): bananafactory
Jesus there is no comeback for ward now is there
Hmmm, that's wrong. 616 Taskmaster had his abilities as a kid. One of the best stories he tells from his childhood is watching professional divers, climbing up to the diving board, and performing a perfect dive and only realizing he didn't actually know how to swim until he was in the water.

As this is a Whedon show, who dies? Or do you think Fitz counts as a symbolic death?
For two weeks from now you mean- Promo for next week's episode (please spoiler tag any discussion)
Excellent, thanks for the link!
I really loved that part, guess some of Hydra got to her.
OHSHITOHSHITOHSHIT
Well, that's because it is!I haven't seen the series but whats with that thread title? it almost sound like a Zelda game so it lured me in
I'm #TeamThomasI need to start keeping count on the Ward War. #TeamGrant or #TeamChristian? Stand & be counted.
I'm on #TeamGrant.
Grant can beat lie detectors, as shown last season.Who's the bigger piece of shit? Grant had lie detectors on him throughout the season. Did Christian?
*brofist*I've told you guys since after the pilot. First seasons can often end up being shit, and great series can still come from them. But everyone would just prophecy doom.
Also, both Wards are fuckers. I'm on #TeamThomas.
The show is seemingly setting up the Inhumans and Tripp (at least) is going to be in AoU. I'll guess there is going to be some crossover with the Netflix series or some mention of it at least.anyways, now that I am here, I've liked most of Marvel movies, and this thread seems to be full of positive reactions, does anything here ties into the movies or upcoming netflix series at all? that might be the final push I need to start watching this
May was called "The Cavalry" and was said to be up there with Natasha, so it makes total sense that she'd be capable of fighting someone of that level.Good episode, further cements that Hydra is full of incompetent goons. I just can't take them seriously as a threat any more when it's apparently so easy to take them down.
Frank Grillo is rolling around in his hospital bed at what's become of Hydra in his absence.
Are they serious with May taking down someone who nearly killed Hawkeye?
Come on. I hate this approach where May always wins whatever fight she's in. It's getting boring. There's literally no tension left when she's in a fight. You just know she'll beat the odds and it's so damn boring.
Ward was incredible this episode. We need more from him, I hate that he's been wasted in the basement so far. Hopefully his escape will allow him to flex his newly found badassery
And I couldn't help but laugh at Simmons threatening him. Come on. You need to check that shit before you get Fitz'd.
Adrianne....oh my. The one true badass we deserve.

The timer didn't matter once Skye's father brought the Diviner to Hydra himself, still she's probably in "hiding" (because SHIELD put a tracker on her).Soooo... where is Raina? Last time we saw her she was on a 48 hour timer.
He was said to have "off the charts hand-eye coordination" and he's quite skilled, so the potential is there. He'll probably have a nice casual encounter with the Diviner and then start wearing a skull mask.I don't understand at all how Ward could be taskmaster.
Like...Taskmaster was born with a very specific skill which Ward hasn't demonstrated. He's one of the best fighters in the MCU. Having Ward take up that mantle with his current skill set would be incredibly disappointing.
Again. This is not a Whedon show. Come on
And Coulson dies this season.

WRONG.
Besides, its the majority of the staff that made the other Whedon shows plus he informs a lot of the MCU.
Wasn't Tripp confirmed for Age of Ultron? You mean Tripp hasn't been dead all season?

Also, Mahvel just retweeted this.
From the episode where he's in Juvi and Garrett visits him: "Your hand-eye coordination is off the charts."I don't understand at all how Ward could be taskmaster.

Keep in mind this is MCU taskmaster. Stuff shifts.Getting Taskmaster from that is quite a stretch
Just noticed that the tech Black Widow uses to short out TWS's arm is the same thing Deathlok used to induce Ward's heart attack back in S1 of AoS. Also, damn the fight choreography in TWS was amazing. It's easily my favourite Marvel film so far.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXPOl6EjbWg
AoS has stepped it up, but not even CLOSE to what the Russo brothers did back in April

Mandarin.Marvel haven't been shifting stuff that much.
Mandarin.
Eric was the black sheep of his family. His mother would tell him that he was 'born bad', while heaping affection on Simon. Eric's father was charged with disciplining him, but was abusive and uncaring. He even preferred to watch TV lazily, while Eric was torturing the family cat. At the same time, their mother Martha was loving and attentive to Simon, making Eric bitter and jealous.
One day Eric was playing with chemicals in the garage, and caused a fire which burned down their house. Simon felt guilty for not stopping Eric, and resolved to be responsible for Eric from there on. As they grew older, Simon grew studious while Eric was an athlete. Eric also became more rebellious, and tried to get Simon to join him in his petty thefts.

But she's a better Mockingbird. Avengers 3 better use the hell out of her. And hopefully she'll pop up in Cap 3 too.She would've been a great Wonder Woman

I don't understand the Tripp hate. He's charismatic and very likeable, more than Ward ever was. I know he hasn't had much to do so far, but I have faith that this will change once the actor's schedule opens up, and honestly having background agents we know personally isn't a bad thing at all. Helps make S.H.I.E.L.D feel bigger.
As I said earlier, is it really all that bad that some characters aren't in the focus for longer periods of time? He's the pilot and so far there hasn't been much piloting drama that would require them to put focus on him. We see him interacting with different characters at different times and I don't see it as a bad thing that he gets along with pretty much everyone, doesn't have some huge drama every week and just kind is there to flesh out the team. I'm sure he'll have his time in the spotlight, maybe now that his former, evil commanding officer's (or whatever) other protige has escaped and if they try to catch him at some point.I love Tripp, they just given him nothing to do this season. Mack has done more.
But he didn't make much of an impression last season either IMO, and this year he's been almost non-existent. I totally agree with you that not every character needs to be at the forefront all the time, but when said character never has had a chance to establish himself and numerous characters that have come afterward have already surpassed him in meaningful contributions to the narrative, it means that it's time for the writers to do something about it. I like Tripp, but as it stands now, if they killed him off next episode I probably would not be that dismayed. I don't think I could say the same for any other member of the team right now, and even a handful of the villains. As I said earlier, is it really all that bad that some characters aren't in the focus for longer periods of time? I think it's more than just bro time. There's been enough hinting to make me believe it'll be more than that, and I truly hope they follow through with it.When Simmons left and Mack looked at Fitz, I thought this was the episode that would reveal they're in a relationship or something.
Is it just guy love? Don't compromise...the feelings of another guy...
I love Tripp, they just given him nothing to do this season. Mack has done more.
Really? It seems pretty obvious to me from all the hints, and I don't just mean in a fanwank type way. Whether or not they actually follow through will be seen, but I don't think it's hard to recognize what sort of vibe they are putting out there. (Fitz straight out said he finds Mack attractive to imaginary Simmons.)Yeah. I don't see this Fitz and Mack thing you guys are seeing. What I see is Mack being a mole maybe not for Hydra but the CIA like in his comic version.
That might be the only legitimate one though. Which is probably just his insecurities about Simmons. What I see is Mack being really friendly with everyone especially with Fitz. What I don't see is the point of the character. Hunter is there to play out the "will he or won't he join SHIELD" arc. Bobbi is the badass named character mostly there for fanwank. Tripp is in a weird holding pattern due to other commitments. Mack though is just kind of there and coming off as likeable. You know an new Eric Keoning. Ripe for emotional drama later on.Really? Yeah, they do need to give him some attention some time in the future. I'm thinking maybe they have the same kind of "reasons" to keep him in the background this season as they had to kind of not doing anything meaningful with the overall story because they had to wait until Winter Soldier to fuck things up last season. Isn't he in Age of Ultron? Maybe they don't want to start doing some stuff on him too early if his future storylines involve AoU, but are failing at coming up with good ways of keeping him as a big(ger) part of the current storylines without taking away from other people's character development. Maybe he's just around as such a static character because they need to have him around to not lose him from the show altogether. So they fill his minimum screentime (almost) every week to keep him around because they do have some longer term plans for him, but their plans for him won't come into play until later in the season. So it's a fail from the showrunners much like the first half of last season, but on a smaller, character-specific scale. But he didn't make much of an impression last season either IMO, and this year he's been almost non-existent. He is in another show that is currently filming on BET Being Mary Jane. It might be as simple as that. He just isn't available because they do a lot of on location filming.Still, I maintain it that I don't think it really takes away from the show all that much that they have someone like Tripp just hanging there, doing some essential work mostly unseen & unheard. It doesn't create interest in Tripp's character, but I don't obsess over it and maybe they want it to stay that way until they are actually doing something with his character.
