Of course, Microsoft will win November and December and then it will come 9-10 month of slow pre-season.

If these price drops and bundles were permanent, then maybe we might have a case, but all temporary price drops do is bunch console sales together. It conditions the mind of the consumer to think, "It's $399? Eh, I'll just wait for the next sale. I'll wait for the next sale, I'll wait for the next sale," and so on. Microsoft may win November and December, and the words, "This is a wave of change," will be screamed from the rooftops, but they're setting themselves up to be even slower the rest of the year. That's also why I feel Sony has such a weak holiday season, to be more consistent throughout the year, instead of banking on the holiday season.

How is this wrong? Are people that blind that they think 4 remasters will just destroy the sales numbers at retail? Because we have oh so many examples of this in the past? Oh wait.. Not really. But it's Halo so that changes everything!!

No, it doesn't. It will sell well, but those expecting MCC to change some sort of tide or something are living under their own little online forum rock. As with all HD collections it will sell well to "new to you" customers and a small segment of the devoted fan base looking to experience it again.. And that's it. Decent sales but nothing even approaching the biggest hits of the holidays.

Edit - hell, it won't even take the top FPS spot on XBONE. AW will safely hang on to that crown.

No, it doesn't. It will sell well, but those expecting MCC to change some sort of tide or something are living under their own little online forum rock. It seems like people are forgetting that multiplats always sell better on the highest userbase console. People will be buying CoD for PS4 despite the CoD Xbone Bundle.

I have no doubt next NPD, CoD will be highest selling on PS4 including bundles.

I'm surprised they haven't announced a GTA bundle in the US. Curious what the logistics are to cause it to not happen yet or at all. I would assume they'd drop the Mehstiny bundle to $399 or bundle in a year of PS+ at the least. Outside of the US they could probably do a $50 price increase and still beat MS handedly at this point.

Going by past years, aside from leaks, SCEA doesn't actually announce Black Friday/holiday bundles until like a week or two in advance.

This is the key. Sony will react through a desirable Black Friday deal if the Xbox One sales are high enough. BF sales alone can swing November.

I agree. Sony doesn't have to exactly do a damn thing just because "they might lose a few months." Throwing away millions of dollars just to please fanboys on video game forums like NeoGAF doesn't seem smart, especially given Sony's current financial situation.

I agree that winning the NPD isn't that important, but every consumer who buys an XBone instead of a PS4 is going to lose them much more over the course of the generation than the $50-100 per sale they'd lose by trying to counter these deals.

Actually, Abdiel's report from Best Buy seems to indicate that Halo:MCC will sell very well, but mostly to existing XB1 owners:

Also, the MCC has a lot of preorders, it's going to be a great seller, but I've stated this before... from all the discussion I've had with customers, these are coming from people that already own the system, they've bought it at launch, or picked it up around the Titanfall hype, grabbed it on one of the big sales. It's been a very very small percentage of people hyped about the MCC that said they'll be picking up the system when that game drops.

The PS4 is selling better than the Wii so far and has beaten the XB1 in the US handily last months and during the months where it had its price cut and Titanfalll released......is there any sense is a price cut when the PS4 is selling so ridiculously well.

Surprised there isn't a GTAV bundle tbh. I think Sony know they've lost November though and aren't going to lose even more money trying to catch up, I guess they're content with winning the rest of 2014. Plus, it's not like the PS4 is going to sell terribly either, it'll do just fine.

Winning November is pretty much impossible for Sony IMO, MS has been hyping up the holiday being the "most important time" since like the summer, halo is coming out, cod is coming out etc. If they have to sell xbox ones for $50 to win NPD, they probably will.

thing is, people like to use amazon for their own arguments and then discredit it in others. When patter said he thought the Xbox1 would win September, people cited amazon stating that the xbox had never been ahead of the ps4. Now for the last week theres been 2 xbox one bundles in the top 10 and ps4 has been around 13-15 and COD PS4, Xb1 and halo have all been switching back and forth between 6-8, yet people don't wanna take that into consideration.
